International Whisky Day! TODAY!!
March 27th, 2013
Today’s the day! It’s the 27th of March and that means only one thing to whisky lovers around the world. It’s International Whisky Day!
For those that don’t know already, International Whisky Day is a global celebration of whisky originally set up to honour the late Michael Jackson: “On this date let every whisk(e)y lover annually raise a dram – wherever in the world he or she may be – to honour the many unsung heroes of the past and present, who have been crafting the King O’ Drinks for centuries and will hopefully continue to do so till the end of time.“
International Whisky Day is entirely non-profit and exists through volunteers and donations from those who believe in the cause. Everyone is encouraged to get involved and together we hope to raise a lot of money for Parkinson’s UK and other charities which help people suffering with the disease as Michael did.
There are many events and competitions already in place that you’re welcome to join in with today if you can. If not, simply raise a glass and spread the word to anyone you meet today.
Some things to get involved in:
A special Twitter based auction in honour of the whisky writer to raise money for research into Parkinsons Disease.
Submit a name for your own unique whisky blend and you might just win it in this prize draw.
For just £1 a ticket you have the chance to win whiskies, signed books, glassware etc.
Beer and Whisky Tasting night at the bar: 3 beers, 3 whiskies and an expert guide to both.
A good old get together in a well stocked bar with some special bottles for those who donate.
A whisky tasting, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Parkinson Association of SA.
Wullie has personally blended a bottle of whisky that can be won by one lucky dinner-guest.
Loch Ness Brewery will be pouring some delicious beer and one or two special drams too.
…and much MUCH more!
Whatever you do, have fun, drink responsibly, spare a thought (and some cash) for Parkinson’s charities, and make sure you share photos with Malt Maniacs.
