Whiskybroker.co.uk Cask & Bottle Update – Scotch Whisky News

Whiskybroker.co.uk Cask & Bottle Update

Evening / Morning all,

First of all, please accept my apologies for the poor quality of the photographs above – the only way I can keep the email size small is by having low quality photographs. To see them properly, please visit my online shop or Facebook Page (links at the bottom of this email).

As usual, I find myself writing an email at 10pm, having spent the night doing HMRC paperwork. This is just a quick update to tell you that I have the following new bottlings on my online shop:

22 year old Bruichladdich, with Christmas label and option of adding a friend’s name to give the bottle as a gift. £39.
28 year old Tormore, 54% – for those of you who haven’t already seen this, there are 25 bottles remaining. £65
27 year old Auchentoshan, 53.9% – 16 bottles remaining. £65
19 year old Deanston, 53.4% – 25 bottles remaining. £37.50
17 year old Tobermory, 52%. £34.50
17 year old Mortlach, 52.2%. £37.00
17 year old Linkwood, 51.2%. £37.00

Plus more that you’ve probably already heard about on my website!

If you’d like to receive any bottles in time for Christmas, please place your order on my online shop by Sunday 9th December so that they can be packed and collected by the courier on Monday 10th. As usual, any trade customers who’d like to discuss buying larger quantities please send me an email.

I’ve also just purchased some new casks, which I’ll be collecting in the New Year. They are:

2 x 07/05/1990 Strathmill sherry butts to be split into 60 litre shares.
5 x barrels 1992 Dailuaine.
2 x hogsheads of 1991 Blair Athol.

These will be re-gauged upon collection and priced according to quantity.

Thanks for reading. Hopefully it will be more exciting next time!

News From Milroy’s Of Soho – Whisky News

December is proving to be a bumper month for fantastic rare single cask releases!

Our independent bottling of Cooley’s Single Malt can be snapped up for £55; until recently Cooley was the only privately owned distillery in Ireland before being sold to multinational Beam for a cool £60million in late 2011, making our limited release of only 394 bottles an increasingly rare collector’s item.

Even fewer—146—were bottled from Milroy’s selected cask of Glen Garioch, filled in November 1978 and matured for 33 years in a North American oak cask in the Aberdeenshire distillery. Customers and staff were blown away by its supreme elegance at the launch at our store in Soho earlier this month; retailing at £300 and exclusive to Milroy’s, this is a remarkable dram indeed, and one of many superb highlights new in this season.

FWL Whiskey: Black Bowmore 1964, Ernie Shackleton’s Hooch, Bourbon Marshmallows – Sticky Whisky News

This weeks email features three amazing gifts for the WhiskeyLovers in your life: An extremely rare whisky for one very lucky collector, a second whiskey ‘rediscovered” by popular demand, and a treat that every whisky lover will enjoy.

First, for one very lucky person, we have been able to get our hands on what is possibly the last bottle of Black Bowmore 1964 in the United States. Distilled on 5th November 1964, this first installment of the Bowmore 1964 Trilogy was carefully filled into Oloroso sherry casks where it spent the next four decades (42 years, to be exact) perfecting its stunning aroma and palate, and the rich, deep, dark, almost ebony color reflected in its name.

Only 827 bottles of Black Bowmore 1964 were produced, with 80 bottles finding their way to US Shores, making this an extremely rare and sought-after bottling. But thanks to Nicky The Neck, we have one, and are offering it for $7,500 for the bottle. If you want to add a truly exceptional and extremely rare whisky to your collection, buy it now!.

Next, a whiskey that was lost for a long time…found…then gone again. And now, it’s back!

In 2006 a team from the New Zealand Antarctic Heritage Trust (NZAHT) was restoring the hut used by Ernest Shackleton during his 1907-1909 South Pole expedition, when they discovered several cases of Ernie’s hooch lodged in ice under the hut.

Three of these cases were found to contain Mackinlay’s Rare Old Highland Malt Whisky. So Whyte & Mackay, who now own the Mackinlay’s brand, launched a bid to recover the whisky for samples to test, and potentially use to relaunch the once popular Mackinlay’s Scotch whisky brand.

In 2010 the NZAHT used special cutting tools to carefully remove the cases of spirits from the ice, and in January 2011 three bottles of the Mackinlay’s “Shackelton” whisky were returned to Whyte & Mackay where master blender Richard Paterson spent eight painstaking weeks marrying and blending a range of malts to get an exact replica of this 100 year old rare taste of whisky history.

The replica Mackinlay’s “Shackleton” Rare Old Highland Malt is a blended malt containing whisky from a range of Highland malts, including Glen Mhor, which was the original Mackinlay’s distillery before it closed in 1983. It was bottled at 47.3% ABV, is non chill-filtered and has had no added caramel coloring. And it comes in the coolest replica bottle and wooden box.

Whyte & Mackay then the released exactly 50,000 bottles of the whiskey worldwide. We offered this whisky in the past, and it sold out in a matter of hours. But fortunately for us our man Nicky The Neck spent his Thanksgiving fishing in the Antarctic, and came home with more than our fair share of this magnificent and rare whisky.

And so we’re able to offer you the opportunity to acquire a bottle of Mackinlay’s “Shackleton” Rare Old Highland Malt Whisky for $159.95/ bottle (limit 3 bottles per customer please).

Finally, if you are looking for a way to bring your whiskey to work, checkout Wondermade Gourmet Bourbon Marshmallows, made with Maker’s Mark Bourbon. These mallows are an incredibly delicious indulgence with hot coco, or eaten “neat”, and make great stocking stuffers for the WhiskeyLovers in your life.

Until next week…I wish you high spirits!
