Laphroaig 2013 12 Year Old Madeira Single Cask #1328 TWS Exclusive – Scotch Whisky News

Laphroaig 2013 12 Year Old Madeira Single Cask #1328 TWS Exclusive

This exceptional single malt is an exciting rarity that we can’t wait to share with you – it’s a dedicated Laphroaig bottling created exclusively for The Whisky Shop! Crafted with our customers firmly in mind, and found nowhere else in the world, it represents a unique collaboration with one of Islay’s most iconic distilleries and stands proudly as a true collector’s piece.

Drawn and fully matured in Madeira Hogshead cask #1328, the liquid which was distilled in 2013 at 51.6% ABV, is limited to just 335 bottles!

The nose opens with the bold medicinal peat smoke that is so characteristically Laphroaig, before easing into a sweeter space full of dried figs, stewed berries and sweet pipe tobacco. The palate is rich and oily, where Laphroaig’s hallmark iodine and bonfire smoke meet the warming sweetness of the Madeira cask, revealing dark honey, clove and baked apple in full, rounded layers. The finish is long, leaving glowing peat embers softened by a delicate sea-spray note.

Whisky Updates: B-Word Cask Strength and New Islay Cask Rye – Canadian Whisky News

First, B-Word Bourbon Style Whisky will be back in stock beginning Friday December 12th. Getting BC grown hard corn has been a challenge so this batch is quite small at 370 bottles. Batch 4 a four-grain bourbon style and is a vatting of four casks: European oak–aged corn whisky, and American oak–aged rye, wheat, and malted barley. I took a uniquely Canadian approach to this bourbon style: rather than creating a mash bill and fermenting all the grains together, we mashed, distilled, and aged each grain separately. This allowed for more versatility when blending. The final whisky is 60% corn, 30% rye, 5% wheat, and 5% malt. The standard bottle strength is 46%, but if you are looking for something a little more high proof, we bottled a limited amount (147 bottles) of cask strength B-word at 62.5%. I don’t expect either whisky to last long, and we won’t have any more for a year, so  if corn whisky is your fav, stock up while you can!

Second, we have one last new release for 2025. Islay Cask Rye Whisky is a brand new product, and was aged entirely in ex-Islay Scotch Whisky barrels from a distillery that rhymes with shmar bag. Bottled at 50% ABV, this whisky is a first as far as we can find, as we don’t think anyone in the world has been crazy enough to age 100% Rye Whisky full maturation in peated whisky barrels! Expect notes of vanilla, campfire, cloves, cinnamon, dill, and a even a bit of salty sea spray. This is a must try for any fan of rye whisky or peated whisky, and even if you don’t like peated whisky yet, this might be your gateway to the category.

Heaven Hill Brands Marks 90 Years with a Renewed Commitment to People, Partners, Communities, and Beloved Spirits – American Whiskey News

Heaven Hill Brands Marks 90 Years with a Renewed Commitment to People, Partners, Communities, and Beloved Spirits

BARDSTOWN, KY (December 12, 2025) — Heaven Hill Brands, the largest independent family owned and led distilled spirits company of brands in the United States, celebrates its 90th anniversary on Dec.13, 2025 with a look back at a defining legacy and a clear view of the decades ahead. On Friday the 13th in 1935, the founders opened their doors with no brands, no inventory, and no stock. From that unlikely start grew a leading global supplier shaped by generational stewardship, trusted relationships, and a portfolio of consumer-beloved spirits.

For ninety years, Heaven Hill’s story has been rooted in people and a belief that success is something built together. That spirit underpins the company’s Thriving Together platform, introduced this year as part of the organization’s refreshed corporate brand. The platform reflects the same values that carried the company from the Great Depression era to the modern spirits landscape with connection, craftsmanship, and a commitment to quality.

“What stands out after ninety years is the character of the people who built this place,” said Max L. Shapira, Executive Chairman. “Every generation brought its own strengths, but the through line has always been integrity and hard work. We’re committed to keeping that spirit alive.”

“Our new identity helps us tell that story more clearly,” said Kate Latts, Co-President. “It captures the pride our teams bring to their work and the trust our partners place in us, but it also brings forward our mission to enhance the enjoyment of life and our vision to thrive together for generations. It’s a unifying moment at a time when connection truly matters.”

As the family describes it, December 13 is “just a date on the calendar.” What matters is the trajectory ahead and the shared work that continues to define Heaven Hill’s future.

A Year Defined by Milestones

The anniversary year has been marked by a series of milestones that underscore the company’s momentum. Alongside the refreshed corporate identity, this summer, the company opened its new Louisville corporate office, a space designed to bring teams together and strengthen collaboration. The launch of the new corporate website followed, offering a unified digital presence that showcases Heaven Hill’s brands, history, and values. Spirit Week, celebrated across all sites, brought employees together under the Thriving Together banner through education, recognition, and community engagement.

Heaven Hill also celebrated the commissioning and grand opening of the new Heaven Hill Springs Distillery, a generational investment that strengthens long-term growth and production resilience.

Industry Recognition

Heaven Hill’s progress is reflected in standout recognition across whiskey, tequila, vodka, tourism, responsibility, and corporate leadership. Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Rye was named Whisky Advocate’s 2025 Whisky of the Year, the first rye to earn the publication’s top honor and a historic moment for the category. The company was also named the Most Awarded U.S. Distillery at the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition for the second consecutive year, earning more than 90 medals across its portfolio. Heaven Hill was additionally recognized by StateWays Magazine as the 2025 Spirits Supplier of the Year, celebrating exceptional growth, innovation, and resilience across the portfolio. Further distinctions included Social Achievement of the Year from the Global Drinks Intel ESG Awards and a second consecutive Best Managed Company designation.

Across the agave portfolio, Tequila Ocho continued to earn distinction as one of the most respected additive-free tequilas in the world, celebrated for its transparency, terroir leadership, and single-estate craftsmanship. Lunazul Tequila reached a major growth milestone, surpassing 2 million cases with a clear path toward 2.5 million in 2026. Both brands were also recognized by StateWays on the Fastest-Growing Growth Brands list, underscoring Heaven Hill’s accelerating strength in the agave category.

Within American Whiskey, Old Fitzgerald introduced its new 7-Year-Old Bottled-in-Bond signature expression, reintroducing the brand’s iconic “Key to Hospitality” for a new generation of drinkers. Heaven Hill’s extensive Bottled-in-Bond portfolio continued to distinguish the company as the leading steward of one of America’s most historic quality standards. The company’s visitor centers welcomed more than 300,000 guests this year, reflecting sustained interest in Heaven Hill’s heritage, hospitality, and award-winning tourism experiences. Deep Eddy Vodka sustained strong consumer momentum, including the introduction of Deep Eddy Pineapple, which expanded the brand’s approachable flavor portfolio and reinforced its position as one of the most vibrant and trusted American vodkas in the market.

A Landmark Year of Community Impact

This year also introduced 90 for 90, a companywide initiative inviting employees to donate ninety minutes of service in their communities. The response grew far beyond that starting point. More than 1,099 employees contributed over 9,098 volunteer hours across 26 charities, supporting programs ranging from youth education to food security. Teams organized technology tours for underserved students, rallied with Kroger and Dare to Care to help create 659,866 meals for families in need, and partnered with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits to raise more than $34,000 for the ALS Association Rocky Mountains in honor of Parker Beam. Employees also stepped up for Bike MS, Texas flood relief, and grassroots organizations in West Louisville, reinforcing the company’s commitment to being a spirited neighbor. Combined with employee giving and corporate contributions, Heaven Hill and its people supported more than 100 charities this year, underscoring the depth and reach of Heaven Hill’s community impact.

Louisville Business First recognized that commitment, ranking Heaven Hill No. 2 for employee volunteerism and No. 13 for corporate giving in this year’s Partners in Philanthropy awards. Spirit Week Community Day exemplified that spirit in action, as more than 400 employees generated more than $35,500 in single-day impact through food donations and back-to-school initiatives across several communities.

Looking Ahead

Heaven Hill’s long-term investments, from distillation capacity to community partnerships, reflect the company’s confidence in what lies ahead and, in the people, building its future.

“As an independent, family-led company, we have the privilege of thinking in decades, not quarters,” said Allan Latts, Co-President. “Ninety years in, we’re energized by the possibilities ahead, new consumers, new markets, new stories to tell, and guided by the values that brought us here.”

Rounding out the year, the company introduced a special 9-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon to commemorate the 90th anniversary, crafted from barrels laid down on the 80th anniversary and blended to showcase the depth, character, and tradition that define Heaven Hill. Heaven Hill will continue commemorating the 90th anniversary with employee celebrations, partner engagements, and storytelling moments that honor both the company’s past and the people shaping its next chapter.

DECEMBER 2025 AUCTION NOW LIVE!

Ho ho ho, do we have a small but mighty auction for you this month! With a number of old, limited and rare bottlings, including this older expression of Springbank bottled in the 1970’s. The neck label from this time period would usually indicate the age of the whisky but this is missing, however, extensive research suggests the age of the spirit within the bottle is 8 years old. Expressions of Springbank from this era are becoming increasingly harder to find making this an interesting lot to put on your watchlist!

Another rarity is this Caol Ila which was gifted to Diageo employees in 1996 to mark the 150th anniversary of the Islay distillery, this bottle was distilled in the mid-1970’s, aged for 20 years and then bottled in 1996 at cask strength in limited numbers.

The Macallan Archival Series is inspired by adverts that ran between the 1970’s – 1990’s. Each Folio release is presented with an illustrated hardback book that delves into the history of the adverts, which were originally designed by David Holmes and advert copywriter Nick Salaman. Released in 2017, Folio 2 was the second instalment of the Archival Series, Sherry Cask matured and thought to be around 12 years old, with only 2,000 bottles ever released! The artwork on the label and presentation tin are the work of the artist Sara Midda – many of the works she produced were used in Macallan advertising promotions in the 1990’s to 2000’s.

Manager’s Drams have been made available to workers of the distilleries (in what is now the Diageo portfolio) for many years. Annually released from a single distillery, the manager is tasked to choose the finest casks from their distillery to produce this yearly malt which is then bottled at Cask strength and in limited numbers. This bottling was distilled at Blair Athol, aged 15 years and then bottled at cask strength in 1996.

These are only a few of the old, limited and collectable bottles featured in our December auction, to view more wee gems visit clickwhiskyauctions.com. Register to bid. Remember, you’ve got to be in it to win it! Auction ends Sunday 21st December from 8pm GMT.

Please note: Owing to the festive period, there may be a delay in shipping. Please take this into account before placing any bids.

2011 Secret Speyside (M) *MACALLAN* 13 Year Old “Signatory 100 Proof Edition” 1st Fill Oloroso Sherry Butts Non Chillfiltered Speyside Single Malt ~ Scotch Whisky News

2011 Secret Speyside (M) *MACALLAN* 13 Year Old “Signatory 100 Proof Edition” 1st Fill Oloroso Sherry Butts Non Chillfiltered Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

The famous Secret Speyside (M) bottlings from Signatory have earned a loyal following for offering remarkable character at truly outstanding prices. Now Signatory is expanding the series with small batch versions of these highly regarded stocks at equally competitive levels. The concept is straightforward: capture the essence of the distillery’s character while delivering higher specifications and greater value. In this release we are well below the cost of the official 12 year old, yet it is bottled at a higher strength for more intensity and depth. Unlike the EU edition, which combines first fill and refill Oloroso sherry casks, this version is drawn entirely from first fill Oloroso butts. The result is a whisky that is dark, rich, and unctuous, brimming with the old school sherried intensity that many modern Macallan releases seem to lack. It shows layers of dried fruit, roasted nuts, leather, and cocoa balanced by a subtle spice and a long, warming finish. This is an absolutely spectacular value and yet another reminder that Signatory remains one of the industry leaders in consistently delivering the very best whisky at the very best price.
