Whisky Wednesday Reviews Tamdhu 12YO – Scotch Whisky News

Tamdhu 12YO

https://youtu.be/ELN-KI-ojHE

Welcome to a series on Tamdhu!

Part 1 is all about Tamdhu 12YO, and it’s approachable and available nature to whisky drinkers who are looking for a sherry alternative.

Matured solely in ex-sherry casks and bottled at 43% ABV – this bottle is striking to look at, easy to drink, if not a little lacking in big flavours.

Overall, it’s a whisky to certainly put your eyes on if you want something that you haven’t seen or tried before.

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 494: Lindores Abbey Friar John Cor Chapter I

Mark Dermul, Belgian whiskyblogger, enjoys a special release by Lindores. It was inevitable that Lindores would release a whisky under the label of Friar John Cor, of course – the monk of Lindores Abbey who is said to have distilled the first whisky (or whatever it was then) in 1494. It was this Cask Strength Congregation Chapter I – at a wholesome 60.2% – of which the vatting was composed with young single malt from the three classic cask types at Lindores (bourbon, sherry, STR wine barrels) and Monbazillac. The latter is a sweet French wine from Bergerac (southern France) made from the Semillon grape.

Whisky Wednesday Reviews Linkwood 12YO, 43% – Scotch Whisky News

https://youtu.be/RqcseLmvY7I

Linkwood as a product is always at the forefront of independently bottled Scottish whisky, for all the right reasons too!

But, when you want to wrap your palate around the house style, and keep it affordable, there is only one option, and it’s this.

Linkwood 12YO is, or was, part of the Flora and Fauna series of whiskies from Diageo’s lesser known distilleries, typically distilleries that were prioritised for blending across the board.

Thing bottle is surprising to me as I didn’t expect it to be as peach driven as it is. Far more exotic than I remember it being. Although that last sip was many moons ago.

Cheers!
