Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 277: Johnnie Walker Ghost & Rare Glenury Royal – Scotch Whisky News

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 277: Johnnie Walker Ghost & Rare Glenury Royal

Mark Dermul, Belgian whisky blogger, enjoys the third in the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost & Rare Series. This time, the leading ‘ghost’ malt is Glenury Royal, joined by Pittyvaich and the grain whisky Cambus, while the ‘rare’ are Inchgower, Glenlossie, Glen Elgin, Glenkinchie and the grain Cameronbridge. The result is decadently delicious, Mark says.

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 276: Johnnie Walker A Song of Ice & Fire – Scotch Whisky News

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 276: Johnnie Walker A Song of Ice & Fire

Mark Dermul, Belgian whisky blogger, puts two Johnnie Walker Blends head-to-head. Diageo clearly is not yet finished with Game of Thrones. After last year’s White Walker, they now present two blends: A Song of Ice around Clynelish and A Song of Fire around Caol Ila. Mark was not very enthusiastic about the White Walker and hopes these two will finally hit the spot.

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 275: Mackmyra Vintersol – World Whisky News

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 175: Mackmyra Vintersol

Mark Dermul, Belgian whisky blogger, tries the latest Mackmyra. It’s brand new, this Mackmyra Vintersol. It means Winter Sun which explains why it will only be available in Sweden – via Systembolaget – as of the 4th of October. It’s another one of those Seasonal whiskies by Mackmyra, this time finished in port casks from Quinta Do Vallado – one of Portugal’s oldest port producers in the Douro Valley, founded in 1716. The finish lasted 16 months!

Whisky Wednesday Reviews Forester Statesman 95 Proof – American Whisky News

https://youtu.be/zFM6_SNXzC4

Whiskies associated with films, film stars and celebrities in general tend not to go down well – the only lasting example is the GoT Lagavulin, which was genuinely nice but in all honesty it’s hard to get Lagavulin wrong.

This thing has proven so popular that even beyond the stretch of Kingsman 2, this whisky is still around and people are still buying it because of the quality. Selected from the top floors of OF’s warehouses and batched at a higher proof, Statesman has cut it’s own groove into this Bourbon world as product that actually ended up being better than the film it was associated with. Cheers!
