Jack Daniel’s Launches New Batches of 12-Year-Old and 10-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey

Jack Daniel’s Launches New Batches of 12-Year-Old and 10-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey

Jack Daniel’s 12-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey Batch 2 and 10-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey Batch 3, available now in limited quantities across the US, are the latest releases in the brand’s annual Aged Series

Lynchburg, Tennessee (February 5, 2024) – The Jack Daniel Distillery today announced the release of Batch 2 of its 12-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey and Batch 3 of its 10-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey. The expressions are the latest in the Jack Daniel’s Aged Series, an annual release of age-stated expressions launched in 2021 to honor the brand’s whiskey-making traditions.

“Our Jack Daniel’s Aged Series has given us the opportunity to produce modern whiskeys that simultaneously capture the essence of the liquid Mr. Jack created over 150 years ago,” said Chris Fletcher, Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller. “These releases embody the artistry, passion and craftsmanship that define Jack Daniel’s legacy, and I’m excited for our friends to enjoy this year’s batches of special whiskeys.”

While batches within the Aged Series will have slight variations, the predominant notes of oak, butterscotch and tobacco can be found in each whiskey. Jack Daniel’s 12-Year-Old Batch 2 has predominant notes of pipe tobacco, oak, and butterscotch, while Jack Daniel’s 10-Year-Old Batch 3 is oak-forward with layers of fruit and cocoa.

Both expressions were charcoal mellowed and aged in new, toasted, and charred American white oak barrels first in the upper floors of our barrelhouse before being relocated to the lower ricks to extend the maturation process. Both share the same grain bill as the classic Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey of 80% corn, 12% malted barley and 8% rye.

Jack Daniel’s 12-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey Batch 2 is offered at 107 proof (53.5% abv) and Jack Daniel’s 10-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey Batch 3 at 97 proof (48.5% abv). They are available in limited quantities across the United States this month in 700 mL bottles for suggested retail prices of $94.99 and $84.99, respectively.

Behind the Scenes of the £2.25 Million Charity Whisky Auction – Whisky Magazine News

Behind the scenes at Distillers’ One of One — the £2.25 million charity Scotch whisky auction

Every two years, the Scotch whisky industry’s preeminent distillers submit exceptional, one-off whiskies to go under the hammer at the Distillers’ One of One auction. Created by The Distillers’ Charity, the philanthropic arm of the Worshipful Company of Distillers, one of the UK’s oldest livery companies, the auction’s hammer price is donated to charity and principally benefits the Distillers’ Youth Action Fund. So far, two auctions have raised an incredible £4.2 million for charity.

The Whisky Magazine team headed to the recent auction at Hopetoun House near Edinburgh to learn more about the whiskies on sale at the most recent auction and the Youth Action Fund’s tangible impact on the lives of vulnerable 16-25-year-olds in Scotland.

Whisky Wednesday Reviews – Scotch Malt Whisky Society 19.90 Chilled Toddy (Glen Garioch) – Scotch Whisky News

Scotch Malt Whisky Society 19.90 Chilled Toddy (Glen Garioch) 54%

The SMWS are such a solid stepping stone for everyone who is into whisky. Would you like it single barrel, cask strength, and as naturally presented as possible? Then they’re the people to go and see!

I was in Edinburgh last year when I decided to become a member, and I’m happy to say that it’ll be renewed as soon as it can. The trickiest bit, as is with any single barrel selections, is deciding what you want. It took me a good month or two before I could click checkout on things that really appealed to the nerd in me. This is the final of two bottles that we’re going to talk about.

Glen Garioch – I love this place. Since a late rediscovery of their standard whiskies in 2023, the appreciation train for this very old school Highland distillery is still speeding along the tracks at good pace. A deep, nutty, dry, chocolate style of single malt whisky that has all of this dripping, lingering spice notes that just make it feel almost infinite.

This SMWS bottling is sourced from first fill bourbon, cask strength, and all the good stuff! At a price of £130 per bottle, this really hits everything that the SMWS is about for me. Great casks, great liquid, reasonably priced in the modern world of whisky, and something to cherish in every glass.

Bulleit Frontier Whiskey unveils Bulleit American Single Malt – American Whiskey News

Bulleit Frontier Whiskey unveils Bulleit American Single Malt

With a recycled glass bottle, Bulleit American Single Malt pays homage to the brand’s commitment to innovation and sustainability

LOUISVILLE, Ky.Feb. 2024 – Bulleit Frontier Whiskey is announcing its entry into the rapidly growing American Single Malt category with the launch of Bulleit American Single Malt; a new and permanent addition to its family of whiskeys.

Distilled with a mash bill of 100% malted barley and aged in charred new American white oak barrels, Bulleit American Single Malt is the latest demonstration of the brand’s commitment to pushing the frontier of whiskey by experimenting with aging, finishing, and flavor nuances.

Bulleit American Single Malt delivers notes of sweet vanilla and toasted oak on the nose. On the palate, it is light and fruity with hints of red fruit and pear. At 90 proof (45% ABV) the whiskey follows into a smooth finish of oaky caramel and subtle cocoa notes.

A passion for sustainability, innovation, and design

As a brand that relies on natural resources to produce quality whiskeys, Bulleit has a long-standing history of pioneering sustainability and creativity within its portfolio, reducing its carbon footprint, and investing in restoring the natural resources that go into its production and packaging. Staying true to its iconic, award winning style, Bulleit American Single Malt showcases a sustainably minded evolution of Bulleit’s trademark bottle with a striking and unique green hue, crafted with post-consumer recycled glass.

Bulleit’s dedication to sustainability began In 2017 when it opened a state-of-the-art distillery in Shelbyville, KY. It was designed with a focus on sustainable practices, including natural habitat protection, water conservation, and local ingredient sourcing. The bar at the distillery’s visitor experience is free from single-use plastics, and sources cocktail garnishes grown in the on-site garden.

After forging a partnership in 2020 with the nonprofit American Forests, Bulleit has committed to planting and restoring 2.5 million white oak trees by 2026. These trees will help replenish the natural white oak resource that is necessary for the creation of whiskey barrels, and will also help combat the effects of climate change by sequestering carbon, purifying air, and conserving water.

Later, in 2021, Bulleit began production at Diageo’s first carbon-neutral distillery, located in Lebanon, KY. Designed with sustainability at its core, the distillery operates using 100% renewable energy, and is built to ensure that fossil fuels are not used during production.

Jesse Damashek, Senior Vice President of Whiskies & Liqueurs at Diageo commented:

“Bulleit American Single Malt brings Bulleit’s restless innovation and passion for sustainability into this exciting new category that is set to make waves in the whiskey industry for years to come. With a 100% malted barley mash bill, and a striking green bottle created from post consumer recycled glass, this exceptional whiskey covers a lot of new ground for the brand. £950.00

Glendronach 25 Year Old Grandeur Highland single malt Scotch whisky. Batch #008 matured in Oloroso sherry butts. Limited release of 1,505 numbered bottles. A torrent of rich sherry aromas flow over sour plums and dried prunes. A delightful contribution of ginger bread and cracked black pepper add a gentle warmth. Dark chocolate with a touch of marzipan rounds the nose and adds contrasting hints of sweetness through the robust vintage character. An opulent, vintage sherry style combining a medley of dark espresso, Mediterranean fruits, rich molasses and a hint of herbal bitters. An earthy, aged oak character of air cured tobacco leaves a leathery dryness, adding great depth and texture to the palate, contributing to the unique, full-bodied Highland style. After a quarter of a century peacefully lying in our traditional dunnage warehouses, the combination of casks selected by Master Blender Billy Walker have come to encapsulate the rich history and heritage of GlenDronach as the sherry casks connoisseurs.

Glendronach Malt Whisky Distillery was established north east of Huntley in the Highland whisky region by James Allardice in 1826. The malting floors at Glendronach Distillery closed in 1996 and it was the last distillery in Scotland to heat its stills directly with flames from a coal-fired furnace, until it had to comply with new regulations in 2005. Glendronach Distillery is resplendent with a traditional cask iron mash tun, wooden washbacks, four stills. Famous for its well-aged and top quality sherried single malt, for example Glendronach 21 Year Old Parliament, and single cask releases. The distillery is now owned by Brown Forman of America.
