Speyburn 14 Year Old 2004 vintage Speyside single malt Scotch whisky. Single 1st fill ex-bourbon American oak cask bottled 2018 for the United Kingdom market. 222 bottles. The nose is bursting with hints of pineapple, almonds, creamy white chocolate and sweet vanilla. On the palate, there are notes of banoffee pie, light citrus fruits and honey all wrapped together with a hint of tobacco. With a warming and sweet finish.

Speyburn Distillery was designed by Charles C. Doig and when constructed in 1897 it was the first malt whisky distillery to install Drum Maltings. Although the Drum Maltings closed in 1967 they have been retained and this is the only surviving example in Scotland. Speyburn is a malt whisky distillery situated in Scotland’s Speyside whisky region and operates with three stills of which two are spirit stills and connected to traditional worm tubs to cool the new spirit, a dunnage warehouse to house some of its maturing casks of whisky and has retained its classic pagoda roof over the old kiln house. Speyburn’s 10 Year Old is a popular core release.

CHIVAS CHAMPIONS THE DIVERSE BLEND OF MODERN FOOTBALL CULTURE WITH NEW GLOBAL CONCEPT CLUB: REGAL FC – Scotch Whisky News

CHIVAS CHAMPIONS THE DIVERSE BLEND OF MODERN FOOTBALL CULTURE WITH NEW GLOBAL CONCEPT CLUB: REGAL FC

Leading blended Scotch whisky, Chivas, has announced the launch of Regal FC – a global concept club for contemporary football culture, devoted to celebrating the eternal influence of the game across the globe. By uniting the multiple strands of modern football culture, Chivas is on a mission to highlight the stories and people who are ripping up the rule book and redefining what the beautiful game means to them. Regal FC offers passion-driven changemakers from around the world a chance to collaborate with like-minded talent, and create unique and lasting experiences that celebrate all aspects of football culture. Through exclusive merch drops, digital content, and match event experiences, Regal FC will be an outlet for current and future personalities to draw inspiration and engage with the evolving football community.

To debut Regal FC, Chivas hosted ‘The Regal FC Rooftop 5s’, the ultimate 5-a-side charity football tournament which saw 50 of the UK’s freshest talent and footballing legends take part. Players included musicians Headie One and Avelino, presenters Elz the Witch and Joelah Noble, and in a nod to Chivas’ global partnership with Manchester United, Wes Brown. A host of familiar faces including Harry Pinero, Yung Filly and Vuj also took to the pitch to showcase their skills, alongside four of the world’s most forward-thinking community clubs; Nivelcrack, Alive and Kicking FC, Under the Radar and Grenfell Athletic FC, who are each on a powerful mission to change the way football is seen in culture today. Eight teams played against each other on a bespoke Regal FC pitch, located on the rooftop of Hotel Football situated next to the iconic Old Trafford stadium. The event concluded with Under The Radar FC successfully fighting off the competition with some electric gameplay, to be crowned as the first-ever champions of ‘The Regal FC Rooftop 5s’.

To further celebrate the launch, Chivas has collaborated with leading British streetwear designer Marc Jacques Burton to create three exclusive, limited edition football kits. Unveiled at The Regal FC Rooftop 5’s tournament, the kits are inspired by three distinct expressions in the Chivas range, blending together the brand’s disruptive approach to Scotch with Marc Jacques Burton’s reimagining of 70’s punk culture. The kit designs reference signature Chivas colours and bring each blend’s unique tasting notes to life through Marc Jacques Burton’s expressive style and print techniques. The first kit from the collection is set to drop on Wednesday 1st December via www.mjb.store, with the remaining kits dropping in the coming months. Proceeds from the first drop will be donated to charity, Alive and Kicking [charity no. 1105583].

The launch of Regal FC comes as Chivas continues its commitment to championing the next generation of ambitious, emerging talent who look to elevate themselves and those around them along the way. From the grassroots community teams, to the hardcore lifelong fans, contemporary football culture is multifaceted, and the launch of Regal FC will see these stories celebrated across the globe.

Chivas Global Marketing Director, Nick Blacknell said: “Regal FC is the start of a new era for Chivas, where we can connect and listen to the next generation of creatives who are helping to evolve the game. Whether it’s through their artistic discipline or day to day hustle, we want to elevate those who are changing the narrative for the better. The purpose of the platform is to celebrate the existing football fandom, but also leverage the global Chivas network and provide these changemakers with the tools and resources to grow and reach new audiences around the world.”

Regal FC is built to celebrate contemporary football culture and elevate the power of the modern football community. From DJs and defenders to coaches and creatives – if you’re changing the world of football, we want to hear from you. Drop us a DM on Instagram with your story or check out www.chivas.com/en-EN/regal-fc to find out how we can collaborate to celebrate your story.

A decanter of the Macallan Lalique 55-year-old. Estimate: £65,000-85,000.

Edinburgh – When it comes to the finest malt whiskies, there is rare – and very rare. The bottle of the Macallan Lalique 55-year-old to be offered at Bonhams Whisky sale in Edinburgh on Tuesday 7 December falls squarely into the latter category. Numbered 412 out of a limited edition of 420, the decanter comes in a presentation case accompanied by a crystal stopper. It is estimated at £65,000-85,000.

Martin Green, Bonhams Head of Whisky in Edinburgh, said, “Released in 2007, the 55-year-old was the second in the famous Macallan Lalique Six Pillars collection. The decanter is modelled on the Paquerettes Tiara perfume bottle, designed by René Lalique himself in 1910 for Roger & Gallet and the multicoloured crystal reflects the natural colour of the whisky within. This perfect marriage between two premier luxury brands has been described as legendary; many whisky collectors would agree.”

Other highlights of the sale include:

  • Three unique decanters of Glenfiddich 1979 exclusively drawn by Malt Master Brian Kinsman from a hand-selected cask, which has lain untouched in the Grant family warehouse since 1979. Each hand-blown Baccarat crystal decanter is accompanied by a different motorsport experience at the Goodwood Estate. All the proceeds will go towards Race Against Dementia (RAD), the charity established by Scottish racing legend Sir Jackie Stewart and the official charity partner of the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard. RAD raises money to fund breakthrough and innovative dementia research. Each bottle is estimated at £6,500-10,000.

Ardbeg 8 Years at The Whisky Barrel – Scotch Whisky News

Ardbeg 8 Years!

Rare limited edition selected for the distillery Committee. Ardbeg 8 Years Old Committee Release 2021 “For Discussion” Islay single malt Scotch whisky. Limited edition release for 2021.

NOSE Intense with a burst of charcoal, creosote, tar and treacle toffee, with curious hints of something vegetal, like fennel, celery and green peppers. Once these subside, there are hints of milk chocolate, aniseed and woodsmoke. With a little drop of water, some more herbal notes appear, like fennel, coriander and lavender, along with some characteristic Ardbeg aromatic woodsmoke and a hint of fresh, salty sea spray.

TASTE A distinctively peppery mouthfeel eases into a complex symphony of flavours; treacle toffee, aniseed, salted caramel chocolate, eucalyptus, menthol and briar wood, to name but a few. The ‘tingling’, peppery sensation on the palate continues, with the sweeter flavours giving way to more savoury notes like charcoal, smoked bacon, burnt toast and tar.

FINISH The aftertaste is long and lingering, with a suggestion of peppermint and clove.
