The new Isle of Harris Single Malt Whisky now sits proudly alongside The Hearach and our Oloroso cask-matured drams in our family of island-made spirits. It brings together a different balance of sherry and bourbon-matured spirit, with Oloroso sherry casks more to the fore. The whiskies used in the recipe are also slightly older, at around seven to eight years of age.

Expect rich notes of butterscotch, cherry, caramel and gentle spice, balanced by our signature dry, flinty character and a subtle hint of peat smoke. Non-chill filtered and with no artificial colouring, this is a dram designed to be poured, shared and enjoyed rather than simply kept and collected.

Scottish oak presents particular challenges for whisky maturation due to its porous character, encouraging greater interaction between the spirit and the wood. For this limited edition, Glengoyne’s 17-year-old whisky receives its final stage of maturation in virgin Scottish oak casks, with each cask assessed individually and the finishing period carefully tailored.

The virgin Scottish oak is sustainably sourced from woodland surrounding Killearn, just a few miles from Glengoyne Distillery. The finish brings greater structure, warming spice and subtle oak character while retaining Glengoyne’s naturally fruity style, with notes of heather honey, orchard fruit, toasted oak and vanilla leading to a long, gently spiced finish.

Part of the Oak Masters’ Series, this release explores the influence of rare native Scottish oak while connecting the whisky closely to the landscape surrounding the distillery. The packaging illustration takes inspiration from the Scottish Colourists and the Scottish landscape from which the oak was sourced.

Nose Heather honey and lime open into stewed pear, raspberries and almond, complemented by layers of tropical fruit.

Palate Toasted oak and fresh fruit are joined by oat and raisin cookies, smooth vanilla, warming ginger and a hint of nutmeg.

Any lover of Single Malt Scotches is undoubtedly familiar with The Macallan, a Speyside stalwart that has been wielding its craft for over two centuries. Founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and school teacher, it was one of the first legally licensed distillers in Scotland and since then, has built an unassailable reputation for the consistently outstanding quality and distinctive character of their products which they define as “Mastery of Wood and Spirit”.

Among the key points of distinction in their operations is their use of “curiously small stills”, among the smallest in the region, which give their new make spirit maximum contact with the copper which, in turn, serves to concentrate it and provide the rich, fruity, full-bodied flavors characteristic of their offerings. They also maintain a long-standing tradition of maturing whisky in oak casks which are seasoned with sherry wine in Jerez De La Frontera, Spain. Those proprietary casks themselves are exceptional in that it takes over five years of craftmanship to create them.

Over generations and decades, the Macallan has built a portfolio of Classic Offerings and Limited Releases that their loyal fan base enthusiastically embrace, even with what can be lofty pricing. Rare Find, the award-winning Edinburgh-based independent bottler, announces the launch of its latest Collection of single cask whiskies, bringing together four exceptional expressions from distilleries renowned for their rich, full-bodied spirit styles.

The Rare Find Autumn 2026 Collection explores the relationship between spirit weight, texture and cask influence – showcasing how carefully chosen maturation can enhance the qualities that make each distillery distinctive. Some spirits are defined by lightness and elegance. Others are celebrated for their depth, texture and presence. This collection brings together four whiskies where weight is central to their identity: the waxy complexity of Clynelish, the muscular fruit character of Mortlach, the oily robustness of Ben Nevis and the unmistakable coastal power of Laphroaig.

The Rare Find team has used carefully considered cask maturation to enhance texture, amplify character and reveal new layers of complexity within each spirit. 1st fill oloroso sherry casks introduce richness, dried fruit and spice, strengthening the natural weight of these whiskies without overwhelming their individuality, whilst refill sherry maturation allows the underlying distillery character to remain firmly at the forefront.

The result is a collection that offers fresh perspectives on familiar distilleries – where every cask has been selected to elevate, not eclipse, the spirit within.

As with all Rare Find releases, each whisky is bottled without compromise – at natural cask strength, natural colour and without chill filtration.
