Highland Park Valkyrie

The first in a new series of Viking Legend releases from the Orkney distillery, this Highland Park single malt is matured in a combination of first-fill American oak sherry, Bourbon and Spanish oak sherry casks as well as a selection of refill casks. Presented in packaging created by Danish designer Jim Lyngvild, with inspiration drawn from the ancient Hammer Stone of Gotland and a Viking pendant from Upland, Sweden.

An intense, sharp tang of sweet green apples opens the nose before ripening lemon notes. The creamy vanilla palate brings oriental spices, sweet preserved ginger, dark chocolate and hints of liquorice. The long, lingering finish has waves of aromatic smoke and richly ripened fruit.

Macallan Masters of Photography: Steven Klein Edition

The 6th edition in the series, this Speyside single malt celebrates the work of Steven Klein in a limited edition of only 1,000 bottles. An awe-inspiring whisky, each component of Klein’s art is reflected in the master whisky maker’s vision, creating a very specific and unusual whisky that mirrors the art itself.

Presented in a black leather case with a signed Steven Klein print, a distinctive black horse’s head bottle stopper and a range of glassware including a dropper, an aroma still, an infuser, a cocktail class, a highball glass and a tumbler, all designed by Klein.

According to Charlie MacLean, “The whisky itself is superb! Bob Dalgarno, Macallan’s ‘Master Whisky Maker’ has excelled himself. My first – and probably, only! – 9 out of 10 this year… 10/10 is available only in Heaven!”

Edradour 14 Year Old 2002 vintage Highland single malt Scotch whisky. Single sherry cask #1422 bottled in a Ibisco decanter on 24th March 2017. 697 bottles.  Edradour Distillery was formed in 1825 by a group of eight local farmers. Situated at Milton of Edradour near Pitlochry and still just a farm sized distillery equipped with a Morton refrigerator to cool the worts and two wee stills with their spirit cooled in a single worm tub. Whilst ranked amongst the small working distilleries in Scotland its owners Signatory Vintage have plans to increase its size and output. Official distillery releases include the Edradour 10 Year Old, Barolo Cask and Sherry Cask Ibisco decanters.

Join us for a sneak preview of the newest iteration of Bulleit Bourbon, the cask strength edition with brand founder Tom Bulleit himself. Benromach 1975 – 41 Year Old

A stunning single malt Scotch whisky from Benromach distillery, distilled in 1975 and matured in cask for an incredible 41 years. A mere 162 bottles were filled at cask strength, 49.9% from single cask #3434. As with previous vintage releases from Benromach, this 1975 bottling has been beautifully presented in a unique bottle decanter, wooden presentation box and comes complete with history book outlining the distilleries past.

It might be wine, virgin oak, refill or something else entirely, but if we decide to give it a green label, rest assured you’re getting something really special and rare. Each barrel is unique, producing only a few hundred bottles of exceptional quality. So, each time another bottle of Sullivans Cove Special Cask is opened, a new page in our story is turned. Enjoy.

Our first ever release of Special Cask (Barrel TD0202) comes from a 300 litre French Oak barrel previously used to mature Australian Chardonnay. There are only a few hundred bottles of this rare single cask single malt and our Special Cask malts will only ever be very occasionally released. As members you have exclusive access to be part of the distillery’s history and purchase a bottle of this never to be repeated malt for 24 hours prior to it going on general release.

When we tasted this cask it was like hitting the jackpot.

Loch Lomond 2001 The Whisky Shop Exclusive

An exclusive single cask specially selected and bottled exclusively for The Whisky Shop by Loch Lomond distillery. This Highland Single Malt was distilled in February 2001 and spent 16 years maturing in cask no. 16/329-2 before bottling in April 2017. Presented non chill-filtered at a cask strength of 56.5% abv, only 384 bottles have been produced.

Charles MacLean says: “Pale amber in colour; a slight nose prickle and dry aroma overall. The top note is fragrant – freshly laundered linen, shampoo – on a base of green apples and white grapes. A smooth texture and a sweet taste, with light acidity, a suggestion of brown bread and spice in the long, warming finish.“

Inspired by the story of explorer, Ernest Shackleton, this brand new blended malt Scotch whisky from Master Blender, Richard Patterson, recreates the Mackinlay’s Rare Old Highland Malt Whisky that Shackleton took on his 1907 expedition to the South Pole.

With the last bottles discovered under the ice in 2007, Paterson sought to produce his own interpretation of the taste in this blend launching exclusively with The Whisky Shop.

Combining the best Highland malt whiskies and allowing them to marry over a long period, Paterson has created an enigmatic blended malt with a dash of body and a whisper of smoke.

With complex notes of vanilla, honey and orchard fruits, the whisky has real warmth and depth, much like Shackleton himself.

Shackleton The Journey

The second edition in the Shackleton project from Whyte & Mackay, The Journey is a rare and unique blended malt Scotch.

Following the discovery of 3 cases of Mackinlay’s Rare Old Highland Malt Whisky left under the ice in Antarctica by Sir Ernest Shackleton’s expedition to the South Pole some 100 years earlier, Master Blender Richard Paterson spent weeks in the laboratory nosing, tasting and deconstructing the whisky. This recreation comprises a wide selection of highland malts, including very old Glen Mhor which was the Mackinlay distillery before its closure in 1983.

Bottled at a strength of 47.3% abv, this blended malt has a light honey colour with shimmering straw highlights. The nose is elegant with delicate notes of crushed apple, pear and pineapple, with oak shavings, smoke and hints of buttery vanilla, caramel and nutmeg. The palate has a tantalising array of flavours, revealing a spirit with plenty of impact.
