Laphroaig 28 Year Old

Rare 1990 vintage single refill first fill bourbon barrel bottled 2018 by Hart Brothers for the legends Collection. Just 2018 bottles. Laphroaig 28 Year Old 1990 vintage Islay single malt Scotch whisky. Single American first fill bourbon barrel #3689 bottled May 2018 by Hart Brothers for the Legends Collection series. 218 numbered bottles. This expression has all the usual suspects. Medicinal, surgical gauze, smoked kipper, brine and new laid asphalt.

Laphroaig Distillery was established in 1815 on the rocky south coast of the Isle of Islay off the west coast of Scotland. This malt whisky distillery continues to malt barley using its traditional malting floors and malt kiln. In 1994 the distiiley was awarded the Royal Warrant. The core range is quite extensive and supplemented by limited releases including a 21 year old was issued in 2015 to celebrate 21 years of Friends of Laphroaig. Independent bottlings are also available from Signatory, Cooper’s Choice and Hunter Laing. Laphroaig distillery also participates in Feis Ile, the Islay Festival of Malt and Music.

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 400: Lagavulin 2003 & 2005 Distillers Editions head-to-head

Mark Dermul, Belgian whisky blogger, puts two consecutive Distillers Editions head-to-head. Lagavulin is sometimes described as the ‘Aristocrat of Islay’. This whisky is so popular that the distillery sometimes has to cope with stock shortages. It is, by the way, the Lagavulin Distillers Edition, of which Mark has tried the most expressions. Seven so far and today he will put the 8th and 9th head-to-head.

Bottled at a full cask strength of  57.8%, this whisky is for the true Shelter Point fans across Canada and around the globe.

10 Years is a long time. A lot has changed in the world since Shelter Point started whisky production in 2011, but what hasn’t changed is our commitment to craft, quality, and doing things the best way we know how. For the inaugural 10-Year-Old edition of Cask Strength Single Malt release, we decided to let our ex-bourbon American oak casks and the spirit do the talking, and present this limited-edition small batch for your enjoyment.

The nose features notes of creamy vanilla, milk chocolate, apricots and green apples, and a palate with notes of baking spices, dark chocolate and a savoury kiss of sea salt. The finish is slightly drying, with woody spices and candied ginger.

This much anticipated whisky is a limited run of less than 430 bottles and is guaranteed to sell out extremely quickly, so be sure to order yours online before it’s too late!

Our two great whisky stills are kept busy making the foundation of our first single malt.

We’ve yet to set a release date for this historic island dram but behind the scenes work is well underway to bring this special whisky to the world.

A key part of our plans is the appointment of two new blenders from within the team here in Tarbert, chosen for their top-of-the-class tastebuds, awesome olfactory skills, and a dedication to capturing the best of our island in a bottle.

Cameronbridge 37 Year Old

37 Year Old 1982 TWB Originals Cask #TWB1005

1982 vintage of the Lowland grain distillery for TWB Originals series. These are the last remaining bottles of this sweet and spicy single cask. Cameronbridge 37 Year Old 1982 vintage Lowland single grain Scotch whisky. Single cask refill barrel #TWB1005 bottled 2019 for The Whisky Barrel ORIGINALS series. 164 numbered bottles.

Nose: Roasted coconut caramel wafers, marshmallow, cinnamon sticks and vanilla pods. Taste: Coconut covered milk chocolate, marshmallows, vanilla ice cream, Super Crema coffee beans. Finish: Sweet vanilla, butteries and more roasted coconut.

Cameronbridge Distillery was established by John Edington 1813 on the banks of the River Leven at Windygates in Fife in Scotland’s Lowland whisky region. By 1817 the distillery had passed to Philp & Haig. Two Stein’s continuous stills were installed in 1830 and Coffey’s continuous stills were added by the mid1880s. Cameronbridge produced both grain and malt whiskies until 1929. A small proportion of Cameronbridge grain whisky is nurtured by Hunter Laing in quality casks to produce aged, single grain and single cask grain whisky in their Sovereign grain whisky range.
