The New Hibernian Whiskey Advisory “How can you invest in whiskey?” – Irish Whiskey News

How can you invest in whiskey?

To invest in whiskey is one of the latest options and attention gaining areas in the investment industry. There are two principles ways to invest in whiskey and today we are going to discuss them. The first one is to invest directly in bottles and the second option is to invest in whiskey. It can either be an old or new bottle and in that, the brand and distillery are extremely important. In the casks of whiskey, the distillery from which the whiskey comes is less important. A good return of around 10-15% can be made from whiskey casks from any distillery.

Let’s have a detailed view at both the options and get a better view on how to invest in whiskey –

  • Investing in bottles

Investing in the bottles requires a huge amount of capital in order to even make a minimum investment. In order to invest in bottles you need to buy them from auctions and releases by using your expertise and skills. Inspite of all the skills and expertise a high amount of return is not guaranteed when investing in bottles while making an investment in whiskey.

  • Investing in Whiskey Casks

Whiskey is considered a depreciating asset and thus, no amount of capital gains is payable on the sale. Casks give a different perspective to whiskey investment. These are a simple asset, held in bond and no duty is levied whilst it stays in bond. When it comes to investing in whiskey, the best way is to invest in a diverse portfolio. Casks can be bought at different stages during their process. They can be bought freshly filled to well-aged.

The casks become more expensive as they gain maturity and they are of less price on their early stage. The cask at a zero age is called a new fill cask and the liquid is called a new make spirit. It takes 3 years and a day for a new spirit to legally become whiskey. Casks can be bought at any age the buyer thinks it would be beneficial.

More of such guidance is available when you join New Hibernian Whiskey Advisory and decide to invest in whiskey. For more information, you can visit www.new-hibernian.com

About New Hiberian Whiskey

The New Hibernian Whiskey Advisory was founded in the midst of the renaissance of Ireland’s very own spirit, by a team of likeminded experts-come-Whiskey-aficionados from both the alcoholic beverage industry and the financial sector, bound to each other for a love of everything relating to the Emerald Isle herself as well as one of its most luxurious exports.

The founding partners’ combined expertise and knowledge across their respective fields, married with their desire to be an integral part of the re-emergence of Irish Whiskey, led them on a long and exciting journey across their ancestral home on a mission to locate, taste and source the finest examples of the new wave of the glorious island’s traditional beverage. From Wexford to Louth, from Louth to Donegal, from Donegal to Cork and then back to Wexford, they left no establishment untried in their quest to find their favourite Whiskies. Whether it was a carouse in Cavan, a tipple in Tipperary, a sip in Sligo or a Malt in Mayo, they “painstakingly” sampled, dram by dram, all that the Republic had to offer to find their preferred aromas and palates.

Along the way they met friends and family old and new, poets, historians, Whiskey experts, master distillers and everybody else in between. They sampled as much of the Spirit of Ireland as they possibly could, learning all there was about the history of Ireland, the tradition and the rebirth of Irish Whiskey and the thriving economy built around it.

This knowledge is now passed on to you through our expert advisors in an attempt to assist you in making the most out of your cask purchase and the potential returns on offer.

Our Model of Whiskey Cask Purchase

The Irish Whiskey cask purchase model is a way for private investors and institutions to enter into a market that was historically limited to the select few; Either those with direct links to distilleries or Ultra High Net Worth individuals with the financial prowess to buy their way into the market of their choice.

Our model allows investors to enter into the advanced purchase of casks of raw Whiskey from one of renowned partner distilleries at prices way below wholesale. This ensures future profits for the cask owners whilst also creating cash flow for the distillery. For full details on our pricing structure contact info@new-hibernian.com

New Arrivals and Back in Stock at K&L California – American Whiskey News

Westland “#6062” K&L Exclusive Single ex-Jack Daniels Maple Wood Barrel Cask Strength Single Malt Whisky (750ml) $109.99 View

This exceptional and usual barrel comes one of the country’s premier producers of America Single Malt. Few would argue that Westland isn’t one of the very best and this exciting cask is one of the oldest we’ve ever sold from this venerated Washington producer. They started with malted barley from Baird’s in the highlands of Scotland. This batch was peated to a hefty 55ppm before being shipped to Washington to be fermented with their proprietary Belgian saison yeast and distilled on their gorgeous copper pots. Filled into a new Coopers Select on June, 19th 2014, it aged a full 4 years before being transferred to a maple wood barrel that had previously held the famous Tennessee whisky from Lynchburg. After nearly 2.5 years more, the barrel was dumped and bottled exclusively for K&L without chillfilteration or coloring of any kind at a seamless 108.88 proof. The rich complexity of this cask cannot be overstated. The dense peat mingle perfectly with the multiple wood types offering both classic and new world flavors that will entice even the most smoke averse whisky drinker. Only 120 bottles made it out of the notoriously leaky maple wood barrel and we’re certain they won’t last long. The wonderful single barrel program is the perfect complement to the newly release and perfectly executed Flagship product that so much value and consistency as to literally define the category. All should continue to take note of what this fabulous distillery is doing in the heart of Seattle.

Bardstown Bourbon Company “Discovery Series #6” Blended Straight Bourbon Whiskey (750ml) $135.00 View

The exceptional Discovery series from Bardstown Bourbon Company have consistently been some of the highest quality releases each year. This fabulous new gleaming distillery isn’t shying away from the details when it releases these sourced products and they spend an inordinate amount of time and energy making sure these small batches deliver an incredible drinking from the first nosing to the final sip. This batch is a meticulous marriage of whiskies from three states. The primary component, 68% of the blend, is an 11 year old Kentucky Bourbon with a classic 75% corn, 13% rye mashbill. This is presumed to be distilled at Barton Distillery just miles from the Bardstown Distillery, but the distillery has never confirmed that fact. The rest of the blend is made up of equal parts of Tennessee 17 year old at 8% rye and an Indiana 7 Year old at 21% rye. These are pretty obvious considering no other distillery in either state sells to others parties, so we assume Cascade Hollow and MGPi for these components respectively. Despite the very distinctive profiles of each distillery, neither dominates in the blend and the resulting bourbon is a perfect balance of the rich dusty old Tennessee Bourbon, deep fruit forward Kentucky and the zesty youthful Indiana. Ultimatley, very few products in this price point or any other offer such a high quality drinking experience and with no allocation, you’re free for once to load up the bunker.

A busy few months at Glenfarclas – Scotch Whisky News

Glenfarclas Donates to Moray Food Plus

Whilst this has been an unusual year for everyone, we are thrilled to be back welcoming visitors to our distillery with both tours and tastings. It has been great to have our distillery visits back up and running where we have been able to welcome visitors from all around the world. In accordance with government guidelines, we have enjoyed running our full tours.

The Glenfarclas team have continued their fundraising efforts for Moray Food Plus over the past six months with tour charges being replaced by donation requests following the reintroduction of distillery visits. It is safe to say that we could not have predicted the overwhelming response, support and generosity from our visitors. Distillery Manager Callum Fraser hosted a special manager’s tour for his birthday (which happened to be during the whisky festival) and all proceeds of this special tour went to Moray Food Plus as part of the donations. We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who visited for their contributions and we are very excited to announce that the grand total raised was an amazing £16,580.94. The cheque was presented to Mairi McCallum from Moray Food Plus by our Visitor Centre Manager Matthew Porritt on Wednesday 8th December. Overseeing the handover was Major General Seymour Monro (Lord-Lieutenant of Moray) and Patricia Seligman (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Banffshire). Proudly photographed at the cheque handover are Suzanne, Kirstin, Steve and Lauren who were all involved alongside Donna (not photographed) in persuading visitors to part with their cash for such a good cause. Despite the Covid-19 restrictions the Visitor Centre has had a fantastic season and we are looking forward to welcoming back guests to Glenfarclas in the New Year.

Since our reopening announcement we have had a very busy second half of the year and have been thrilled to be able to host and attend a number of events. In August we had an unexpected visit from some very special guests who were raising money for Police Care UK and The Fire Fighters Charity by walking over 600 miles from Gloucestershire to Elgin. The Glenfarclas team had a lot of fun welcoming William, Millie and Boo Boo and even got the chance to feed them some of our very own draff.

As per tradition Glenfarclas Distillery put forward its team for the Dramathon who ended up winning the We Dram relay. On behalf of Glenfarclas we would like to say a massive well done to both our team and those who participated in this annual event.

November was a very exciting month for us with the return of the rescheduled in-person Speyside Whisky Festival. As well as welcoming visitors to the distillery and attending tastings we were very excited to find out that we won overall best whisky at the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Awards from 2020 which was accepted by Callum at a launch event in October.

On the topic of awards, we are also thrilled to be able to announce that we also took away a bronze award from the Fields of Whisky Challenge which was accepted on behalf of Glenfarclas by our very own Deborah Stewart.

December has been a busy end to the year for us with our specially designed 1965 decanter and crystal tumblers which are housed in a beautiful rose wood box going to the Distillers One of One Auction. The auction was in aid of disadvantaged young people in Scotland and is led by The Worshipful Company of Distillers. This unique, one of kind whisky and decanter exceeded expectations and raised a total of £17,000.

We are also very excited to announce that our Chairman John Grant has been inducted into the Whisky Magazine’s Hall of Fame. This very prestigious honour was accepted by John himself at the award ceremony held in Edinburgh at the Balmoral Hotel. Please join us in congratulating him on his success.

As the year draws to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Mark, Scott and Niall, who are the three new faces that have joined the Glenfarclas team and will be involved in the production of our Glenfarclas spirit. Whilst we have made new and exciting changes our vision to produce traditional Highland Single Malt Whiskies remains the same. We would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years from everyone here at Glenfarclas.

Introducing Mark who has joined us in the Mash House as an operator.

Please welcome Scott who has taken on the role of Bio plant operator.

And last but not least Niall, who is our newest Still House operator.

Extremely Limited 29-Year-Old Single Malt: Bruichladdach’s Black Art 9.1 – Scotch Whisky News

A Singular Scotch Collectible from Renaissance Star
1992 Bruichladdich “Black Art – Edition 9.1” 29 Year Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml) ($599.99)

The rebirth of Islay’s renowned Bruichladdach distillery has been one of the most exciting developments of the past decade in the Scotch world, which makes this release that much more compelling. The oldest single malt ever sent to market by Bruichladdach, the Black Art – Edition 9.1 is an unparalleled glimpse into history and tradition, as it was produced and laid down before the distillery’s closure in 1994. Matured for 29 years in cask (only head distiller Adam Hannet knows what kind of cask), this extraordinary unpeated whisky is hands-down one of the most impressive collector’s items we’ve seen come through the door in recent years. Displaying opulent, layered aromatics and flavors carried by mesmerizing depth and viscosity that are second to none, it’s a Scotch experience unlike any other. We’ve taken in a painfully small allocation, so avid aficionados will want to move fast, as opportunities like this only come along once in a blue moon.
