Edradour 10YO
First mentioned as a name in 1837, but founded in 1825 as Glenforres distillery by local farmers, Edradour, for years, was the smallest distillery in Scotland for most of its modern life.
Bought in 1982 by Pernod Ricard and releasing their first single malt in 1986, the distillery is now owned by Andrew Symington, owner of Signatory Vintages. He purchased the distillery in 2002 and released all of the fun stuff from the warehouses. In 2018 a new distillery was commissioned and doubled the distilleries capacity, losing it’s smallest distillery moniker, but bringing the distillery into a new light and a bigger future.
The 10YO is a heavily sherried and rather complex prodcut for being bottled at 40% ABV. A distillery that had some unusual bias against, but luckily, good whisky can shine through any predisposition.
Power’s 100% Irish Rye
A 100% Irish Rye whiskey, matured in virgin oak, first fill American oak, and refil American oak. It is non-chill filtered at 43.2% ABV, triple distilled, and has a rather interesting history to it.
Carol Quinn has delved into the history books of Irish distilling and found records of irish rye distillation throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.
Midleton are a distillery of massive ability, if you can think of it, they’ve probably done it. However, when they do release interesting and unusual whiskies, the price point isn’t typically accessible to everyone…but this is £30 a bottle. I’m in.

This week’s episode of the show features another of the new Lowland distilleries, that being Lindores Abbey. The Good Dram Show with Chris Goodrum Episode 499 – More Whisky From The Lowlands of Scotland..!

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 484: Milk & Honey 4 Year Old 2018 for The Barrel Baron
Mark Dermul, Belgian whiskyblogger, tries a young Israeli malt. This is already the second single cask that Marcel Kip – aka The Barrel Baron – bottles from this Israeli distillery. Mark had the privilege of judging a sample as early as June 2022. And now that it’s finally here, Mark is very eager to re-taste it. This time it concerns a four-year-old malt that spent its life on an ex-Islay cask. Please take note of the alcohol percentage. And another tip in advance: pour it into your glass and let it catch its breath for five minutes. Let’s get started!
