Introducing Writers Tears – An Authentic Irish Whiskey

(December 2015) – Leading US importer Palm Bay International and family owned Walsh Whiskey Distillery, producers of The Irishman brand of whiskey and cordials, are delighted to introduce Writers Tears Copper Pot – an ultra-premium, authentic Irish whiskey.

Writers Tears is a unique example of classic Irish whiskey named for the esteemed Irish writers and playwrights of the 19th century who sought inspiration and comfort in their local watering holes. Produced using the same methods as original 19th Century Irish distillers using distillates from the Copper Pot only. Writers Tears is a vatting of single malt and single pot still whiskey that uses 100% Irish barley for its production creating an ultra-premium brand.  The distillates in Writers Tears come from copper pots only (no grain), and is triple distilled with an abv of 40%, non-peated and matured and aged in American oak bourbon casks. Writers Tears offers aromas of apple with hints of vanilla and honey that lead to a gently spiced palate of ginger and butterscotch culminating in a long, elegant finish with subtle notes of milk chocolate and almonds.

Chosen as Best Blended Whiskey at the Irish Whiskey Awards, a gold medal winner at the International Spirits Challenge in London and one of the highest rated Irish whiskies in Jim Murray’s Iconic Whiskey Bible. Murray describes it as, “Altogether a very unusual Irish whiskey, a throwback to the last century where spiced pure pot still whiskey was married with floral single malt.” It has also been added to Ian Buxton’s publication 101 Whiskies to Try Before You Die.

Writers Tears is currently available in NY, PA, MN, DC and MA for a suggested retail price of $40.

The Glenlivet Founder's Reserve VAP - 2015 Alan Kitching (003)

The Glenlivet, the world’s No.1 single malt Scotch whisky, has unveiled a limited edition gifting pack, created in partnership with Master Typographer, Alan Kitching for the second year, aiming to increase on-shelf standout and drive purchase of The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve in the run up to Christmas.

The gifting range, which features specially-commissioned letterpress artwork by Kitching, an appointed Royal Designer for Industry, includes a The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve limited edition box and a value-added pack featuring whisky glasses. Also included is a booklet detailing The Glenlivet’s brand story and partnership with Kitching, which was inspired by the shared tradition, craftsmanship and skill found in both the art of letterpress printing and the creation of the single malt that started it all.

Nikki Burgess, The Glenlivet Global Brand Director, comments: “The holiday season presents key gifting opportunities for whisky fans and their families, and The Glenlivet is primed to take advantage of this through our second limited edition gifting series in partnership with Alan Kitching.

“Last year, feedback from consumers and the trade was fantastic so we wanted to build on this initial success to craft an original design for The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve that is both bold and eye-catching – the perfect gift for single malt fans this Christmas. The release supports the ongoing roll-out of The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve since its introduction in March this year, and we hope it inspires more whisky drinkers to sample our ultimate tribute to founder George Smith’s original vision of crafting the most definitive, smooth single malt Scotch whisky.”

The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve gift pack will be available from December 2015 at an RRP of $40 or local equivalent.

Tomatin unveils new look branding and packaging at Edinburgh Waverley

Following the recent announcement of the new Tomatin Distillery Co Ltd’s rebranded core range, Tomatin took over Edinburgh Waverley station yesterday to unveil the new look to consumers. Joined by their campaign shepherd and softly groomed poodle, the team at Tomatin caused quite a stir as whisky aficionados, bloggers and press joined them on the stand in Edinburgh’s Waverley Station to experience ‘The Softer Side of the Highlands’.

Available to purchase from March 2016, the multi award-winning range of single malts includes a variety of different ages and wood styles to suit all tastes including The Tomatin Legacy, 12 year, Cask Strength, 14 year, 18 year, 1988 vintage and 36 year. The team at Tomatin were delighted to receive enthusiastic and positive feedback about the new look which aims to refine the current branding to create a fresh, contemporary identity which better reflects the product inside, whilst still retaining the quality and tradition of the brand.

Supporting the rebrand is The Tomatin Distillery Co Ltd’s new campaign, ‘Tomatin Life’, which is a celebration of their people, their place and their whisky. Brought to life yesterday in Edinburgh, consumers were able to interact with the brand, view the new bottles and packaging and meet our, now famous, shepherd and poodle.

“These are incredibly exciting and important times for the Tomatin brand” says Jennifer Masson, Marketing Manager. “Over the past few years we have invested a lot of time in rediscovering our distillery, our people and our values and this is has inspired the new rebrand and marketing campaign. At Tomatin we feel privileged to have such loyal customers who are keen to engage with us and support the brand growth. Edinburgh Waverley presented an exciting opportunity for us to connect with our central belt customers and we were delighted with the positive feedback we received. ”
