Whisky Wednesday Reviews Aberfeldy 15YO Cadillac Wine Finish – Scotch Whisky News

Aberfeldy 15YO Cadillac Wine Finish, 43%

https://youtu.be/87GXn5hTPU0

A review of the Aberfeldy 15 year old Cadillac French Wine cask finish single malt scotch whisky.

Sweet wine/dessert wines tend to have one key focus, that being Sauternes and Chateau’s such as D’yquem pull in all of the attention. However, the use of this style of sweet wine, Cadillac, introduces some deeper and more powerful flavours to what Aberfeldy can offer. Aberfeldy is typically a buttery, tropical, honeyed style of highland single malt, and still is. The influences of different styles of barrel on this spirit are rather impressive to see whilst still retaining its house profile.

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 552: Cley Moscatel vs Secret Isle of Mull Cask – Dutch Whisky News

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 552: Cley Moscatel vs Secret Isle of Mull Cask

Mark Dermul, Belgian whisky blogger, tries two single casks of Dutch whisky.  In September 2024, Paul and Maria from the Cley Distillery in Rotterdam bottled two 5-year-old single malts. The first matured in a cask that previously held Moscatel; the second underwent 3 years of maturation in a classic bourbon cask, followed by a finish in a cask from the Tobermory Distillery. Fascinating and undoubtedly very different. Mark is please to put them head-to-head.

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 551: Ben Nevis 3 Year Old 2021 for Klubb23 – Double Trouble

Mark Dermul, Belgian whisky blogger, tries two very young, peated Ben Nevis releases. Recently, Ben Nevis started producing peated malt again. Belgian bottler Klubb23 was eager to find out how that tastes and selected two sister casks – octaves 85 and 86, but both quite different. One is an Ex-blended malt octave, the other an ex-Caol Ila Oloroso octave. Oh, my! Now Mark is eager to find out as well.
