Charcuterie Luncheon Tuesday, September 9 at 11am

On Tuesday September 9th we will be hosting a luncheon with the Glenfarclas Global Brand Ambassador George Grant. George will be in town for only 2 days and we have him committed for a luncheon here at The Whisky Kitchen. Seating is very limited and the tasting will start promptly at 11 am as George has other engagements throughout the day.

The Glenfarclas Distillery was founded in 1836 and has been in the Grant family since 1865 when John Grant and his son George bought it for just over 500 pounds. Glenfarclas uses primarily sherry casks and is a sought after whisky with rich elegant sherry notes.

Our kitchen team has selected local meats, cheeses and house made accompaniments for the tasting.

Join us on Tuesday, September 9th at 11am to kick off the whisky season with a great luncheon of whisky and food with George Grant down at The Kitchen.

If you have a favourite Glenfarclas bottle you would like George to sign feel free to bring it along as George will make himself available during the luncheon.

This is where it all started folks! 13 years ago Eddie why he always had to travel down to London for whisky festivals and thought ‘why can’t I do one here in York?’

So that’s we he did, and who would have thought all these years later we would be ‘Bringing Whisky to the People‘ all over the UK?

York and Yorkshire events are always close to our heart (as well as our home) and we enjoy bringing events with ‘nowt farted about wi’ to the region. Coupled to the fact we have really pushed the boat out in order to make you feel ‘right special’ and are hosting it at York’s ‘world-famous’ Racecourse, this should be unmissable!

FINAL FEST OF 2014 – 6TH YEAR IN MANCHESTER

Our final (possibly…) Whisky Festival of the year sees us return to the lovely Bridgewater Hall in central Manchester. Along with Newcastle, this has become one of our largest events and is always packed to the gunnels with whiskies and punters. It always seems the good people of Manchester can never get enough of a good thing. All the usual Whisky Lounge regalia including classes, white and black token dram tokens and more whisky to sample than you can shake a fist at. This is your chance to taste the latest releases, some old favourites as well as some special bottlings that the exhibitors will be showing as ‘Under the Counter’ drams. Exhibitors old and new will be on hand to show you why everyone is talking about whisky.

The Scottish Government Becomes Official Title Sponsor for the inaugural Whisky L! Beijing Whilst Stephen Notman Brings the Newly Rebranded Show back to Shanghai! 

After five years of successfully running Whisky Live Shanghai, Show Directors’ Winnie Wu & Stephen Notman return to the China whisky festival scene under a new brand and city launch in the nation’s capital of Beijing! On the 22 & 23 August, the Scottish Government title sponsored Whisky L! Beijing will be the first whisky festival held in Beijing. The following week the show directors’ will be executing their sixth whisky festival in Shanghai held at Le Royal Meridien on the 29 & 30 August. 

Stephen Notman explains: ‘having successfully founded and ran Whisky Live Shanghai & Taipei for five years, my contract with Whisky Magazine was complete. Notman continues ‘The decision to go independent has allowed us to use the franchise fee which we would pay to the magazine to attract world class whisky commentators and establish Whisky L! Beijing.’ 

This year, both shows have attracted some of the leading commentators in the industry which include Dave Broom, Steven Lin & Charles Maclean along with receiving resounding support from the whisky industry. All of which will be heading up master classes. 

To commemorate the inaugural WhiskyL! Beijing and rebranding, seven of China’s leading Whisky Masters joined the Show Directors’ to select this year’s single cask release. Selected on a blind tasting basis Berry Brothers & Rudd Auchentoshan 2000 Vintage was selected as the show bottling. The first taste of the cask strength release will be tasted from the Stephen Notman tasting glass designed for cask strength whisky and locally produced spirit Baijiu. 

Combined with brand launches, the largest showcasing of whisky ever in China and the creation of the first Whisky L! Whisky Chocolate in association with Austria’s established chocolatier Zotter, the show promises to be a fun, festive but yet educational experience.
