Lochlea’s first core single maltĀ ‘Our Barley’
Carefully matured in three cask types – bourbon, Oloroso sherry and STR – Our Barley is the newest release from Ayrshire-based Lochlea. This one sits alongside their hugely popular seasonal releases as their first core expression.
New whisky
The first ongoing release of Lochlea single malt, Our Barley has been matured in a combination of ex-bourbon, ex-sherry and shaved toasted and recharred (STR) casks to create a complex character. Aromas of marmalade, pears and freshly-cut grass lead to flavours of golden syrup, black pepper, macadamia nuts and cream soda on the palate.

AN ONGOING CORE SINGLE MALT EXPRESSION, WHICH SITS ALONGSIDE SIDE THE SEASONAL LIMITED EDITIONS. THE LOCHLEA DISTILLERY’S MASTER BLENDER HAS CAREFULLY HONED THIS RECIPE, AND WITH A COMBINATION OF BOURBON, SHERRY AND STR CASKS THERE IS A WHOLE NEW LEVEL OF DEPTH AND COMPLEXITY TO THE FINAL WHISKY.
NOSE: PEAR SYRUP, FRUIT BON-BONS, WARM CUT GRASS, MARMALADE.
PALATE: GOLDEN SYRUP. PEPPER. RYE BREAD. MACADAMIA NUTS. CREAM SODA.
FINISH: LONG FINISH WITH A LASTING ORANGE BEESWAX NOTE.

Lochlea Our Barley
First Release
The third release from the the new single malt distillery on Lochlea Farm, Ayrshire.Ā An independent, family run distillery, this is trueĀ field to cask whisky using their own barley and on-site natural water source.
Bottled at 46% ABV, the whisky has beenĀ matured in first fill Bourbon barrels, STR barriques and Oloroso Sherry butts distilled using locally grown barley.
Overseen byĀ John Campbell (formally Laphroaig) this is one of the biggest Scotch whisky releases of 2022.

Chivas Brothers, the Scotch Whisky business of Pernod Ricard, today announced it will be recruiting 136 permanent operators at its world class Kilmalid bottling site in Dumbarton from 6th July 2022.
Manufacturing is a vital element of Chivas Brothersā business and with every single bottle making its way through the Dumbarton site, strengthening the team will help improve supply chains to meet the growing global demands for Scotch.

The investment in the future of Dumbarton follows an Ā£88 million expansion plan into Aberlour and Miltonduff, two of Chivas Brothersā strategic single malt distilleries, which will go into upgrading sustainable distillation technologies at the Speyside distilleries along with significant production capacity expansions to support the future of Scotch.

Douglas Laing & Co. are one of those very relaxed independent whisky bottlers. It makes us very happy to have their support for many years. This year they will be represented by the always relaxed Valentijn Klop .
He will of course be bringing several very relaxed bottlings from the Douglas Laing ranges, and he will be hosting a couple of our “Drinks with…” sessions on the Saturday. These sessions are included in your Maltstock ticket!
On July 16th Maltstock will be present at Skotsjfest to meet our old and new friends! Skotsjfest is a relaxed small scale festival in Echt in The Netherlands. Skotsjfest is sold out, but for all of you who have managed to buy a ticket, come and meet us at our stand!
Another very realxed addition to the Maltstock line-up is the Scotch Malt Whisky Society! Whisky by numbers, silly names, crazy tasting notes, but generally rather relaxed whisky!
Having been previously as a guest, simply relaxing, we’re very happy that Connas (Lee Connor) is coming over to let you enjoy some very relaxed Society Cask whiskies. Connas will also be hosting a couple of “Drinks with…” session. These sessions are of course very relaxedly included in your Maltstock ticket.

Craggamore 26 Year Old 1995 vintage Speyside single malt Scotch whisky. Single sherry butt bottled April 2022 by Hunter Laing & Co. for the Old & Rare Platinum series. 300 numbered bottles. This dark gold whisky has a nose of plums, berries and green ferns. The palate is sweet with notes of apricots, chocolate, and spice. The finish is long, with lingering fruit notes.
Cragganmore Distillery in 1869 in the heart of Scotlandās Speyside whisky region. This is a malt whisky distillery equipped with four very short stills and is one of the few Scottish malt whisky distilleries that continues to cool its new spirit in traditional worm tubs. The few distillery bottlings including Cragganmore 12 Year Old and Distillers Edition are well enhanced by those of independent bottlers.
