Whisky Wednesday Reviews Turntable Whiskies, Bittersweet Symphony – Scotch Whisky News

https://youtu.be/EuMbjKemVQU

Turntable Spirits: Bittersweet Symphony 46%

We had a lovely little session with Turntable Spirits a few months ago, and now they’re back with their core range of blended whiskies.

22% Craigellachie PX Puncheon

21% Craigellachie Oloroso Butt

21% Balmenach PX Puncheon

19% North British Virgin Oak

17% Blair Athol Virign Oak

This is what blending is all about! The balance of all of these powerful flavour profiles, harmonising together to the point where we can taste and smell all of the individual components. Using sherry matured Craigellachie in anything is a bold, but fun move. Blending this together with lighter highland and speyside styles from Blair Athol and Balmenach, as well as some creamy, caramel driven grain, it’s a real sherried gem.

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 503: Milk & Honey 3 Year Old 2020 Min Morsa – Israeli Whisky News

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 503: Milk & Honey 3 Year Old 2020 Min Morsa

Mark Dermul, Belgian whiskyblogger, tries an Israeli malt with a sad story. Min Morsa is Swedish for ‘my mother’. Mark’s good friend Dominic lost his mother in a traffic accident on June 2, 2023. She was born in 1946. On the day of the tragic accident, his brother Frédéric turned 46 years old. Hence the number of bottles bottled from this malt, which is a tribute to Mama. The label, full of symbolism, is beautiful. The contents of the bottle are unusual to say the least, as it is a young malt from Israel that matured on an Orange Wine Cask – the first of its kind at cask strength. Mark took the bottle with him to New York.

Whisky Wednesday Reviews Turntable Whiskies, Paradise Funk – Scotch Whisky News

https://youtu.be/k5uT4cwn-kY

Turntable Sprits: Paradise Funk!

We had a lovely little session with Turntable Spirits a few months ago, and now they’re back with their core range of blended whiskies.

Paradise Funk is an interesting blend of:

30% Unamed Speyside Virgin Oak

20% Benrinnes Chinkapin Oak

18% Invergordon Ex-Cognac Oak

13% Knockdhu Virgin Oak

11% North British Virgin Oak

8% Blair Athol Ex-Bourbon Oak

These barrel influences already give a huge insight into what this liquid is all about mango, peach, fruit syrups, all topped off by indulgent toffee popcorn. I’m a huge fan of virgin oak maturation on all whisky types, they don’t always work, but this is a must have for Scottish whisky and Bourbon whisky fans.

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 502: Royal Salute 21 Year Old The Peated Blend – Scotch Whisky News

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 502: Royal Salute 21 Year Old The Peated Blend

Mark Dermul, Belgian whiskyblogger, tries a blend… but a rather grand one. Royal Salute was created at the time to celebrate the coronation of Elizabeth II. It is a reference to the ceremonial cannon shots fired from the Tower of London. Several versions of the Royal Salute have already come on the market. For this special edition ‘The Peated Blend’ malts were also used that are no longer produced, namely Imperial and Caperdonich.
