ralfy review 1101 Extras – Parafilm Problems. – Scotch Whisky News

Parafilm is a semi-transparent, flexible, and stretchy laboratory film used to seal containers like test tubes, beakers, and petri dishes. It is a blend of waxes and polyolefins that is self-sealing, waterproof, and moisture-resistant, yet also gas-permeable. This makes it ideal for preserving samples and preventing spills or evaporation in scientific labs.

Whisky Wednesday Reviews Meikle Toir Turbo 2025 – Scotch Whisky News

Meikle Toir Turbo 2025, 50%

THE VIDEO

One of the dirtiest tasting whiskies I’ve ever come across. A single malt that is heavy with miso, soy, salt, maple, pecan, apricots and all of the Christmas spices that we expect to pop through at this time of year.

Not only does it have massive complexity, intrigue, and a unique approach to capturing this special style of distillate, it’s also extremely sought after. Making the demand for this whisky up there with Springbank and other small batch release products. Does that make this years release feel a little flat compared to last years, or even the previous one?

I do feel a little underwhelmed by this years release, it’s not that it’s bad, far from it – but it’s the pedestal we can put hard to find whiskies on the first time we try them.

There’s no doubt that this is an excellent single malt with a score that I’ll always stand by, but I think we’re all getting tired of the ‘hard to find’ factor now. Even if this one is genuinely small, genuinely deserving of its praise and is genuinely tasty – I think we’re all just a little tired.

Whisky Wednesday Reviews Glen Scotia Icons of Campbeltown #3 – Scotch Whisky News

Glen Scotia Icons of Campbeltown #3, 51.7%

THE REVIEW

They always say that the third release of anything is the trickiest. Well, it seems that Glen Scotia have taken that phrase and thrown it out of the window. Icons of Campbeltown Release 3 is a 12-year-old single malt, mostly matured in ex-bourbon casks, finished in Tawny Port barrels for a maximum of 9 months. What has this resulted in? A single malt whisky that is dense with chocolate, hazelnuts, jammy Vimto fruits and all of the coastal Campbeltown saltiness that you could ever want.

I’ve sadly never tried the previous releases, but they’ve always had an incredible reputation behind them, so this tricky third release has very much quashed that saying with ease. Glen Scotia are not shy to experiment with their cask finishing prowess, and this is a massive indication of that. Big shoutout to The Whiskey Wash for sending this bottle over to me to review. Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 579: Ledaig 27 Year Old 1995 Berry Bros & Rudd – Scotch Whisky News

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 579: Ledaig 27 Year Old 1995 Berry Bros & Rudd

Mark Dermul, Belgian whisky blogger, tries a rather old Ledaig. Recently, he attended a tasting by Care for Craft Spirits in Ghent, in the coziest tapas bar in the city, Bar Terroir, where none other than Mike Harrison, Sales Development Director of independent bottler Berry Brothers & Rudd, presented some bottles. One of the highlights of the evening for Mark was this 27-year-old Ledaig. Distilled in 1995 and aged for almost three decades in a hogshead, the cask yielded 224 bottles.
