*UPCOMING RELEASE* Sullivans Cove Double Cask Whisky DC110 – Tasmanian Whisky News

Double Cask DC110 Single Malt Whisky

We are pleased to announce that our latest edition of Double Cask Tasmanian Single Malt Whisky will be released on Monday 5th of July, 2021.

Our Double Cask series offers our team the opportunity to draw on a breathtaking array of casks to create whiskies of great character and complexity. Double Cask batch DC110 is a marriage of selections from ten casks, including whisky from American and French oak casks which have previously been used to mature Tawny, Bourbon, white wine and red wine, with ages ranging from 7 to 20 years old.

DC110 is the first Double Cask release to be bottled at a variable alcohol by volume percentage (ABV%). This brings the Double Cask series into line with how we bottle our single cask releases and allows us to choose the ABV% that brings out the best in the whisky. For DC110, that was 46.9%.

“The higher ABV% has really brought out the deeper chocolately vibes so quintessentially Sullivans, while retaining the malt-fruit-brine fundamentals of the distillery. Great depth of aroma and a very enticing flavour profile.”

Heather Tillott, Head Distiller

Tasting Notes

Great body and rolling texture. Loads of biscuitty malt, a jammy wave (dark berries!) swirls with a herbal wave, like vine leaves. Incredibly fudgy, chocolate flavoured. Part way through there’s a change toward the fruit: peaches, mango, apricot, and then ruby grapefruit juice.

Full tasting notes and cask details can be found on the product page via this link.

These whiskies will be released via ballot.
The ballot will open for 24 hours from 11am Hobart time on Monday 5th of July, 2021. Further details will be sent prior to the ballot opening.

A note on our ballot system.
Our policy is one bottle, per person, per household. Our fraud detection algorithm detects multiple entries and removes them to ensure our whisky lands in the hands of our genuine supporters, so to ensure your entry counts, please enter once only. If you have any questions around our ballot process, you can email us at info@sullivanscove.com
Successful entries will be notified shortly after the ballot closes.

Luxco announces fifth-anniversary release of Remus Repeal Reserve for September 2021

Remus Repeal Reserve Series V offers a rare medley of five bourbons ranging

from 2005 to 2008 from its 174-year-old Lawrenceburg, Indiana, distillery

LAWRENCEBURG, IN (June 29, 2021) Luxco will debut Remus Repeal Reserve Series V Straight Bourbon Whiskey this September. A limited annual release, Series V is the fifth edition of the award-winning Remus Repeal Reserve Bourbon collection. Produced to commemorate the repeal of Prohibition in 1933, Series V showcases a medley of five bourbons ranging from 2005 to 2008, offering a rare taste of the finest cask bourbon selections available from one of the oldest distilleries in the country.

“Remus Repeal Reserve has been such an amazing journey for our distillery team, and we wanted to do something extraordinary for our fifth-year anniversary,” said Master Blender David Whitmer. “Series V exemplifies what our Remus Repeal collection stands for: to showcase the incredible range of medleys and aged reserves we work with in Lawrenceburg. Whether this is your first taste of our Remus Repeal collection or your fifth, Series V represents a particularly special opportunity for us to show you what great bourbon can be.”

Named after the legendary “King of the Bootleggers,” Remus Repeal Reserve is an annual series from George Remus® Bourbon, crafted by the expert distillers at MGP’s 174-year-old distillery in Lawrenceburg, IN. Made in a signature high-rye style, the medley changes each year, allowing the team to experiment with their various mash bills and aged reserves. Remus Repeal Reserve Series V is comprised of 9% 2005 Bourbon (21% Rye), 5% 2005 Bourbon (36% Rye), 19% 2006 Bourbon (21% Rye), 13% 2008 Bourbon (21% Rye) and 54% 2008 Bourbon (36% Rye). Made from outstanding reserves ranging from 2005 to 2008, Series V leads with dried fruit, rich caramel, maple syrup, roasted nuts and leather. The beginning includes rich toffee and vanilla, followed by chocolate, glazed nuts and oak. The finish offers candied fruit, caramel, baking spice and a lingering oaky rye spice.

Highly anticipated, previous releases of Remus Repeal Reserve have achieved some of the highest recognition in the bourbon category, including a Gold-Best in Class in the 2020 World of Whiskies Competition and 98 points from Tasting Panel Magazine for Remus Repeal Reserve Series IV.

Remus Repeal Reserve Series V retails for a suggested $89.99 per 750-ml bottle and will be available in limited quantities in September 2021 to coincide with National Bourbon Heritage Month. Series V is bottled at 100 proof/50% ABV.

Dallas Dhu 38 Year Old – 1981 | Cask 1162 | Private Collection at Abbey Whisky – Scotch Whisky News

Dallas Dhu 38 Year Old – 1981 | Cask 1162 | Private Collection

We’re incredibly blessed to have so many great distilleries in our wonderful country, many of these housing old & rare single malts. One such beauty is this well aged Dallas Dhu, matured for over 38 years in a single refill American hogshead.

Distilled in 1981 & bottled by Scotch whisky gurus, Gordon & MacPhail for their exclusive Private Collection range, only 184 bottles were filled from single cask #1162 at natural cask strength, 60.1% vol.

Dallas Dhu is considered a rarity as the distillery sadly closed its doors in 1983 therefore becoming one of the Lost Distilleries of Scotland.

GLENGLASSAUGH UNVEILS ULTIMATE COASTAL TREASURE WITH NEW 50 YEAR OLD – Scotch Whisky News

GLENGLASSAUGH UNVEILS ULTIMATE COASTAL TREASURE WITH NEW 50 YEAR OLD

The Highland hidden gem that is Glenglassaugh lay silent for over two decades before being reawakened in 2008. Since then, the small, coastal distillery has released a range of award-winning boutique whiskies and now celebrates the release of one of its oldest and rarest expressions.

Shaped by the influences of land and sea for over half a century, Glenglassaugh 50 Year Old has gently matured in the distillery’s coastal warehouses overlooking the rolling surf of Sandend Bay.

The rare expression, of which there are just 264 bottles available, has been bottled from a single Pedro Ximénez sherry cask from Andalucīa in Spain. After breathing in the elements of the North Sea air for over 50 years, the result is a luscious and rich Highland Single Malt with a flavour profile that boasts a symphony of exotic fruit on a gentle ocean breeze.

Selected by Master Blender, Rachel Barrie, who learned to surf as a child on the waves that break below the distillery, the Glenglassaugh 50 Year Old is an inimitable and complex exemplar of the distillery’s lush, coastal spirit.

Earlier this year, the expression was awarded the highest possible accolade of double gold at the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Each bottle is housed in a bespoke presentation box designed to display the bottle and the liquid’s rich tones.

Rachel Barrie, Master Blender at Glenglassaugh Distillery, said:

“A lot can happen in half a century, and this whisky has seen many important milestones whilst maturing in our warehouses. From the distillery being lost then revived 13 years ago to the release of its first core range celebrating its youthful spirit.

“Offering a deep and seductive sweetness, the 50 Year Old’s flavour profile ranges from caramelised pear to soft exotic cherries; almond and refined oak beautifully intertwine to present a symphony of tropical notes on a gentle ocean breeze with rolling waves of flavour, which intensify and evolve with each sip. It’s a privilege to unveil this premium bottling to whisky fans around the world at the beginning of a new chapter for Glenglassaugh celebrating both old and new.”

The Glenglassaugh 50 Year Old is of natural cask colour and bottled at 40.1% ABV. The initial release features 264 bottles that will be available across select international markets in Europe and Asia from June 2021.

About Glenglassaugh Distillery:

On the crescent beach of Sandend Bay stands Glenglassaugh Distillery, producing a luscious coastal malt, shaped by the rich abundance of land and sea, with rolling waves of flavour. A whisky whose essence is distilled from the visible and invisible influences of land, sea, air and spring water. Its heritage stretches back to 1875 when the distillery was founded by Colonel James Moir. It was on the banks of Glassaugh stream that the distillery was built, and its name ‘Glenglassaugh’ – meaning ‘valley of the grey-green place’ – has been taken from its beautiful surroundings. Despite being mothballed for over twenty years, the distillery has a history of elegant maturation, with award-winning old vintages dating back to the 1960s, and an award-winning range of boutique younger whiskies, released in the years following the distillery’s reopening in 2008. As this jewel of a coastal malt is discovered and enjoyed, it promises to become a cult, contemporary classic.

The Perfect Partner to the Glencairn Glass – Whisky Pipette News

The Perfect Partner to the Glencairn Glass

In June we will be launching the first ever Glencairn Pipette for whisky-lovers who want to add a splash of water to their dram. Over the years customers who enjoy a drop of water with their whisky have often told us that they would love a pipette to match their Glencairn Glass so they can carefully control the amount of water added to enhance the flavours and aromas found in their whisky.

Our handblown glass pipette is designed to be the ideal length for our Glencairn Glass and is weighted at the top with a beautiful, and rather cute, miniature Glencairn Glass. To find out all about it please click here
