Whisky Wednesday & Ardbeg Arrrrrrrdbeg – Scotch Whisky News

I queued for two hours (online) trying to get ahold of this bottle, only to then see a three figure price tag…no. My heart instantly said no.

That’s never really happened to me before for any new release from a reputable distillery. Beyond this whisky being one of the most almond driven flavours I’ve ever experienced, in a very pleasant way. It’s very…quiet for an Ardbeg.

I know it was Mickey’s farewell bottle, and this may have been the type of whisky he preferred, but for the price, it should just have been more. More of everything.

I tried the Wee Beastie a few months ago, not yet reviewed on the channel, and that didn’t impress me either. Given Ardbeg’s £700 25YO release which I doubt I’ll try, they’re 0-2 in my book over the last two available, new releases

Cheers.

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 371: Unleash the Cline 20 Year Old 2000 Mobster on Mopeds – Scotch Whisky News

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 371: Unleash the Cline 20 Year Old 2000 Mobster on Mopeds

Mark Dermul, Belgian whisky blogger, tries an secret Clynelish. He’s quite naughty by revealing Clynelish immediately, for this is actually an ‘undisclosed’ malt. But when you label your release Unleash the Cline, well. Mark takes full responsibility. This is the eight release already of these so called Mobsters on Mopeds, again very limited. Only 53 bottles. And of course bottle 53 of 53 is proudly displayed in his cabinet until he throws the complete Mobster series in one of his online tastings soon.

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 370: Craigellachie 12 Year Old 1971 Gordon & Macphail – Scotch Whisky News

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 370: Craigellachie 12 Year Old 1971 Gordon & Macphail

Mark Dermul, Belgian whisky vlogger, tries a golden oldie. The oldest bottler in Scotland is Gordon & Macphail. They celebrate 125 years in 2020. The Connoisseurs Choice is one of their oldest and most popular ranges that has undergone quite some changes in looks over the years. Mark is trying an older one today: a 12 years old Craigellachie from 1971, bottled early 1980s. The label still proclaims White Horse Distillers as proprietors. Peter Mackie was one of the founders after all. This bottle is totally gone nowadays, though.
