Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 502: Royal Salute 21 Year Old The Peated Blend – Scotch Whisky News

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 502: Royal Salute 21 Year Old The Peated Blend

Mark Dermul, Belgian whiskyblogger, tries a blend… but a rather grand one. Royal Salute was created at the time to celebrate the coronation of Elizabeth II. It is a reference to the ceremonial cannon shots fired from the Tower of London. Several versions of the Royal Salute have already come on the market. For this special edition ‘The Peated Blend’ malts were also used that are no longer produced, namely Imperial and Caperdonich.

Whisky Wednesday Reviews Glenturret 12YO 2022, 46% – Scotch Whisky News

https://youtu.be/Xj9F3LXq4rM

Glenturret 12YO

I feel as if this whisky is doing the rounds amongst most whisky reviewers, so here I am!

A distillery with plenty of history, but it’s new approach reaches beyond that, in my eyes. These elegant looking decanters that can house a variety of whisky styles from The Glenturret distillery are a much more open, and welcoming approach to whisky drinkers of all varieties.

Matured solely in ex-sherry casks, this liquid noses much brighter than you would imagine, and it tastes much older than it states on the label.

All in all, this stuff is gold in the current whisky world, I genuinely feel as if Glenturret are setting up securely for their future’s, as well as fans of their new liquid.

Whisky Wednesday Reviews Mannochmore 10YO, Cask&BottleCo – Scotch Whisky News

Mannochmore 10YO, 46.7%, Cask&BottleCo

https://youtu.be/GAA7X2gK0cU

Cask & Bottle Co are a brand new bottler on the independent scene. Based in London, and wanting to showcase some classic examples of Scottish whisky, we have their first ever bottling here to sample, a Mannochmore 10YO at 46.7% ABV, from a refil hogshead, producing 391 bottles of liquid

Mannochmore is the definition of a distillery lost in the mist of Speyside. Only opening its doors in 1971, it was quickly mothballed in 1985, before reopening again in 1989, on the cusp of the modern worlds first whisky boom! Producing 6,000,000 litres of whisky per year, most of it ends up in Johnnie Walker, but a fair chunk is sold onto indie bottlers for this very purpose.

This the definition of an absolutely textbook summer time whisky…even though we may have gone passed summer by this point, as it’s a single cask, it’s worth putting in the bunker. Cheers!

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 501: Auchentoshan 24 Year Old 1998 Thompson Brothers – Scotch Whisky News

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 501: Auchentoshan 24 Year Old 1998 Thompson Brothers

Mark Dermul, Belgian whiskyblogger, tries another Auchentoshan. Bottlings by the Thompson Brothers, who are also the proprietors of the Dornoch Distillery, sell out in the blink of an eye. So Mark felt very lucky to be able to add a few of these bottles from Auchentoshan to his collection. It’s a vatting of two refill barrels of his favourite triple distilled tipple, that yielded 321 bottles at cask strength. Let’s find out if this Toshan 1998 is any good, shall we?
