Auchentoshan “Bartender’s Malt – Edition 1” Single Malt at K&L California – Scotch Whisky News

KL 1334900x

Auchentoshan “Bartender’s Malt – Edition 1” Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml) ($44.95)

Auchentoshan named this whisky the “Bartender’s Malt” because it was designed and blended by a team of twelve different bartenders from all over the world who helped to select the barrels. Here’s the really compelling part: they used single malt whisky from the 1970s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, and current decade in the blend, from ex-Bourbon, ex-Sherry, ex-wine, and even German oak barrels! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: innovative blends like this are what’s going to drive the business moving forward, in my opinion, especially in a market where single barrel pricing is proving to be cost prohibitive and access is getting more and more difficult. For a very affordable price, this is a drinker’s whisky. It is absolutely jam-packed with sweet barley flavor, loads of vanilla, spicy ginger, candied orange peel, and a symphony of oak and baking spices on the finish that light up your mouth for minutes with distinct and supple flavors of milk chocolate. Bottled at 47% ABV, it’s got punch as well. This is my new house single malt. I suspect it’s going to stay that way for some time. My highest recommendation here for a sub-$50 malt. Bravo! (David Driscoll, K&L Buyer)

This collaboration of many minds and mouths should appeal to many people. It is soft and round and very easy to drink. On the light side there is a a touch of dried fruit flavors in the mid palate. Alone or on the rocks this will make a delicious drink for when one does not want to analyse and think about it, but wants to just enjoy.

Andrew Stevens | K&L Staff Member | Review Date: May 15, 2018

There was a time when certain things were simply not done. One would never mix a fine single malt into something so crass as a cocktail. I come from a bar background and will happily mix up great spirits into great cocktails. Fortunately for me, that rigid way of thinking is becoming more flexible and certain distilleries are embracing this trend. Auchentoshen is a perfect example, a blend of selected casks from different bartenders the whisky itself is beautiful. Soft, clean, supple, with beautiful vanilla, citrus, peaches, and white chocolate plus the texture that triple distilled Auchentoshan brings this is a delightful whisky all by itself. However, this is also a blend created by bartenders and for the bar. It is priced perfectly to allow someone to get creative, or go for a classic scotch and soda. If you are feeling daring maybe do what I am planning on doing this summer and mixing it with lemon juice, ginger syrup and floating a mellow IPA on top for a fantastic shandy.

Wyoming Whiskey Introduces Steamboat Special Edition Whiskey – American Whiskey News

Wyoming Whiskey Introduces Steamboat Special Edition

Wyoming Whiskey Introduces Steamboat Special Edition Whiskey

A lighter, sweeter offering inspired by the Cowboy State

KIRBY, WY (June 13, 2018)— Wyoming Whiskey announces the release of its Steamboat Special Edition Straight Bourbon Whiskey with one thousand cases of  Steamboat to be distributed exclusively in Wyoming beginning Friday, June 22nd.

A 750ml bottle of Steamboat with custom labeling will retail for $45 in a limited edition canister featuring the historic image of Steamboat from the Wyoming State Archives. Steamboat is smooth, easy-drinking, and slightly lighter than Wyoming Whiskey’s Small Batch bourbon with a red berry note complementing its customary vanilla and caramel flavor profile.  It is bottled at 90 proof.

The label of this bottle pays tribute to Chugwater, the birthplace of Steamboat, with an image of the Chugwater Cliffs.

Like all WW products, Steamboat is 100% locally-sourced and was named after the Cowboy State’s iconic symbol which is represented on the Wyoming license plate.  Steamboat was the name of an “unrideable” horse ridden by Clayton Danks in the Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeo in 1909.  While some controversy surrounds the identity of the rider, the duo is believed to be the bronc and rider that inspired Wyoming’s revered logo.

“Steamboat Special Edition Straight Bourbon Whiskey may be found at Wyoming liquor stores throughout the state,” said co-founder David DeFazio, “And, unlike the horse, this whiskey doesn’t buck.”

We’d like to introduce you to the core Penderyn Expression – Madeira!

Impex1

‘A creaseless experience, a gentle massaging of the taste buds… The light cocoa infusion just tops this off perfectly. A truly classic Penderyn; more charm than Tom Jones, hitting just as many pure notes… and just a fraction of his age.’ ~ Dr. Jim Swan

The Madeira expression joins the current lineup of Penderyn – Dragon Series:

Impex2

While the rest of the world has these expressions at 41%, the U.S. has these expressions at 43%.

Penderyn whisky is distilled from a high quality malted barley wash which we produce on site. The new whisky spirit is produced from this barley wash on a specially commissioned unique whisky still, designed by a team led by engineer Dr David Faraday, a relative of the great Victorian scientist, Michael Faraday.

Most casks come from Buffalo Trace, widely recognized as one of the finest bourbons in the world and respected for using some of the best casks in the industry. Evan Williams’ casks are also used, which are of outstanding quality and bring great provenance as Williams (a Welshman) was one of the founders of the American Bourbon industry.

Thanks again for being part of our family and enjoying these fine whiskies with us!

We’ll be in touch about other exciting news as the year drinks on …

Please feel free to reach out for more details on the bottlings: office@impexbev.com
