“The ImpEx Collection” 28 & 40 Year Olds at K&L California – Scotch Whisky News

We have a pair of Scotch whiskies that provide mind boggling value for money. The ImpEx Collection is a bottler with deep ties within the world of Scotch and, as such, they have access to rare single casks that fly under the radar. Cameronbridge, known as a workhorse brand for blending, also possesses masterful examples of aged whisky, such as this 28 year old—a proposition that rings in at a sub-$200 price. Even more rare is the 40 Year Old Single Sherry Butt #34. It’s almost impossible to find whisky of that age statement regardless of the price, but the fact that we can offer this bottling for $329.99 almost defies belief.

Outer quote mark Bales of aged tobacco, damp autumnal leaves, aromatic backyard bonfire smoke, barrel staves soaked in aged sherry, dried fig, prune flesh, milk chocolate, and polished antique wood grab the attention of the olfactory system. Deep wells of concentrated dark fruits give this a studied intensity, with chocolate-hazelnut ganache, date, plum, and a dry finish reminiscent of barrel char and oak tannins. Majestic, one might say. (JM, Summer 2021) Inner quote mark

Having out-grown his distillery at Upper Drumin George Smith built a new distillery in 1858 at Minore just short distance upstream of the River Livet and which he opened the following year and named Glenlivet Distillery. During the 1850s the Edinburgh firm of Andrew Usher produced the first vatting of malt whisky from a single distillery using a number of different vintages of Glenlivet whisky. Following expansion in 2010 this distillery is now equipped with fourteen stills making it one of the largest malt whisky distilleries in Scotland. The range includes Glenlivet Founders Reserve and Nadurra.

Spirit Of Art – Single Malt and Beautiful Original Art Print at Hard To Find Whisky – Scotch Whisky News

Each Spirit of Art release is from a single carefully selected cask of Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

Each cask is celebrated by the commissioning of an original artwork from an established Scottish artist.

The bottling is accompanied by a print from the original painting printed on museum grade acid free paper, individually numbered and signed by the artist to match the number of bottles drawn from the cask, then safely secured in the tube to partner the Whisky.

Every bottle, every painting, and every signed print are unique, providing an emotional connection to the place where these exceptional whiskies were crafted.

Bimber Distillery reveals 2021 Country Collection – English Whisky News

Bimber Distillery reveals 2021 Country Collection

2021 Country Collection consists of twenty-four cask strength single cask London single malt whiskies

Eight new countries added to the growing Country Collection roster

London’s Bimber Distillery today announced the release of its 2021 Country Collection of single cask, single malt whiskies. Following the well-received 2020 Collection which sold out worldwide, new editions have been exclusively bottled for Australia, Belgium, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Taiwan and the USA.

2021 sees eight new locations added to the Country Collection roster with Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, Israel, Japan, Nigeria, South Africa and Switzerland all receiving their first exclusive Bimber releases.

Each exceptional cask was selected to showcase Bimber’s award-winning single malt spirit with the unique personalities derived from a variety of different cask types including: ex-bourbon; Pedro Ximenez finished ex-bourbon; madeira finished ex-bourbon; ruby port and ex-rye whiskey casks.

Bimber’s 2021 Country Collection continues the worldwide expansion of the London-based distillery and recognises the flourishing demand for the craft producer’s single malt whiskies. Fourteen expressions will be released over the summer with the remaining ten releases following later in the year.

Each of the Country Collection Editions were crafted to Bimber’s exacting standards. The spirit was produced from the distillery’s single farm barley and malted on a dedicated floor at Warminster Maltings before being fermented for seven days in bespoke, on-site constructed American oak washbacks. Distillation took place in Bimber’s customised stills, which possess an increased copper surface area, resulting in a light and fruity, but layered new make spirit.

Speaking of the upcoming release of the 2021 Collection, Bimber Distillery spokesperson Matt McKay said: “Each expression within our 2021 Country Collection celebrates the individuality of our growing selection of cask styles. Our exploration of the flavour possibilities of cask experimentation reflects how our traditional processes can be employed to produce impactful and delightfully flavourful results from a wide variety of wood types. As the distillery grows, we are excited to be able to share these exceptional single cask releases with an ever-widening number of worldwide Bimber drinkers.”

Announcing Decadent Drinks Ltd the home of Whisky Sponge – Scotch Whisky News

Announcing Decadent Drinks Ltd the home of Whisky Sponge

Decadent Drinks is the result of an experiment with independent bottling that got out of hand. What started as a collaborative side project between Iain McClune and Angus MacRaild, quickly grew arms and legs and has now become a terrifyingly real and busy company.

We attempt to source and bottle natural, charismatic, crazy but always excellent Whiskies.  We aim to have new bottles coming out every month!

We have a few whiskies available for you at the moment including:

Equinox and Solstice Edition No.2

This edition is for the 2021 summer solstice and contains a 10 year old Highland Single Malt that we have named ‘Candlekitty’ – we’re confident you can work out what we mean by that.

It is composed from an assemblage of three consecutive first fill bourbon barrels, all filled in 2010 and bottled at this series’s set bottling strength of 48.5%.

The whisky has bags of the classical waxy distillery character while also displaying bright fruit tones, natural sweetness and subtle coastal freshness as well. It’s the perfect summer sipper and would also be superb in a highball.

Caol Ila 9 Year Old Whisky Sponge Edition No.32

We return once again to the malt whisky enthusiast’s comfort blanket that is Caol Ila. For this edition we took a refill hogshead from 2007 and a rejuvenated (de-char – re-char) hogshead from 2011 and smooshed them together. The natural strength was surprisingly low so we left it where it was at 53.6%. The result is a 9 year old that is rich, oily, complex and hugely satisfying.

We suggest you enjoy it in a sun lounger in the rain, wearing nothing but a pair of salmon-hide slippers to protect you from the midgies while thumbing an old 1st edition copy of Alfred Barnard’s legendary magnum opus from 1887 : Whisky Investment Companies Of The United Kingdom.

Secret Speyside 1990 Whisky Sponge Edition No.29

This very special bottling commemorates that time the Earth was accidentally destroyed by a reversing hyper-galactic Salmon stillhouse because Jan Birch was distracted by the amusing properties of zero-gravity dramming.

The whisky inside this bottle hails from an unspeakable and mysterious distillery in the town of Rothes. Known locally only as ‘the second least amusing of our distilleries – several of which are in fact quite dull so potentially not that amusing at all’.

This bottling is the result of a cosmic collision of two refill hogsheads. Bottled with slight reduction to our commonly enjoyed ‘seshing ABV’ of 48.5%.

Please enjoy it responsibly and do not attempt to adjust the fabric of space time or operate a microplane while under the influence.

You can sign up to hear about our new releases by registering your interest at www.decadent-drinks.com.

All of our whiskies are available directly from our website at www.decadent-drinks.com and we ship globally, including to the USA.
