NEW: Fettercairn Warehouse 2 Batch No.001 ✨ at The Whisky Shop – Scotch Whisky News

Introducing a new limited edition Fettercairn!

The first release from the distillery’s small batch Warehouse Collection, Fettercairn Warehouse 2 Batch No.001 brings together five different cask styles all filled back in 2010 and laid down to mature within the unique environment of one of Fettercairn’s oldest dunnage warehouses.

This is a single malt Scotch with a tropical soul, packed with aromas of melon, pear, honey and vanilla, followed by creamy coffee, grapefruit, spiced apple and cinnamon on the palate.

A limited edition, we expect these bottles to go FAST!

This first release is part a new series of rare and limited small batch whiskies drawn from the Highland distillery’s 14 dunnage warehouses and each named after the warehouse that helped to shape it.

The collection is the start of a journey of discovery led by Whisky Maker Gregg Glass, researching how each warehouse makes its own unique mark on the Fettercairn spirit.

Pre-order today for dispatch this Thursday.

Arran Sherry Cask The Bodega at Loch Fyne Whiskies – Scotch Whisky News

Arran Sherry Cask The Bodega
Was: £59.00
Now: £52.95

Distilled and matured at the Arran’s eponymous distillery in Lochranza, this expression, subtitled The Bodega, is matured for seven years in some of the finest first fill sherry hogsheads available, reminiscent of some of the earliest Arran single malts. Bottled at a natural cask strength of 55.8% abv, there isn’t a drop of artificial colouring of chill filtration in sight.

Nose: chocolate raisins and sweet mandarins with a touch of spice.

Palate: warm and mouth-filling with ripe figs, sweet cherries, and plenty of sherried notes balanced with Arran’s delicate spirit.

Finish: long and warming with pepper, toasted oak and hazelnuts.

Caskshare Partners with Edinburgh’s Holyrood Distillery – Scotch Whisky News

Caskshare Partners with Edinburgh’s Holyrood Distillery

Whisky buying platform Caskshare is pleased to announce a new partnership with Edinburgh’s Holyrood Distillery. Four unique sherry casks have been added to the Caskshare roster, all of which are available to purchase by the bottle, giving whisky lovers unprecedented access to a diverse portfolio of cask whiskies.

Established in 2019, Holyrood is Edinburgh’s first single malt distillery in almost a century. The urban distillery is located in the heart of the city and is inspired by the surrounding environs, as well as the rich distilling and brewing heritage. The brand’s new limited edition MADE by EDINBURGH range, marries craft traditions with bold new approaches to flavour, combining local malts and yeast with unique sherry casks to create four distinct cask whiskies. The distillery aims to once again unlock the city’s whisky potential with its new range. By working closely with local farmers and deep-diving into the city’s lost brewing history, Holyrood’s innovative approach to whisky making explores the exciting flavours of speciality malts. The casks available on the Caskshare platform include an Oloroso CaskMoscatel CaskAmontillado Cask and a Pedro Ximenez Cask.

Founder of Caskshare, David Nicol created the Caskshare platform out of a desire to bring single cask whisky to a wider audience. Having already launched the successful whisky subscription service, Craft Whisky Club, David recognised within the online whisky community a growing interest in a whisky’s provenance and the journey from distillery to dram. His vision was to lower the barrier of entry into the world of cask ownership, and to help customers connect with their favourite distilleries from the get-go, whilst also allowing distilleries to engage with whisky fans in a real and tangible way with whisky straight from the cask.

Off Their Plate’s Natalie Guo Honored with $50,000 Eagle Rare Life Award – American Whiskey News

Off Their Plate’s Natalie Guo Honored with
$50,000 Eagle Rare Life Award

FRANKFORT, FRANKLIN COUNTY, KY (Feb. 9, 2021) – In the face of a pandemic, many heroes emerged. Natalie Guo is one such hero. She founded Off Their Plate, a non-profit organization that partners with restaurants to help feed their local communities in crisis. As a result, the Boston, Mass., resident has been given the 2021 Eagle Rare Life Award.

The honor is a $50,000 recognition and charitable donation for an individual who, like the award’s namesake bourbon, finds ways to Reach Higher in fulfilling their American Dream. Guo, born in China and immigrated to the U.S. from Sweden as a child, responded to the COVID-19 pandemic by creating a charity that both revives restaurants struggling with quarantine restrictions, and feeds health care workers and community members in need because of the virus.

She was chosen out of dozens of public nominations and is the 11th recipient of the Eagle Rare Life Award.

“Natalie’s story is exceptional,” said Eagle Rare Bourbon Brand Director Joshua Steely. “She has a truly representative story of pursuing the American dream to enrich her life and the lives of others. That is the embodiment of Reaching Higher. It’s that excellence that not only helps, but also inspires others. It’s truly patriotic and we are proud to recognize her and reward Off Their Plate with the Eagle Rare Life Award.”

Off Their Plate partners with struggling restaurants owned by women or people of color to make hot meals for healthcare workers or people experiencing hunger. Each $100 donation restores restaurant wages to the local economy while providing 10 meals for those in need.

“It was a huge surprise to even be considered for the award,” Guo said. Off Their Plate was built by a community of volunteers who have worked tirelessly to distribute 800,000 meals

across the country in the last nine months. Volunteers and friends like Alexis Harrison, who nominated me for the award, have sprung into action in every direction. This award is really theirs. I’m so honored to accept this grant which will help us continue to do this important work.”

Guo’s creation not only happened in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak, but during her studies at Harvard Medical School. She is no stranger to work, however. She is a graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Business School. Along her journey, she has also tutored inner-city children, advised biotech startup companies and worked as a healthcare investor.

The Eagle Rare Life Award honors individuals whose efforts stand out as those who live a Rare Life and Reach Higher to achieve levels of excellence for themselves and their communities. Past winners include individuals who spearheaded efforts to fight childhood cancer, recognize fallen heroes of military service, lead environmental projects and create opportunities for those with disabilities. The individual or individuals are honored with the award while a $50,000 donation is made to the charity of their choice by Eagle Rare Bourbon.

Nominations for the award were accepted until December 20, 2020. The winner was chosen by a team of non-partisan stakeholders.
