Virtual Tastings – December 2020
After a couple of month away, The Whisky Exchange’s Virtual Tastings are back! Join us for a fantastic pair of December tastings with our friends at Diageo – proper festive treats.
Well, we weren’t really ‘away’ as such. We ran the world’s biggest online whisky festival – Virtual Whisky Show – with more than 400 talks across eight days streamed to more than 1000 visitors from more than 50 countries…
We’re easing ourselves back into our regular Virtual Tastings with help from a long-time friend – irrepressible Diageo brand ambassador Colin “Ain’t no foolin’” Dunn. He’ll be joined by a couple of his colleagues and our head buyer Dawn Davies to taste through two great line-ups of whisky.
Wednesday 2 December 2020, 7pm GMT – Diageo Special Releases 2020 Virtual Tasting: The annual special releases tasting with Colin is a highlight of our tasting year so we’re very pleased to be able to keep it in the calendar by moving it online. Dawn will be joined by Colin and his podcast buddy, ambassador TJ Littlejohn, to taste through all eight of this year’s Diageo Special Releases – Cardhu 11 Year Old, Dalwhinnie 30 Year Old, Cragganmore 20 Year Old, Pittyvaich 30 Year Old, Singleton of Dufftown 17 Year Old, Talisker 8 Year Old, Lagavulin 12 Year Old and Mortlach 21 Year Old.

Wednesday 9 December 2020, 7pm GMT – Talisker Virtual Tasting: Talisker ambassador Jason Clark will be joining Dawn and Colin to pull apart the distillery’s range, from 10 Year Old to 25 Year Old, with a few stops on the way with old friends and some treats you might not have tasted – Talisker 10 Year Old, Talisker Port Ruighe Port Finish, Talisker 18 Year Old, Talisker 25 Year Old, Talisker 2007 Distillers Edition and Talisker 8 Year Old from the Diageo Special Releases 2020.

These are our final virtual tastings for 2020, but we’ll be back in the new year with more. We may not be able to get together in person to share a drink or two just yet, but we’ll be online with tasty things until that day comes around.

1792 BOURBONS WIN TWO DOUBLE GOLD MEDALS
AT 2020 INTERNATIONAL SPIRITS CHALLENGE
Five 1792 Bourbons Receive Medals
BARDSTOWN, Ky (Nov. 18, 2020) – Two Barton 1792 bourbons received the prestigious Double Gold medal at the 2020 International Spirits Challenge. Distillery bourbons also received two Gold medals and a Silver medal.
1792 Bottled in Bond and 1792 Aged 12 Years each received the Double Gold medals. 1792 Single Barrel and 1792 Full Proof received Gold medals. 1792 Small Batch received a Silver medal.
All spirits entered into the ISC are subjected to intense blind tastings conducted by panels of more than 50 respected and experienced industry professionals. Each judge assesses the products according to age, region and variety, which is determined by the entrant and verified by the chairman.

This Sunday we’ll be hosting our third virtual tasting and our Founder John Glaser will be broadcasting live from his kitchen table at home in London. John started the company in 2000 at his kitchen table so it seems a fitting place to continue our 20th anniversary celebrations. John will be joined virtually by James Saxon, the lead whiskymaker for Peat Monster Arcana, along with our special guest, author and freelance writer Amanda Schuster. Together they will explore the story behind our latest limited edition – an experiment into oak and smoke.

We will be tasting our latest limited edition Peat Monster Arcana, and comparing it to our year-round member of the Malt Whisky Collection, The Peat Monster.
