Whisky Wednesday Reviews Rare Find Dailuaine 15YO – Scotch Whisky News
Rare Find Dailuaine 15YO
White wine cask finished Dailuaine?
It’s not a very typical sentence in the whisky world, but one we’re currently working with.
I bought this nearly a year ago on holiday. Buying whisky online whilst lounging the pool is quite a nice feeling. But, this one came with its quirks.
My first sip of it wasn’t my favourite. But overtime this has opened up into a very chocolate, fudget, nutty style of whisky – those notes alone aren’t very Dailuaine, but the pepper driven spice and dryness that comes out at the end of this liquid is something very different.
This was an impulse purchase, I don’t regret it. But I was hoping for a very different style of whisky to what I actually got.
Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 539: Johnnie Walker Black Label Highland Origin vs Islay Origin – Scotch Whisky News

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 539: Johnnie Walker Black Label Highland Origin vs Islay Origin
Mark Dermul, Belgian whiskyblogger, tries two different Black Label expressions. Diageo has invested heavily in recent years in some of the visitor centres of its distilleries. Glenkinchie became the Lowland Home of Johnnie Walker, Cardhu the Speyside Home of Johnnie Walker, Clynelish the Highland Home of Johnnie Walker, and finally Caol Ila the Islay Home of Johnnie Walker. To mark the occasion, four special editions of their flagship – the Johnnie Walker Black Label – were released in the Origin series. Mark tries two of them, namely the Highland Origin and the Islay Origin

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 538: Glen Moray 15 Year Old 2007 Thompson Bros – Scotch Whisky News

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 538: Glen Moray 15 Year Old 2007 Thompson Bros
Mark Dermul, Belgian whiskyblogger, tries his 40th Glen Moray. His buddy John is an absolute globetrotter. When he visited Mark last year, he brought a bottling of Thompson Bros that is not available in Mark’s neck of the woods, because this is a UK Exclusive. It is a Glen Moray from 2007 that matured in a first fill bourbon barrel.

Whisky Wednesday Reviews Ardnamurchan Sauternes Cask – Scotch Whisky News
Ardnamurchan Sauternes Cask, 50%
It’s fair to say that Ardnamurchan has very much conquered my heart, my whisky heart anyway.
I’m not a Sauternes cask kind of guy, but if they release it, I’ll buy it.
Matured in refill American oak casks that have previously held Sauternes Wine – this liquid is soaked on apricots, marzipan, fresh melon, and some biting coastal salt and pepper.
I do like this. It is fun. It may not have fully won me over to the side of Sauternes, but it’s the nicest example of the cask type that I’ve experienced.
Fair play again to Ardnamurchan!
