Barrell Craft 9 Year Old K&L Exclusive Single Barrel #Z5L5 ~ Indiana Straight Bourbon Whiskey News

From the producer, “For us, the American Whiskey category is all about creativity. Fewer rules and regulations than bourbon means a winder cannon of options. This allows us to be more experimental when it comes to sourcing, blending, and creating batches of whiskey that are truly greater than the sum of their parts. Our goal is simple, but audacious: Become the most creative, forward-thinking, and progressive whiskey blenders in the nation. That doesn’t mean we’re compromising our principles. We’re still meticulous in sourcing the best whiskeys and finishing casks from our favorite producers around the world. A global mindset and years of experience in the industry mean we can get our hands on rare and unusual whiskeys that no other company can. When blending every limited-edition batch, our goal is always to create whiskeys that are unique and expressive of their ingredients. That philosophy is reflected in our transparent labeling, which gives you as much information as possible about exactly what’s in the bottle. Think of it as a road map to a brand-new whiskey experience.”

GoodWill Fund to Benefit Ross-shire Communities – Scotch Whisky News

GoodWill Fund to benefit Ross-shire communities

17th January 2023; GlenWyvis Distillery has today launched The GoodWill Fund to benefit good causes in the local community.

The first funding round of £10,000 is now available to apply for via the GlenWyvis Distillery website. A further two rounds of funding will be launched throughout 2023, making a total of £30,000 available this year, with further funding rounds being launched each year.

The GoodWill Fund, which is administered by the GlenWyvis Distillery Community Benefit Society, is made up from five per cent of all online sales of GlenWyvis whisky, and is available for communities and organisations to apply for until 3rd March 2023.

Applications are being accepted from Ross-shire communities and organisations for initiatives with educational, cultural or entrepreneurial benefits, as follows:

  1. Educational: To support the learning needs of disadvantaged children in Ross-shire, to provide laptop computers or other IT support to children at school who would not otherwise be able to afford them and whose education would suffer without such equipment. Awards of up to £400 can be given to educational initiatives.
  2. Cultural: To provide education and information about the culture, history and society of Ross-shire. This is open to community groups for projects that provide engagement in these cultural facets. Awards of up to £2,500 can be given to cultural initiatives.
  3. Entrepreneurial: To encourage economic activity in the IV postcode area and support the recovery or development of new or existing sustainable businesses which benefit the community. Grants will be awarded with the hope that these businesses will flourish in the future and will themselves contribute to the GoodWill Fund. Awards of up to £2,500 can be given to entrepreneurial initiatives.

Dr. Jock

Commenting on the launch of the GoodWill Fund, Dr Jock Ramsey, Management Committee Member for The GoodWill Fund, said: “This is a significant step forward for the GlenWyvis Community Benefit Society as we are now able to start giving something back to the community through the GoodWill Fund – something we have been working towards since GlenWyvis Distillery was created.

“We will be promoting the GoodWill Fund to schools, community groups and sustainable businesses in Ross-shire and I would encourage anyone interested to get their applications in before 3rd March 2023.”

All applications will be vetted objectively by the GoodWill Fund sub-committee with oversight and input from the Board.

Jock continues: “This first call for applications to the GoodWill Fund is just the start. Sales of GlenWyvis four-year-old Single Malt Whisky are going very well so we are now building up the GoodWill Fund for next year. I look forward to seeing how the GoodWill Fund will benefit educational, cultural and entrepreneurial initiatives in our community this year and well into the future.”

Any individuals, organisations or businesses interested in applying for the GoodWill Fund can do so by filling in an application form by 3rd March 2023 here: https://glenwyvis.com/goodwill-fund/

About the GoodWill Fund

The GoodWill Fund is a core function of GlenWyvis Distillery Community Benefit Society as set out in the Society’s rules, which is “to exist in order to carry on business for the benefit of the community”. The GoodWill Fund was built up by putting aside five per cent of online sales of GlenWyvis whisky and gin.

£30,000 of funding is available in 2023, offered in three rounds of £10,000.

Applications are being accepted from communities and organisations in Ross-shire for initiatives with educational, cultural or entrepreneurial benefits. Applications for the first round of funding are open from 17th January until 3rd March 2023.

About GlenWyvis Distillery

Nestled beneath the sprawling mass of Ben Wyvis in the Scottish Highlands, GlenWyvis Distillery was established in 2015. The idea was to unite the community of Dingwall through the creation of a distillery principally owned by local people.

Dingwall’s last whisky distillery closed in 1926. After a 90-year absence, GlenWyvis Distillery revived the town’s lost distilling tradition, and made its own history in 2016 by running a record-breaking open share offer. More than 3,000 like-minded people invested in GlenWyvis to create the first ever 100% community-owned distillery.

C.1832 Scottish Distillery Maps For Sale At Mark Littler Ltd – Scotch Whisky News

C.1832 Scottish Distillery Maps For Sale At Mark Littler Ltd

The distillery maps have been digitally restored to create high-quality framed prints.

The first historical mention of whisky distillation in Scotland dates back to 1494 in the Scottish Exchequer Rolls in which there is a mention of “eight bolls of malt to Friar John Cor wherewith to make aquavitae”, aquavitae being a latin term meaning ‘water of life’. The term ‘uisge beatha’ was often used in Gaelic.

Since this historic document was created, distilleries have sprung up, been mothballed, been demolished, and endured throughout Scotland’s history. Today there are over 140 distilleries in Scotland, some of which are shown in this digitally restored map of Argyllshire, originally made in 1832.

The maps are reproduced from the Atlas of Scotland maps, published in 1832 by cartographer, publisher, and bookbinder John Thomson. The maps were originally hand drawn by William Johnson and engraved by John & George Menzies. On the map such landmarks as the Isle of Mull, Islay, and Campbeltown.

Overlaid onto the maps are icons representing the currently active distilleries in Argyllshire, including Lagavulin, Bowmore, Oban, Laphroaig, Bruichladdich, Kilchoman, Caol Ila, Bunnahabhain, Lagg, Ncn’ean, Jura, Ardnamurchan, Port Ellen, Lochranza, Lagg, Springbank, Glen Scotia, Glengyle, and Ardbeg. In the bottom left-hand corner of the map, a street view of Campbeltown can be seen. Campbeltown was once the whisky capital of the world, with more than 30 operational distilleries. However, many of these distilleries fell foul of the 1980s whisky loch. Today, there are only 3 left: Springbank, Glengyle, and Glen Scotia.

These historic maps are the perfect gift for any whisky lover – an authentic, yet modernised, map of Scotland’s whisky-distilling west coast.

The prints are produced in Lancashire, England, printed via fine art Giclee techniques, mounted on an acid-free backing board and presented in solid wood frames.

The prints are available in three sizes at three different price points:
