Teeling Blackpitts Peated Single Malt Irish Whiskey was named “Whiskey of the Year”

The Teeling Whiskey Company is proud to announce its latest accomplishment – Teeling Blackpitts Peated Single Malt Irish Whiskey was named “Whiskey of the Year” at the inaugural New Orleans Spirits Competition, presented by Tales of the Cocktail.

The New Orleans Spirits Competition (NOSC) is an international spirits competition bringing wider recognition to fine spirits among top-flight bartenders worldwide, NOSC was founded in 2022, to recognize and celebrate the most distinguished spirits being produced around the world today. Held this year during Tales of the Cocktail’s 20-year anniversary, the inaugural competition was open to all classes of spirits, domestic and international — whiskey, gin, brandy, baijiu, vodka, rum, agave spirits, liqueurs – as well as the emerging class of non-alcoholic spirits. More than 500 entrants sent samples for evaluation.

Blackpitts is a triple-distilled peated Irish single malt, the first-of-its-kind entirely distilled and bottled in Dublin. Blackpitts takes its name from the famous Dublin neighborhood, honoring the heritage and legacy of the Teeling Whiskey Company. Matured in both first-fill Bourbon barrels and Sauternes casks, Blackpitts carries notes of savory BBQ smoke accompanied by grilled pineapple and salted caramel sweetness.

Teeling Whiskey is the world’s most awarded Irish Whiskey, proud to have received nearly 375+ international awards, including World’s Best Single Malt at the 2019 World Whiskies Awards for the 24-Year-Old – the first Irish Whiskey to receive this accolade. Released in 2021, recent wins and industry recognition for Blackpitts include: World’s Best Irish Single Malt, No Age Statement at the 2021 World Whiskies Awards, Top 20 Spirits of 2021 by Whisky Advocate Magazine, and Double Gold at the 2022 SFWSC

GLENFIDDICH TASTING at MILROYS of SOHO August 15th, 2022 – Scotch Whisky News

GLENFIDDICH TASTING

The story around the  building of Glenfiddich has the air of a Victorian fairy tale.

It was in 1886 that William Grant of Dufftown decided to leave his position as manager of Mortlach and start up on his own. He had saved assiduously and, fortuitously, was starting his project just as Elizabeth Cumming was revamping Cardhu and replacing her old small stills. Along with his wife and nine children, William built his distillery near to the Fiddich river by hand.

The first new make trickled from the stills Christmas Day, 1887.

Around the mid to late 1800’s more distilleries were founded in the area but not all managed to succeeded in the way Glenfiddich did and indeed still does, with a mass influx of brokers offering to bankroll the boom it’s no surprise so many failed, it was the determination and tenacity of William with his passion for whisky above all else that made the distillery thrive.

Whenever we try a glass of Glenfiddich we are drinking a piece of history.

Today, Glenfiddich remains the world’s best-selling single malt with sales more than a million cases a year.

The range has expanded to cover more ages and cask styles than ever before with incredible tastes from each vintage and style.

Alex Walker the Brand Ambassador for the Glenfiddich distillery will be taking us through the line-up below:

BOWMORE TASTING – August 8th, 2022 at Milroys of SOHO – Islay Whisky News

BOWMORE TASTING

Bowmore it is smoke, reminiscent of beach bonfires, mingles with a distinctly saline note, flowers, cereal, citrus and underneath a touch of tropical fruit. It is this character which, when matured in refill casks for a long period of time, becomes the primary aroma, the peat seemingly disappearing completely.

A significant percentage of the make is aged in ex-Sherry butts which take Bowmore off in another direction – one of dark fruits, chocolate, coffee, citrus and smoke.

The extensive range picks and chooses between these extremes.  A significant percentage of the distillery’s whisky is matured on the island, with the distillery’s No.1 Vaults being have the most extraordinary microclimate, with the sea and temperature influencing the whiskies that are stored in the Vault, This chill, damp environment of the vault lies below sea and Loch Indaal, one wall makes up the town’s sea wall – is seen as ideal for long-term maturation.

The brand Ambassador David Miles will be taking us through the line-up below:
