Whisky Wednesday Reviews High West Blended Rye (French Oak Port Barrels) – American Whiskey News

HW Midwinter

https://youtu.be/I2ieHlcR3LU

How do you start a love letter? Questions that have troubled Hemingway and Joyce for years but I have something they don’t have. I have HIGH WEST! I traveled across the Atlantic Ocean to collect this, don’t feel sorry for me.

Blended Rye whisky matured in ex-bourbon casks and then finished in French Oak Port barrels…YES.F*****G.PLEASE – Utah is even further away from Manchester then New York is but I would happily travel out there to experience this distillery in it’s full! I don’t care that they didn’t distill it themselves, it’s what you do with what you’ve got that counts and my lord, this thing counts. Cheers.

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 210: Glenturret 8 Year Old 2009 B’s Choice

Mark Dermul, Belgian whiskyblogger, discovers a new Belgian independent bottler’s first release. B’s Choice. B is none other than Bart Heggerick, better known as one of the strong men behind the Smoking Buffalo series. But now he has his own label. Time to make an entrance. Will he, with his first release? Glenturret is not exactly a very sexy name – or is it? The whisky is 8 years old, matured on a single sherry hogshead and is bottled at 63.3% ABV!

Whisky Wednesday Reviews Macallan Edition No. 4 – Scotch Whisky News

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES! TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES! Taken over Speyside, turtle power!

Look at that f*****g box colour! I’ve never seen a green so alluring and honestly, quite nice. It off sets the colour of this wonderful whisky, perfectly! Straight off the bat, yes, it’s a bit expensive for what it is but, I split it with a friend and it was great for £40 – would I buy it again…yes, probably. Textually one of the finest whiskies I’ve tried this year and has a flavour profile that I can only boil down as, Macallan but different? It’s got a hit of sherry but it’s not as sweet as what I remember Macallan to be. Dark chocolate, coffee, toasted nuts and a bit of cherry as well. The closest we’ll get to the infamous No.2 so far, but not quite. A stand out effort for both flavour and design though. Happy new distillery, Macallan. Please make more whisky like this?

Whisky Wednesday Reviews W.L.Weller – American Whiskey News

PHIL

https://youtu.be/MzeBolfB64w

This first video we ever released in this new look Whisky Wednesday was the W.L.Weller from a few years a go, that old, squatted bottle style. This version is the new bottle, don’t think the recipe has changed in anyway but one thing that i do want to point out is some of the ludicrous pricing that is around for this bottle. This is a max, £50 bottle of whisky, it’s not £100, it’s certainly not $250 as I saw in New York last month. Buffalo Trace make outstanding whisky and they don’t charge a lot for it, this is the first time I’ve gone on a bit of a price rant, mainly because this is an accessible almost introductory bourbon, it’s not a super high-end, kill people for bottle so please, don’t be ripped off and do enjoy a beautiful whisky that is brimmed with milk chocolate, cocoa powder and big green apple notes. Cheers!
