Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 505: Cambus 30 Year Old 1991 Signatory Vintage – Scotch Whisky News

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 505: Cambus 30 Year Old 1991 Signatory Vintage

Mark Dermul, Belgian whiskyblogger, tries a three decade old grain. No less than 23 casks of Cambus 1991 have already been bottled in recent years by independent bottler Signatory Vintage in their well-known Cask Strength Collection – you know, in those beautiful, but clumsy decanters. This is one of the more recent, namely from 2022, from a refill sherry butt that yielded no less than 454 bottles at cask strength.

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 504: North British 26 Year Old 1996 Electric Coo – Scotch Whisky News

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 504: North British 26 Year Old 1996 Electric Coo

Mark Dermul, Belgian whiskyblogger, tries a grain. David Stirk published a very nice and informative book entitled ‘Independent Scotch – The History of Independent Bottlers’ thanks to the help of Crowdfunding. If you supported the project financially, you not only received a signed copy of the first edition, but also this bottle. Mark was one of the many supporters and could therefore add a bottle to his bar cabinet. It is a single grain from Edinburgh of no less than 26 years old, matured on a refill sherry cask.

Whisky Wednesday Reviews Smokin’ Riff, Turntable Spirits – Scotch Whisky News

Turntable Spirits: Smokin’ Riff

We had a lovely little session with Turntable Spirits a few months ago, and now they’re back with their core range of blended whiskies.

28% North British Virgin Oak

24% Craigellachie PX Puncheon

21% Knockdhu PX Puncheon

18% Caol Ila Ex-Bourbon Oak

9% Caol Ila Ex-Red Wine Oak

Even more powerful flavours this time around! Craigellachie and Caol Ila, PX Sherry, Red Wine and Virgin Oak. Wonderfully balanced with the Caol Ila creeping through on the nose, along with the red wine, just dropping those dried red fruit notes. The end of this is that Caol Ila peat and light orchard fruit notes of apple, pear and pineapple.
