Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 290: Auchentoshan 2010 Bordeaux Cask for the Toshan Man 50^th Birthday

Mark Dermul, Belgian whisky vlogger, celebrates his 50^th birthday! Turning 50 is something you can celebrate only once, right? Being the Toshan Man – lover and collector of Auchentoshan – Mark could not think of a better gift than his very own official release! The good people at the distillery allowed him to choose his own Toshan Man 50th Birthday Bottling from three cask samples. And after some 4 tasting sessions, Mark’s cask of choice was an excellent Bordeaux wine cask that was filled with that wonderful triple distilled spirit in 2010. After almost ten years of maturation, it still boasts a whopping 61.8%. And yes, he got himself 50 bottles!

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 288: Glengoyne 12 Year Old 2005 Single Cask for The Netherlands

Mark Dermul, Belgian whisky blogger, tries a signle sherry cask of Glengoyne. For the 100th jubilee of the Dutch importer De Monnik Dranken, the distillery manager Robbie Hughes selected this cask from 2015. It was presented a little over a year ago, but only now reached Mark’s neck of the woods thanks to his Dutch buddy Manny.

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 289: Auchentoshan Sauvignon Blanc Finish

Mark Dermul, Belgian whisky vlogger, the latest Auchentoshan. In November 2019 Auchentoshan launched an Amazon Exclusive with their Sauvignon Blanc Finish, a fresh and new triple distilled Lowlander which, according to the tagline on the box, is ‘crafted to be enjoyed chilled’. ‘Wait! What? Seriously?’ Mark is not very fond of cooling his whisky (nor does he have good experience with it), so he was pretty skeptical. But when the bottles arrived early December, he got to work. And behold: it is good, but when chilled it is very surprising indeed!
