BUFFALO TRACE DISTILLERY REACHES HIGHER WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF EAGLE RARE 12: A PERMANENT NEW ADDITION TO ITS AWARD-WINNING PORTFOLIO

Enabled by the Distillery’s 10-year, $1.2 Billion Expansion Project, Eagle Rare 12 embodies the heights reached when time-honored tradition and bold innovation merge together

FRANKFORT, KY (June 2025) – Buffalo Trace Distillery formally announces the introduction of Eagle Rare 12: a bold, aspirational, yet accessible bourbon and the latest result of the World’s Most Award-Winning Distillery’s commitment to distilling and aging expertise. The latest age-stated addition to the famed Eagle Rare lineup, Eagle Rare 12 debuts as the Distillery completes its 10-year, $1.2 billion expansion project, which played a pivotal role in its creation.

With the release of Eagle Rare 12, Buffalo Trace Distillery continues its endeavor to offer enthusiasts innovative new expressions on its journey to make the world’s best whiskey. The liquid – Buffalo Trace’s iconic Mashbill #1 – is aged for a minimum of 12 years in meticulously-monitored warehouses, with each barrel hand-selected by the distillery’s expert team. In addition to aging a minimum of two years longer than Eagle Rare 10, this special expression is bottled at 95-proof (47.5% ABV) to deliver exceptional depth, character and distinction.

“This whiskey represents more than just time in the barrel—it’s the result of years of dedication, innovation, and an unwavering commitment from our entire team,” says Buffalo Trace Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley. “The investments we’ve made – in time, resources and effort – have allowed us to explore new possibilities in aging and flavor, and this release is a proud reflection of that journey.”

Eagle Rare 12 opens with a sweet, oaky aroma and delicate hints of almond. On the palate, it delivers bold complexity, featuring subtle vanilla and toasted oak, leading to a rich, lingering finish with warm notes of toffee.

“At Buffalo Trace Distillery, we believe there are no shortcuts to create outstanding whiskey – there is no substitute for quality time spent in the barrel. With Eagle Rare, we are always striving but never satisfied, constantly experimenting to enable better-tasting age stated bourbons,” noted Andrew Duncan, Global Brand Director at Buffalo Trace Distillery. “When it was introduced, Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey brought higher quality standards to whiskey around the world; now, Eagle Rare pushes the bounds of age stating excellence in Bourbon.”

Eagle Rare 12 will be released to select retailers, bars, and restaurants across the United States beginning June 2025 at a suggested retail price of $49.99 per 750ml bottle (local taxes and fees dependent); additional international markets will follow in Fall 2025. The expression joins the Eagle Rare lineup of Eagle Rare 10, Double Eagle Very Rare, Eagle Rare 25 as well as Eagle Rare 17, released each fall as part of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection.

International Beverage confirms global roll out of PRAKAAN, Thailand’s first single malt whisky

International Beverage confirms global roll out of PRAKAAN,
Thailand’s first single malt whisky

Historic new whisky bottles rich tapestry of Thai culture and
craftsmanship for international markets

International Beverage is today (2nd June) proud to announce the global roll out of PRAKAAN, Thailand’s first premium single malt whisky, following the success of its launch into domestic and Asian markets last year.

The new whisky is a momentous addition to International Beverage’s award-winning spirits portfolio.

It will debut with a range of three bold and highly distinctive single malts – PRAKAAN Select Cask, PRAKAAN Double Cask and PRAKAAN Peated Malt – all crafted at PRAKAAN Distillery in the north of Thailand.

The launch aims to put Thai whisky and craftsmanship on the global spirits map, whilst showcasing International Beverage’s expertise in producing premium spirits around the world.

With an initial focus on the UK, France and Germany in 2025, and the USA and other markets thereafter, the new global distribution drive will be supported by an ambitious sales and marketing plan to build awareness and long term growth.

Provenance

The new whisky is crafted at PRAKAAN Distillery in the province of Kamphaeng Phet, which sits within Thailand’s northerly Western Forest Complex – part of a vast, unspoiled UNESCO World heritage site.

The area’s rich natural resources and hot, humid climate, combined with the great traditions of local craftsmanship, provide the perfect conditions for making premium whisky with a distinctive Thai character.

This unique setting also inspires the name, with PRAKAAN translating as ‘wall’ or ‘fort’, in tribute to the remains of an ancient wall which once surrounded Kamphaeng Phet, and stood strong in Thailand’s defence
through the centuries.

The whisky

PRAKAAN’s inaugural single malts have been named ‘The Tribura Series’ – inspired by the wall’s three fortified layers and representing the Thai history, provenance and passion that is woven into every step of their creation.

Crafted with the region’s pure, high quality spring water, PRAKAAN’s sustainable, state of the art distillery features two large 30 – 50,000 cask underground warehouses, designed to carefully control maturation in the warm, humid climate. Here the spirit is matured in a mix of American Oak Ex-bourbon casks and Spanish Oak Ex-sherry casks.

The resulting three whiskies are distinctively different in taste, but share the tropical fruit notes and lush, vanilla sweetness which will come to characterize PRAKAAN and Thai whisky amongst global drinkers.

Commenting on the global launch, Veronica Amago, Global Sales Director at International Beverage said: ‘This is a historic day for our business and for Thailand as we launch the country’s first ever single malt whisky onto the world stage. PRAKAAN Distillery is the result of care, precision and skilful planning, and our whisky is defined by the skill and expertise of our formidable whisky creation team in Kamphaeng Phet. The recently awarded inaugural Tribura Series is a celebration of their achievement. We are proud and honoured to be sharing it with the world today.’

Ranging in price between £65 – £74 / €59 – €69 / $70 – $90 / ¥ 10,600 – ¥12,200, PRAKAAN single malt whisky is bottled in 70cl and will be available via specialist retailers within key global markets.

Kentucky Senator Spirits Expands to Louisiana with Launch of New Bourbon Line
Honoring Senator Huey P. Long

The celebrated John Edwards Release arrives alongside the debut of “Louisiana Senator
Bourbon” — a bold new small-batch series with deep southern roots

BATON ROUGE, LA — Kentucky Senator Spirits, LLC, the team behind the award-winning Kentucky Senator Bourbon brand, announces its expansion into Louisiana with two exciting developments: the arrival of the John Edwards Release and the debut of an all-new collection, Louisiana Senator Bourbon, beginning with The Huey P. Long Release, available July 3.

Marking a new chapter for the brand, this expansion brings the bold heritage of its small-batch Kentucky Bourbon into one of the South’s most spirited states. The inaugural Louisiana Senator Bourbon small-batch release will celebrate the colorful legacy of Senator Huey P. Long, known nationwide as “The Kingfish.”

The Huey P. Long Release is the first in a three-part vertical series featuring an 8-year, 9-year, and 10-year Bourbon over the next two years. The new line is bottled at a powerful 107 proof, with a 78% corn, 13% rye, 9% malted barley mash bill. This debut release offers a rich and complex profile—and a limited run of just 1,000 bottles, including a small batch and single barrel option. It will be distributed by Uncorked in Louisiana.

Kentucky Senator Bourbon collaborated with Denny Potter and Jane Bowie of Potter Jane Distillery in Springfield, Kentucky to blend the Louisiana Senator Bourbon Huey Long Release. Potter and Bowie will also work with Kentucky Senator Bourbon on subsequent releases of Louisiana Senator in 2026 and 2027 that will be part of a three-bottle vertical release. This collaboration is part of Kentucky Senator Bourbon’s collaboration with master distillers and blenders to produce world class Bourbon.

“We couldn’t think of a better figure to launch this new line than Huey P. Long,” said Kentucky Senator Bourbon co-founder Andre Regard. “He was bold, unapologetic and unforgettable just like this Bourbon.”

Remembered as one of the most audacious and populist voices in American political history, Senator Huey P. Long served as Louisiana’s governor from 1928–1932 and U.S. Senator from 1932 until his assassination in 1935. His “Every Man a King” philosophy and fiery charisma earned him national attention and his legacy looms large in Louisiana lore.

“Louisiana has always been Bourbon country,” said co-founder Damon Thayer, “and we’re excited to bring both Kentucky Senator and Louisiana Senator Bourbon into this vibrant community of collectors and enthusiasts.”

In addition to the new Louisiana line, Bourbon lovers in the Bayou State can also enjoy the latest in the Kentucky Senator Bourbon collection: the John Edwards Release, honoring Kentucky’s second-ever U.S. Senator and a pioneer of Bourbon County.

Aged 7.5 years and bottled at 107 proof, the John Edwards Release features a mash bill of 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley and delivers bold notes of caramel, toasted oak, and warm spice. A limited number will be available this summer in Louisiana.

ARDBEG COMMITTEE TOASTS TWO SPIRITED NEW LEADERS – Islay Whisky News

ARDBEG COMMITTEE TOASTS TWO SPIRITED NEW LEADERS

< Distillery’s fans will be even closer to its drams, under Co-Chairs’ plans >

(Left to right: Jackie Thomson, Bryony McNiven and Gillian Macdonald)

The Ardbeg Committee today welcomes its next generation of leaders, as Distillery stalwart and Committee Chair Jackie Thomson passes the smoky torch to Master Blender Gillian Macdonald and Visitor Centre Planner Bryony McNiven, an Islay native. The first pair of Chairs in the Committee’s 25-year history, these peaty devotees seek to bring Ardbeg’s fans even closer to the Distillery’s whisky making, as they expound the joys of their smoky malt to whisky lovers everywhere.

The Committee was formed in 2000 to safeguard the future of Ardbeg, which had teetered on the brink of extinction just a few years before. Now more than 200,000 strong, it is made up of dedicated fans in more than 130 countries, all devoted to ensuring that “the doors of Ardbeg never close again”. This year, Committee members celebrate 25 years as guardians of the whisky they call The Ultimate Islay malt.

A mainstay at Ardbeg since its revival, Jackie has served as Distillery Centre Manager for 27 years, and Committee Chair for the last four. Renowned for her easy smile and relentless enthusiasm, she has welcomed visitors and championed Ardbeg’s cause in countless ways. Most memorably, leading the Distillery celebrations each year on Ardbeg Day, the annual celebration of all things Ardbeg, in her own inimitable way. Jackie’s extraordinary contribution to Ardbeg’s rise from the ashes has been duly recognised by her industry peers: in 2023, she was inducted into the Icons of Whisky Hall of Fame.

Reflecting on her time at Ardbeg, Jackie said: “My mind is a-buzz with so many fantastic memories. From the outlandish costumes I’ve donned for Ardbeg Day to the musical extravaganzas we have hosted. We’ve survived power cuts, madcap experiments and a global pandemic. We have welcomed wedding parties, film crews and many Committee Members who have made the pilgrimage to Islay. It’s been a peaty privilege to get to know them all.

“I couldn’t think of two better women to pass the baton to. Bryony has worked alongside me as Ardbeg’s Visitor Centre Planner for the past seven years. And Gillian is Ardbeg’s Master Blender, no less. Together they have a shared knowledge of Ardbeg the whisky and Ardbeg the place, that is quite unique.”

As friends and colleagues who once worked side-by-side in Ardbeg’s Whisky Creation Team, Gillian and Bryony have bold plans to continue Jackie’s work – and to do even more to integrate the Committee’s views into Ardbeg’s whisky making. Gillian said: “It goes without saying that Jackie will be sorely missed by our Committee and by all at Ardbeg. Hers are big boots to fill, but Bryony and I will do our best as Co-Chairs – perhaps by wearing one each!

“In my role as Ardbeg’s Master Blender, some of my favourite moments have been creating Committee releases and letting them loose on the people whose opinion really matters. I’ve always loved meeting and talking to the Ardbeg faithful, then going back to the lab with their fiery passion ringing in my ears. As Chair, I’m excited to bring the fans and the drams even closer together.”

Following in the footsteps of her father, who worked at Ardbeg for 35 years, Bryony said: “I’ve lived and breathed Ardbeg all my life, being the daughter of a stillman. For a while I was based in Sweden as an Ardbeg brand ambassador, before working alongside Gillian in the Whisky Creation Team. But the Distillery is where my heart is, so now I’m back on Islay where my job in the Visitor Centre is to make Ardbeg the most welcoming Distillery on Earth. As Committee Chair, I can’t wait to pick up where Jackie has left off – sharing good drams, spreading the Ardbeg love and having fun!”

Ardbeg

Ardbeg prides itself on being The Ultimate Islay Malt Whisky. Established in 1815, Ardbeg is revered by connoisseurs around the world as the peatiest, smokiest and most complex of all the Islay malts. Despite its smokiness, Ardbeg is renowned for its delicious sweetness, a phenomenon that has affectionately become known as ‘the peaty paradox’. During the 1980s and 1990s, Ardbeg suffered from an uncertain future, and it was not until the brand was purchased by The Glenmorangie Company in 1997 that the Distillery was saved from extinction. Since then, the Distillery has risen like a phoenix and today Ardbeg is well-established as a niche, cult malt, with a passionate following. Today, Ardbeg is one of the world’s most highly awarded smoky single malt whiskies.

The Ardbeg Committee

The legacy of the whisky was safeguarded in 2000 by the formation of the Ardbeg Committee.  The Committee is made up of thousands of Ardbeg followers worldwide who are keen to ensure that “the doors of Ardbeg never close again”. Today there are more than 200,000 members of the Ardbeg Committee in over 130 countries.  Committee Members are regularly consulted on new bottlings and expressions and are offered exclusive Committee bottlings. Members also receive invitations to special gatherings, tastings and events. The Committee is free to join at ardbeg.com.

Awards

Ardbeg is one of the world’s most highly awarded smoky single malt whiskies.  Since 2008, Ardbeg has won more than 50 gold and double gold medals in key whisky competitions.  Ardbeg has twice been awarded ‘World’s Best Single Malt’ at the World Whiskies Awards (2010, 2013).  At the 2014 Global Icons of Whisky Awards, then Distillery Manager Mickey Heads was voted ‘Distillery Manager of the Year’.  The following year, Ardbeg’s expressions took the top three spots in Whisky Advocate magazine’s review of the best single malt Scotch whiskies under US$100.  Meanwhile, both Ardbeg Corryvreckan and Ardbeg Uigeadail have been awarded gold medals at the 2016 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Ardbeg 25 Years Old was named the World’s Best Scotch Whisky at the 2023 New York Wine Spirits Competition, and received a Platinum medal at the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

About Jackie Thomson

A leading light in the Distillery’s rise from the ashes to its cult status today, Jackie has been in charge of Ardbeg’s Visitor Centre since it officially opened its doors in 1998. Since then, she has been instrumental in creating an engaging and welcoming experience, making the Distillery a must-visit destination for visitors to Islay. What is more, Jackie has orchestrated the iconic Ardbeg Day celebrations for two decades, ensuring that it is one of the biggest days in the Distillery’s calendar and the crescendo of Islay’s annual Fèis Ìle festival of music and malt.

In 2021, Jackie became Chair of the Committee. Bringing her infectious enthusiasm to the role, she has inspired new single malt drinkers and Ardbeg enthusiasts across the globe.  From her outlandish Ardbeg Day costumes, to her unusual choice of vessel from which to drink Ardbeg (a Viking horn), Jackie has set a high Ardbeggian bar for her successors.

About Gillian Macdonald

With 13 years at Ardbeg under her belt, Master Blender and Head of Whisky Creation Gillian knows more about creating the world’s smokiest, peatiest Islay malt than almost anyone else. On a daily basis she ensures the quality of Ardbeg’s permanent whiskies, and noses hundreds of casks each year, destined for new releases. Gillian, who became the UK’s first female distiller when she joined the industry in 2003, holds a first-class Honours degree in Chemistry with Industrial Experience. A self-confessed “tramp-through-a-peat-bog” kind of Ardbeggian, she also has a real soft spot for Shortie, Ardbeg’s canine mascot.

About Bryony McNiven

Bryony’s ties to Ardbeg run deep — her dad was a stillman at Ardbeg for 35 years. A summer job during her chemistry studies led to roles as a brand ambassador in Sweden and six years in the Whisky Creation Team. She returned to Islay in 2018 as Visitor Centre Planner, where no two days are the same. From leading tours to sharing drams and keeping the visitor centre ticking over, Bryony is proud to call her favourite place in the world home.

The Glenmorangie Company

The Company is one of the most renowned and innovative distillers and marketers of Scotch whisky brands worldwide and is part of Moët Hennessy, the wine and spirits division of Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton. LOST LANTERN LAUNCHES SUMMER 2025 ESTATE DISTILLERY COLLECTION – American Whiskey News

LOST LANTERN LAUNCHES SUMMER 2025 ESTATE DISTILLERY COLLECTION

Celebrating the Rise of Farm Distilleries in America

Vergennes, VT (June 3, 2025) — Lost Lantern, the award-winning independent bottler of American whiskey, is proud to announce its Summer 2025 Collection, celebrating the rise of estate distilleries, one of the most exciting trends in American whiskey today.

Estate distilleries—those that make whiskey using grain grown entirely on their own land—make spirits with a true sense of place, shaped by the climate, the land, and the people who steward it. While estate wineries have long been celebrated in the wine world, true estate distilleries were almost unheard of until recently. Out of more than 3,000 distilleries in the United States, only a small handful grow their own grain. Lost Lantern’s new collection fêtes four that do: Frey Ranch (NV), Corbin Cash (CA), and new partners Whiskey Acres (IL) and Far North Spirits (MN).

“Though they come from different corners of the country and vastly different climates, these distilleries share a common ethos: crafting whiskies that truly reflect the land, while also prioritizing its stewardship,” explains Lost Lantern Co-Founder Nora Ganley-Roper.

“It’s no surprise that all are four are founded and owned by multi-generational farming families who’ve worked their land for a century or more,” adds Co-Founder Adam Polonski. “Now they have found a new way to share the bounty of their land with whiskey lovers across the country.”

Rooted in that heritage and commitment to place, Lost Lantern’s Summer Collection also introduces two new estate blends, called Farmers’ Fields Bourbon and Farmers’ Fields Rye. These limited-edition blends are unique to the Collection and feature Lost Lantern’s signature navy label, denoting a multi-distillery blend, along with a color-coded strip over the closure: red for bourbon, green for rye.

The collection will be available starting Wednesday, June 25th via LostLanternWhiskey.com, Seelbachs.com, select retailers in CA, NY, MA, RI, and at the Lost Lantern Tasting Room in Vergennes, VT. All releases are non-chill-filtered, bottled at cask strength, and have no added color.

“Our Bourbon Trail™ distillers – from the largest to the smallest – continue to create new ways for visitors to experience our mellow, amber nectar,” Gregory said. “There’s more to do, see, and taste than ever before.”

It’s easier to plan than ever before, too.

As part of its 25th anniversary rebrand, the KDA created a bold new look and feel for the tour, including a website and new digital tools that makes it easier for visitors to plan their trip and “Build Your Own Bourbon Trail®” based on their individual preferences and interests.

Kentucky Bourbon Trail® communities and partners continue to welcome guests with new restaurants, hotels, bars and more, reaping benefits from an affluent demographic that trends younger, stays longer and has more disposable income than an average Kentucky tourist.

  • 62% of Kentucky Bourbon Trail® visitors have incomes above $100,000
  • 76% of visitors are from outside of Kentucky

Embrace The Spirit Of Rio And A Harmony Of Flavours With The Royal Salute 21 Year Old Rio De Janeiro Polo Edition – Scotch Whisky News

Embrace The Spirit Of Rio And A Harmony Of Flavours With The Royal Salute 21 Year Old Rio De Janeiro Polo Edition

Royal Salute, the master of exceptionally aged Scotch whisky, invites whisky lovers and cultural vultures alike to embrace the spirit of Rio de Janeiro with the latest addition in its iconic Polo Collection; the Royal Salute 21 Year Old Rio de Janeiro Polo Edition.

Born from a unique legacy, Royal Salute’s enduring affinity with polo is the inspiration at the heart of this contemporary collection of limited-edition whiskies. The 21 Year Old Rio de Janeiro Polo Edition, the seventh in the series, captures the vibrant soul of Rio de Janeiro, the undisputed capital of Brazilian polo. Here, amidst the fields of Helvetia and the energy of Rio’s streets, the sport thrives with an unparalleled passion, echoing the exhilarating blend of skill, honour, and grace shared by both polo and Royal Salute’s exceptional whiskies.

As a tribute to this emblematic location, Royal Salute’s Master Blender, Sandy Hyslop, expertly crafted the bespoke 21 Year Old Blended Malt whisky with a rich, fruity flavour that echoes Rio’s famously dynamic culture. A portion of this complex blend includes precious whiskies from Braeval Distillery matured in first-fill casks, offering fresh floral and grassy notes, reminiscent of Rio’s lush green landscape. Working harmoniously with other malt whiskies aged in American Oak casks, which bring sweet and creamy vanilla and coconut notes, the resulting blend is superbly smooth.

Commenting on the latest release, Sandy Hyslop said: “Coming alive with the creamy sweetness of vanilla and coconut, the fruity notes in this blended malt whisky are like an intricate dance – much like the Bossa Nova performed on a warm Brazilian evening. To make a blend as special as its inspiration, we incorporated Braeval whisky matured in first-fill casks. This has not only allowed us to give it a new dimension, but it also resulted in a taste experience as captivating and multi-layered as Rio itself, a true representation of the city’s irresistible charm.”

Capturing the energy of Rio de Janeiro, the exquisite 21 Year Old Rio de Janeiro Polo Edition is presented in a vivid green flagon, echoing the city’s breathtaking green landscapes, elevated with luxurious golden accents as a nod to the iconic Brazilian flag. This exceptional whisky is protected within a beautiful presentation box, showcasing Rio’s dramatic cityscape juxtaposed against its stunning natural beauty.

Royal Salute World Polo Ambassador, Malcolm Borwick, comments: “The popularity of polo in Brazil is at an all-time high, which along with the stunning landscapes and dynamic energy, is somewhere I’ve always really loved to play and spend time. The city’s cultural energy is electric, and so it’s a fitting destination to honour within the Royal Salute Polo Collection. I look forward to savouring this new blend after my next polo match there.”

The Royal Salute 21 Year Old Rio de Janeiro Polo Edition is available in limited quantities at specialist retailers globally from 1st April 2025 at an RRP from $190 USD. Follow @royalsalute and visit royalsalute.com to discover more.

Ahascragh Distillery Releases Clan Colla 9-Year-Old as Part of its Acclaimed Family Bond Collection – Irish Whiskey News

Ahascragh Distillery Releases Clan Colla 9-Year-Old as Part of its Acclaimed Family Bond Collection

Ahascragh, County Galway, Ireland — Ahascragh Distillery is proud to announce the launch of Clan Colla 9-Year-Old, the newest expression in its acclaimed Clan Colla Family Bond collection.

This unique release marks an exciting milestone as the first Bordeaux wine cask-finished whiskey in the series — an innovative blend that promises to attract Irish whiskey lovers both in Ireland and around the world.

Clan Colla 9-Year-Old is a blend of fine malt and grain whiskeys. It is first matured in traditional ex-Bourbon barrels before being carefully finished in Bordeaux red wine casks, the first from the distillery’s Family Bond series to have this finish. This dual maturation creates an exquisite balance of bold spice and rich, fruity depth.

“We are incredibly proud of Clan Colla 9,” says Gareth McAllister, founder and CEO at Ahascragh Distillery. “This Irish whiskey showcases our continued commitment to quality and innovation, with the Bordeaux cask finish introducing a whole new layer of complexity and elegance.”

Tasting Profile

  • Nose: Sweet toffee and brown sugar with a subtle hint of fruitiness
  • Taste: A peppery spiciness that softens into creamy, fruity flavours from the Bordeaux wine finish
  • Finish: A distinct woodiness with gentle vanilla notes

Bottled at 46% ABV and presented in a 70cl format, Clan Colla 9 is non-chill filtered to preserve its full-bodied flavour and mouthfeel. With its intricate character and smooth, oaky warmth, this release is a standout addition to any collection and a testament to Irish whiskey craftsmanship.

Clan Colla 9-Year-Old joins the rest of the Family Bond series, which features Clan Colla 7, Clan Colla 11, Clan Colla 13, Clan Colla 19, and Clan Colla 20.

It is now available through select retailers, specialist whiskey outlets, and online at ahascraghdistillery.com

About Ahascragh Distillery & the Clan Colla Family Bond Series Founded in 2018 by Gareth and Michelle McAllister, Ahascragh Distillery is a family-run operation based in the heart of County Galway, producing world-class whiskeys and gin.

The Clan Colla Family Bond series represents the start of their whiskey journey. It’s a collection of hand-selected, premium Irish whiskeys that although not distilled by Ahascragh Distillery, are partly matured, finished, and blended by the distillery and bottled in the whiskey’s home in the West of Ireland.

The name “Clan Colla” draws from ancient Irish lore and is a reference to the legendary three Collas of Oriel: Colla Uais, Colla Fo Chrí, and Colla Menn. These warrior brothers ruled much of Ireland in the 4th century, with Colla Uais ascending as Ard Rí, the High King of Ireland. The McAllister family can trace its ancestry to this ancient and noble line, a connection that both inspired the founding of the distillery and continues to shape its vision today.

Sazerac’s Hawk’s Rock Distillery Releases its Inaugural Whiskey: Garavogue 20-Year-Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey – Irish Whiskey News

Sazerac’s Hawk’s Rock Distillery Releases its Inaugural Whiskey:

Garavogue 20-Year-Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey

Blended by Master Blender Helen Mulholland, the first whiskey brand released by Hawk’s Rock Distillery celebrates innovation, exploration and local heritage

County Sligo, Ireland (June 4, 2025) – The Sazerac Company, one of the world’s largest distilled spirits companies, is thrilled to celebrate the release of its inaugural Irish whiskey from Hawk’s Rock Distillery: Garavogue 20 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey. Crafted by Master Blender Helen Mulholland, the first female Master Blender in Irish Whiskey history, this new-to-world whiskey brand embodies Sazerac’s dedication to world class distillation, aging and blending.

Named after the river that flows past the Distillery through Sligo town into the Atlantic Ocean, Garavogue Whiskey is a bridge between past and present, honoring the rich traditions of Irish whiskey while embracing innovation and discovery. Every small-batch release under the Garavogue name will be limited and experimental in nature, exploring different ages, maturation techniques and possibly even different types of Irish whiskey.

For its inaugural and limited release expression, Garavogue 20-Year-Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey offers a rare take on traditional Irish Whiskey with both unexpected and familiar flavors due to its unique maturation involving multiple types of casks. Double-distilled and initially aged for a minimum of 14 years in ex-bourbon American oak casks, the whiskey was then transferred into a variety of unique finishing casks including French Muscat, French Sauternes, Spanish Pedro Ximénez Sherry and Barbadian Rum casks for further maturation. The result is a 94-proof whiskey with aromas of vanilla, warm peach, and spun sugar from the Sauternes cask influence, while floral and raisin notes from the Muscat and Sherry casks emerge on the nose.  On the palate, vanilla and citrus sweetness complement buttery ripe apples, while fresh fruit flavors from the rum cask create a prominent sweet finish.

“The current trend is for whiskey to have a rich sherry finish, but Garavogue is purposefully different,” says Master Blender Helen Mulholland. “We believe that complexity and subtlety can work hand in hand. It is unusual for a whiskey to be blended with this number and variety of casks, but just as the river ebbs and flows, the flavors create a wonderful blend as they weave together in this 20-year-old single malt.”

Release #1 is housed in a distinctive reversed crescent shapeeflecting the Garavogue River’s influence including subtle wave patterns that mirror the motion of water. The label also features imagery and coordinates for the Hazelwood House Windmill – an enduring landmark on the grounds of Hawk’s Rock – in tribute to the historical figures who lived and worked along Garavogue’s banks.

“We hope that Garavogue Whiskey invites Irish Whiskey fans to linger, explore and uncover the hidden stories of Sligo,” remarks Jess Scheerhorn, Vice President at Sazerac. “The Garavogue River shaped this beautiful landscape for millenniums, and Garavogue Irish Whiskey aims to shape new experiences, connections and traditions – one sip at a time.”

Garavogue Whiskey will begin rolling out in limited quantities as of June 2025 at a suggested retail price of $199 (700ML) through Sazerac’s distributor networks across the United States, Ireland, United Kingdom and Duty-Free. A limited supply will also be available for purchase directly via Legacy de Forge, a new Sazerac branded global platform powered by Blockbar for purchasing some of the world’s most coveted bottles. Please visit LegacydeForge.com for more information.

Garavogue Whiskey is the first release from Sazerac’s recently rebranded Hawk’s Rock Distillery, which is named after a prominent outcrop in the Ox Mountains known for inspiring Nobel Prize winning poet William Butler (W.B.) Yeats, who called Sligo his “spiritual home.” In April 2025, Hawk’s Rock owner, Sazerac Company, announced the renaming of Hawk’s Rock Distillery from Lough Gill Distillery, referring to the name change as a reflection of the company vision for the future – blending curiosity, innovation and respect for Sligo’s heritage.

Georgetown, Kentucky Unveils “Bourbon Genesis” Inviting Travelers To Celebrate The Site Where Bourbon Began – American Whiskey News

Exclusive Elijah Craig Single Barrel Bourbon Genesis Bottling Available Starting June 13

GEORGETOWN, KY (Jun 11, 2025) – Georgetown, Kentucky, proudly launches Bourbon Genesis, a new campaign inviting bourbon enthusiasts and history lovers to discover the birthplace of America’s native spirit. This initiative places Georgetown at the heart of Kentucky’s bourbon journey, honoring its legacy as the site where Reverend Elijah Craig first distilled bourbon in 1789.

At the center of this story is Royal Spring Park, nestled in historic downtown Georgetown. Here, Elijah Craig, a fiery Baptist preacher turned pioneering distiller, used the limestone-rich spring water to create a whiskey unlike any other. That same year, Craig became the first to age whiskey in new charred oak barrels, a process that defines bourbon to this day, imparting its signature amber hue and flavors of caramel, vanilla, and spice.

“Bourbon Genesis is more than a campaign, it’s a pilgrimage to where bourbon began,” said Lori Saunders, executive director of the Georgetown/Scott County Tourism Commission.

Georgetown continues to reflect Craig’s spirit of innovation and hospitality, offering visitors a vibrant blend of food, drink, and culture in its walkable downtown.

To kick off the campaign, a group of bourbon influencers visited Georgetown, starting with a private meeting at Local Feed with Chef Justin Thompson, before touring the Heaven Hill Bourbon Experience to select a special barrel of Elijah Craig Bourbon, which was bottled as Bourbon Genesis Single Barrel.

This exclusive Bourbon Genesis bottle, a private barrel pick from Heaven Hill, will debut at the Founders’ Sip event hosted by Maime’s Fine Wine & Gifts in Georgetown on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. Following the release, bottles will be available for purchase at Maime’s. Jeremy Atwood, a Kentucky native and Lead Bourbon Educator at Heaven Hill, will be leading the Founders Sip event. A former non-profit leader, Jeremy holds degrees in History and Theology and now shares his deep love of bourbon and storytelling with guests from around the world. Taste, Select, Repeat members will receive the bottle in their summer subscription.

The Bourbon Genesis barrel was handpicked by a panel of esteemed bourbon voices: Orlando “OJ” Lima, Jack Beguedou, Victor Sizemore, Tom Wilmes, Seth Thompson, Jess Ann Zimlich, Jeremy Chapline, Justin Thompson, and Chad Cole. Notably, Beguedou was named Top Spirits Influencer by the American Distilling Institute in 2024.

Attendees will be among the first to experience the Founders’ Sip and can purchase one bottle of Bourbon Genesis during the event. Suggested retail pricing is $115 per 750 mL and it is 123 proof.  Tickets will be distributed first-come, first-served at the door.
