Rare 16yr Kentucky Single Malt Whiskey Released by Town Branch Distillery

Town Branch Distillery – Archive Series Volume 2

LEXINGTON, Ky, — Town Branch Distillery, the 7th member of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail® and the heart of Lexington Brewing & Distilling Co.—releases a rare 16yr Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky Single Malt Whiskey as Vol. 2 of its Archive Series, 100 proof, non-chilled filtered, single barrel expression with a suggested retail price of $399.99 for a 750ml bottle.

Exploring the Town Branch Bottled-in-Bond Archive Series

The Archive Series from Town Branch is a collection of rare American Single Malts, introduced in 2024, showcasing the oldest Kentucky Single Malt Whiskey ever bottled-in-bond. Over the coming years, Town Branch will continue unveiling these exceptional whiskeys to the world. The inaugural installment features a vertical of bottled-in-bond Kentucky Single Malt Whiskeys — each age-stated, single-barrel, and bottled under bond — crafted to preserve and celebrate these extraordinary stocks.

The emerging category of American Single Malt Whiskey continues to evolve, with distillers across the country exploring regional variations in production methods, still types, fermentation styles, aging regiments, finishes, and countless other factors that influence a whiskey’s final character. At Town Branch Distillery in Lexington, Kentucky, regionality is equally essential. Situated on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail® among some of the finest whiskey distilleries in the world, Town Branch stands as the first new distillery built in Lexington since Prohibition and the first to distill single malt whiskey in Kentucky in over a century — blending history, heritage, and legacy into every bottle.

Adding to this living legacy, the distillery honors the ancient traditions of Single Malt Whiskey through the use of Forsyths dual copper pot stills, imported directly from Scotland to the heart of Kentucky, uniting the birthplace of single malt whiskey craftsmanship with Kentucky’s storied whiskey-making heritage.

“It is an honor and a privilege for our distillery to release a whiskey like this to the world—one that showcases the breadth of whiskey production in Kentucky beyond just bourbon,” said Robert Krass, Managing Director at Town Branch Distillery. “Our entire team is proud to continue making history, one whiskey at a time.”

Archive Series Volume 1 – Barrel No. 222 | Filled: July 2, 2009 (Lot 09G02) | Released: 2024 | 15 Years Old

Town Branch 15yr Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky Single Malt Whiskey was the inaugural release of the Archive Series and set the tone for what was to come — a perfect balance between American Whiskey and Single Malt Whiskey. Aged 15 years in former Kentucky bourbon barrels, this golden amber spirit offered aromas of ripe dried fruit, candied green apple, and warm spice. The palate unfolded with notes of spiced bread, herbal tea, caramel, and honey, finishing with lingering impressions of dried spice, citrus, and salted leather. Rich, robust, and expressive — a fitting beginning to this historic series. Only 108 bottles of this whiskey were released in 2024.

Archive Series Volume 2 – Barrel No. 223 | Filled: July 15, 2009 (Lot 09G15) | Released: October 2025 | 16 Years Old

Town Branch 16yr Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky Single Malt Whiskey is the second installment in the Archive Series which continues the exploration of what American Single Malt Whiskey can be — refined, expressive, and unmistakably from Kentucky. This light gold whiskey opens with aromas of marzipan, cinnamon, oatmeal, dried fruit, and honey. On the palate, layers of baking spice, buttercream, coconut, and black cherry unfold gracefully, leading to a long, elegant finish of sweet oak, orange peel, and vanilla. Richly layered yet impeccably balanced, Volume 2 exemplifies the sophistication and depth of the American Single Malt category. Only 57 bottles of this whiskey were released in 2025.

Timorous Beastie Highland Malt “Phantom Smoke” Limited Edition

Douglas Laing & Co. today proudly introduces a daring new chapter for its award-winning Highland Malt with the launch of Timorous Beastie Phantom Smoke, a Limited-Edition expression that marks the first time peat has been introduced to the beloved “mighty mouse” brand.

This innovative bottling marries a peated Highland Malt with classic Timorous Beastie spirit that has undergone an extended maturation in Crocodile Casks – heavily charred oak barrels that impart intense depth and complexity. Bottled at a formidable 54.2% ABV and offered without colouring or chill-filtration, Phantom Smoke remains true to Douglas Laing’s philosophy of bottling Scotch Whisky “as natural as it gets.”

The result is a hauntingly harmonious dram, described with tasting notes as:

Nose: Crackling with smouldering peat, scorched spice, and charred oak.
Palate: Layers of Highland sweetness emerge beneath the smoke, creating a bold yet balanced experience.

“Phantom Smoke is a bold step for Timorous Beastie – a whisky that introduces peat for the very first time in the brand’s history. Combined with the dramatic influence of Crocodile Casks, it offers a completely new flavour journey for our Highland Malt, while retaining the sweet charm our Timorous Beastie fans know and love.”

With a UK RRP of £60.00 / €69.00, Timorous Beastie Phantom Smoke is available from specialist spirits retailers globally and online.

200-year-old Glencadam Distillery opens doors to new multi-million-pound whisky experience – Scotch Whisky News

200-year-old Glencadam Distillery opens doors to new multi-million-pound whisky experience

Historic East Highland distillery, Glencadam, has officially opened the doors to its brand-new visitor centre in Brechin, inviting guests from around the world to experience two centuries of craftsmanship in a state-of-the-art setting.

The launch marks a landmark moment in Glencadam’s bicentennial year, with the multi-million-pound development offering guests an immersive exploration of the distillery’s heritage and whisky-making artistry, with an intimate look behind the scenes of this storied distillery for the first time in its 200-year history.

From Saturday (15 November) visitors can enjoy guided tours, tutored tastings and an interactive exhibition, tracing Glencadam’s journey from its 1825 origins to its place among Scotland’s most celebrated single malts today. The new brand home also features a whisky lounge, café, retail shop and function suite, blending tradition with modern hospitality.

The new visitor centre is expected to generate significant benefits for the community, having already created 12 new job opportunities across hospitality, retail and tours, and is expected to attract tourism to the Highlands from across Scotland and beyond.

Iain Lochhead, Director at Angus Dundee Distillers, owners of Glencadam Distillery, said: “Opening our doors today is a moment of immense pride for everyone at Glencadam. This visitor centre is more than a building — it’s a celebration of 200 years of tradition, people and place, providing a unique opportunity to explore the history, craftsmanship and stories behind one of Scotland’s oldest working distilleries. It marks an exciting new chapter not just for Glencadam Distillery, but for the entire Brechin community.”

With a commitment to preserving Glencadam’s rich history, original features of the distillery have been carefully reimagined, alongside its contemporary interiors. A defining feature of the new visitor centre is the regenerated stone façade, crafted using reclaimed stone from the former Brechin Infirmary, preserving the town’s architectural heritage while celebrating Glencadam’s historic character. A working internal waterwheel, modelled on the original which was used to power the distillery back in 1825, has also been included in the new design, as a nod to the brand’s heritage.

Above the striking entrance, two Doig Ventilators, inspired by original Charles Doig 19th-century designs, now crown the building, bringing natural light and ventilation into the space. Each features an ornamental spire and ball, replicating the original pagoda style in the skyline of Brechin.

From the distinctive vertical seams of the pagodas to the interactive exhibition space, every detail has been designed to tell the story of Glencadam in Scotland’s whisky legacy.

Project Manager Gary Milligan said: “Every element tells the story of Glencadam’s enduring craft and connection to place. It’s about honouring the past while investing in the community for generations to come.”

Leading the new visitor experience are Brand Home Manager Michael van der Veen and Deputy Brand Home Manager Lauren Oliver, who have worked closely with the wider Glencadam team to create a warm, authentic and world-class welcome for guests.

Tours will run Thursday through Monday, from Saturday 15 November, with the retail shop open seven days a week.

Iain Lochhead added: “Whether you’re discovering Glencadam for the first time or returning as a long-time fan, our new visitor centre allows us to share the depth of our history, the craft behind each dram and the people who have shaped our story over two centuries. We can’t wait to share the next chapter of our story with you.”

As the team raise their first dram in the new whisky lounge, Glencadam looks firmly to the future as it continues to craft its award-winning single malt whisky while welcoming guests to explore where it all began, right in the heart of Brechin.

Bookings for tours and tasting experiences are now live at www.GlencadamWhisky.com

Glencadam Distillery

Established in 1825, Glencadam Distillery is steeped in history, heritage and tradition, handcrafting single malt Scotch whisky in a process that’s remained unchanged for 200 years. In 2021, Glencadam Distillery re-installed a working internal waterwheel, modelled on the original which was used to power the distillery back in in 1825.

One of Scotland’s oldest distilleries, Glencadam was mothballed for several years before it was purchased and re-opened by Angus Dundee Distillers in 2003.

Today, Glencadam’s multi-award-winning range includes American Oak Reserve, Reserva Andalucía, the 10-Year-Old, 13-Year-Old, 15-Year-Old, 18-Year-Old and 25-Year-Old expressions, as well as a series of special cask finishes.

The London Distillery Company reimagines its past with the launch of Yesteryear – English Whisky News

The London Distillery Company reimagines its past with the launch of Yesteryear

The London Distillery Company (TLDC) is proud to announce the launch of Yesteryear – a six-year-old single London rye whisky that reimagines the distillery’s original LV-1767 Edition, first released in 2018.

Yesteryear was crafted from the remnants of TLDC’s landmark release – the first new whisky distilled in London for over a century. Revived from glass, inherited with the purchase of the company by Gleann Mòr Spirits, the LV-1767 whisky was returned to wood for an additional two years of maturation, resulting in a reconceptualised expression of the whisky that started it all.

Founded with an ambition to reconnect London to its distilling roots, TLDC helped reignite whisky making in the capital, combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary curiosity. Yesteryear continues that story. The new release preserves the distinctive rye character of LV-1767’s original distillate while exploring what that inaugural release might have been if crafted for today. The result is a whisky that feels both familiar and new – a perfect harmony of history and progress.

Alongside TLDC’s legacy casks, the remains of the LV-1767 Edition were discovered preserved in glass – a forgotten milestone in London’s whisky renaissance. Crafted from 100% Warminster Rye and matured in English oak, TLDC’s first release was laid down in October 2014 and bottled in 2018. It was named the LV-1767 Edition in recognition of the last company to successfully produce whiskey in London – Lea Valley Distillery. Rather than leaving the milestone release as an artefact, the distillery’s revival team sought to return the spirit to wood, to let it mature once more and evolve into something truly contemporary.

Following eighteen months additional maturation in first-fill sherry octaves, the whisky was then reassembled into a refill sherry quarter cask for six months, allowing the aromas and flavours to marry into a cohesive whole. The result is a six-year-old rye whisky that embodies London’s dual identity – steeped in tradition, yet unafraid to reinvent itself.

Only 188 bottles of Yesteryear have been produced. Bottled at 52.3% ABV and with an RRP of £69.95, they will initially be available from www.londondistillery.co.uk from Friday 14th November.

Speaking of the launch, Matt McKay, TLDC Managing Director and Whisky Maker said “Yesteryear marks a full-circle moment for The London Distillery Company. It honours the whisky that started the journey, while signalling what’s still to come. It’s a testament to the idea that craftsmanship is not static – that heritage, when approached with creativity and respect, can become a foundation for innovation. Yesteryear is a whisky born of our past, that has been shaped by our present, and that confidently points towards our future.

Nose: Seville oranges join sugar-coated red berries, while clove and cinnamon mingle with rich toffee and luxurious chocolate.

Palate: Thickly textured marmalade and buttery toffee sit alongside classic rye spices, whilst malty biscuits join toasted almonds and cocoa nibs.

Finish: Lingering cinnamon and herbaceous rye snuggle up to berry fruit tea and well-balanced cask-led pepperiness.

Chivas Brothers unveils The Glenlivet Eternal Collection, Second Edition, 56 Year Old, 1 of 1 — a one-of-a-kind auction release in partnership with Sotheby’s – Scotch Whisky News

Chivas Brothers unveils The Glenlivet Eternal Collection, Second Edition, 56 Year Old, 1 of 1 — a one-of-a-kind auction release in partnership with Sotheby’s

London, November 2025 – Chivas Brothers, the Pernod Ricard business dedicated to Scotch whisky and makers of The Glenlivet and Aberlour, today reveals the second release in its landmark partnership with Sotheby’s to bring never-before-released whiskies to discerning collectors.

The Glenlivet Eternal Collection, Second Edition, 56 Year Old, 1 of 1 represents the pinnacle of more than five decades of craftsmanship, innovation and maturation expertise. Master Blender Kevin Balmforth collaborated with sherry suppliers in Spain to craft a bespoke seasoning blend — combining Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez and Palo Cortado — which seasoned a new Spanish Oak cask before the whisky was laid down over four years ago. The ageing journey was a combination of this bespoke sherry butt and American oak barrel, adding layers of vanilla and toffee to complement The Glenlivet’s hallmark orchard fruit and honeyed richness. The combined result of these two casks is a singular, exceptionally aged single malt offering extraordinary depth, shaped by a finishing process unlike anything in the brand’s history, one that exemplifies Chivas Brothers’ craft of truly one-of-a-kind whiskies defined by rarity, provenance and masterful artistry.

This exclusive single malt lot is presented in a 24 carat gold-plated spherical glass decanter, adorned with  gold engravings of heather branches. Its bespoke bar top features an exceptional 137.73 carat lab-grown Paraiba Tourmaline simulant.   The whisky is accompanied by a bespoke sculptural plinth crafted by acclaimed artists Fredrikson Stallard, featuring  3D-printed heather branches plated in 24 carat gold that rise from a base of Guatemalan green marble. Inspired by Speyside’s dramatic terrain, the design echoes the whisky’s complexity and the rugged beauty of its Scottish homeland.

The Glenlivet Eternal Collection, Second Edition, 56 Year Old, 1 of 1 will be offered solely through Sotheby’s Finest & Rarest Whisky auction, running from 6–20 November 2025. Proceeds will support the National Trust for Scotland’s excavation work within the Cairngorms, where erosion threatens archaeological remains that could unlock new understanding of prehistoric life in the region. The initiative builds upon a five-year partnership between The Glenlivet and the Trust.

This announcement follows the recent record-breaking Distillers One of One® Charity Auction, held with Sotheby’s on 10 October 2025, where The Glenlivet SPIRA 60 Year Old 1965 achieved a record selling price of £650,000 — the highest bid ever recorded for the brand at auction and highest ever single bottle lot record at The Distillers One of One auctions to date. As Scotch cements its position as the world’s leading status spirit, Chivas Brothers’ diverse portfolio of high-end and exceptionally rare whiskies is perfectly positioned to meet the demand for rare, investment-grade and prestigious Scotch.

Jacques-Henri Brive, Global Head of Luxury Development at Chivas Brothers, said: “Through our partnership with Sotheby’s, we are unlocking exclusive access to previously unseen rare Scotch from the archives of Chivas Brothers — broadening the horizons for luxury spirits collectors around the world. The Glenlivet Eternal Collection, Second Edition, 56 Year Old, 1 of 1 reflects our legacy of creating the world’s finest high-aged Scotch, giving the most discerning collectors an opportunity to own their own slice of Scotch whisky heritage.”

Jonny Fowle, Global Head of Spirits at Sotheby’s, said: “It’s a real honour to continue our partnership with Chivas Brothers, offering collectors exclusive access to some of the rarest Scotch whiskies in existence. Even as the auction market steadies for fine and rare whisky, demand for truly exceptional liquid remains unwavering — and Chivas Brothers is uniquely positioned to meet that appetite with whiskies that are defined by scarcity, provenance and artistry. With The Glenlivet Eternal Collection, Second Edition 56 Year Old, 1 of 1, we are once again bringing an extraordinary expression of luxury Scotch to the global stage.”

The Glenlivet Eternal Collection, Second Edition, 56 Year Old, 1 of 1 carries an estimate of £35,000-£70,000. Bottled at 42.7%, this expression offers notes of poached plums, sticky dates and luscious dark chocolate ganache on the nose, with a taste of fresh blackberries, ripe banana and cherry compote and a velvety sweet, complex finish with enduring notes of dark chocolate.

REFINED No.3 (58.3% ABV) is priced at €265. The whisky will be available to purchase in the UK from The Whisky Exchange Online, as well as leading speciality whisky retailers worldwide and online in Northern Europe via the Copenhagen Distillery website.

Tomatin continues grocery success with 10-year-old single malt whisky – Scotch Whisky News

Tomatin continues grocery success with 10-year-old single malt whisky

Highland distiller Tomatin has released an exceptional new bourbon matured 10-year-old single malt whisky created specifically for the grocery and convenience channels.

Available in Waitrose and on Amazon from 9 November 2025, Tomatin 10 Year Old has been carefully curated to offer a taste of luxury at an affordable and accessible price point. The release, bottled at 40% ABV and retailing at £42, further establishes Tomatin in the UK grocery channel and introduces a new aged single malt from the distillery to the sector.

The new expression follows the success of Tomatin Double Cask which was launched in Tesco and on Amazon earlier this year, and is being rolled out in export markets over the next 12 months. The supermarket range’s refreshed outer packaging is designed to enhance shelf stand out in both grocery and convenience environments.

Scott Adamson, blender and global brand ambassador at Tomatin, said: “Our new 10-year-old single malt isn’t a traditional whisky, and this is all down to our cask choice. It’s impossible to hide a bad whisky in a bourbon barrel, and the art of maturation in these very special casks is something we’ve perfected over the years to create a quality, honest whisky.

“Having spent much of the past decade experimenting with different cask types and appreciating the range of flavours which can be crafted through maturation, Tomatin 10 Year Old is exquisite in its simplicity. As a distillery, we do bourbon very well, and we’re proud to release this exceptional whisky.”

Gordon Hynd, UK sales director at Tomatin, said: “Tomatin is going from strength to strength in the grocery and convenience sectors as we further establish the brand in these channels. Tomatin 10 Year Old is a welcome age-statement addition to our supermarket range which, as with Tomatin Double Cask, has been developed with customer requirements front of mind – creating a whisky synonymous with accessible luxury.

“This single malt has been designed to expand on our existing range and increase distribution to our UK retail partners, in addition to the existing channels already represented by the rest of our distillery’s core products.”

While most Tomatin whiskies have been matured in sherry, port or wine casks, Tomatin 10 Year Old is exclusively matured for a decade in bourbon casks, creating a single malt with a sweet, fruity, buttery profile designed to appeal to the curious consumer.
