This official notice, sent to all members for the next monthly Tasting Event is coming to you early this month, as it is already two thirds sold out already. The event is now so popular that many members are pre-booking.  Please note that booking priority goes to members and guest spots will be on an available basis..

Here are the details for the event:

Date: Friday September 5^th, 2014

Time: 6:30pm to 8:00pm

Please note we will start promptly right at 6:30; doors open 6:15pm

Location: The Strath Ale Wine & Spirit Merchants, 919 Douglas Street, Victoria.

The event will be in the Maple Room, above the Sticky Wicket Pub, entrance on Courtenay Street

Price: $35 each for Members & Partners, $45 for Non-Members/Guests

1. Space is strictly limited, so you must register in advance. Guests are welcome, but restricted to one guest per member. Members will always have priority. 
2. To secure your place you need to pre-pay

Please remember these are cask strength whiskies, so you should not be driving home after the tasting.

Just Whisky’s August Auction will end Sunday 17^th (20:00)!

With approximately 450 lots this month there are plenty to choose from. There were however some very interesting lots to catch our eye, starting off with an ultra rare Kawasaki 33 Year Old bottled as part of the Nonjatta Ghost Series. This being release number 4. Sticking with the Japanese theme, there are a number of bottles from closed distilleries like KaruizawaKaruizawa. Be sure to check them out. 

Back in Scotland brings some real delights, with a 20cl version of what was the World’s oldest Whisky – the Mortlach 70 Year Old and nearly as old – The Glenfarclas 60 Year Old in a beautiful crystal decanter. We can’t remember the last time we saw these two beauty’s at auction but they’ll be sure to draw attention to this growing auction house. 

Away from the super rare bottles there are plenty of more affordable auction lots. Why not log on and check them all out? Bidding ends Sunday at 20:00 UK Time. 

 The auction will end Sunday 17th August, 2014! 

Bids placed in the final 5 minutes of the lot ending will extend that particular lot by 15 minutes, giving everyone the chance to increase their bid should they wish to do so.

With their biggest & best month ever, Just Whisky are holding an auction with style this time around featuring some of the World’s most desirable bottles. Lots from Port Ellen, Karuizawa, Kawasaki, Ardbeg to name a few, a Glenfarclas 60 Year old and even a Mortlach 70 (!) year old have us extremely excited. Be sure to head over and check it out.

Dufftown 2000 Ltd organises weekly Nosings and Tastings every Wednesday evening at 20:00hrs in Dufftown’s Commercial Hall until 17th September. 

Tonight’s event is sponsored by BenRiach Distillery. Entrance fee is £10 and includes a free nosing glass. 

All profit goes towards the refurbishment of the Dufftown Whisky and Heritage Centre.

Only 1 month till Maltstock 2014!

Just one month to practice for the whisky quiz, to save for the raffle, to train your liver, to get some extra sleep, to decide which whisky you will be bringing, to buy earplugs, and also just one more month you have to wait.

Blind Bottle Battle:

You have the best club bottling in the world you want everybody to know about? You have a stunning private bottling you want to share? Want to have your random bottle of whisky judged by your peer knowledgable Maltstock guests and win fabulous prizes? Besides having a fair chance at immortal fame and glory? Have a crack at it all in our Blind Bottle Battle!! Bring an extra bottle and have it brought to a blind tasting during Maltstock at the Gathering.

Compete in one of two categories:
– non Scotch whisk(e)y
– 50% + VOL Scotch

There is a prize for the winner bottle in every category and a prize for the best tasting note.

The rules are simple:

1. The bottle must fit into one of the named categories and be submitted to the Maltstock crew unopened before Saturday the 6th of September at Maltstock.
2. One bottle per team/ person can be submitted per category.
3. Relax! it’s just for fun remember?
4. It is fun to know about the prize of the bottle so be so kind as to share it with us and everybody else.

Friday = Pizza day!!:

Instead of Chinese food we are doing something different this year. We have freshly baked pizza. Ecopizza.nl is bringing their ovens and Chefs to make delicious pizza for you to enjoy.

This will take a bit more time. So dinner will be more relaxed. Don’t worry, with 1.5 pizza per person there’s more than enough for everyone.
