At last! I can finally talk about the wonderful Bourbon that is, Old Forester. I’m no stranger to some of Kentucky’s finest; this stuff is up there with some of the best and with a price tag that doesn’t break the wallet. 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley provide a flavour profile that’s drier but still very welcoming with juicy fruits, fruit cordials and nutty, spicy rye. Enjoy!

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 274: Ballantine’s Finest
Mark Dermul, Belgian whisky blogger, tries a blend. It does not hurt to go back to basics from time to time. We whisky aficionados tend to be spoiled (usually by ourselves, obviously) and overlook the whisky that made the category great: blends. So Mark gives this one a go: Ballantine’s Finest, still one of the world’s bestselling Scotches.
Heavily pleated and fresh as a daisy, in comparison to its Scottish rivals, this distillery is one of my favourites in Japan. Heavy, oily and layered with familiar flavours for West Coast Scotch fans, it should be on everyone’s radar to try! Cheers!

Science is normally kept away from the labels of whisky bottles. For some it can seem confusing and for others, it can be seen is some more jargon to make marketing seem new and different. However, this is different, this is here to demonstrate how smoke can be sweet and how the Lowlands region can produce things that make you question the history of that area. Cheers!
