Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 325: Springbank 10 Year Old – Scotch Whisky News

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 325: Springbank 10 Year Old

Mark Dermul, Belgian whisky vlogger, travels to Campbeltown! Springbank is – together with Glengyle and Glen Scotia – one of the last surviving distilleries on Campbeltown and is unique as it produces three types of malt: peaty Springbank, heavily peated Longrow and unpeated Hazelburn. The entry level Springbank is their 10 years old, of which I will try a release from 2005, meaning that the malt has spent more time in the bottle than it did in the wooden casks.

Whisky Wednesday – Angel’s Envy Port Cask Finish Review – American Whiskey News

As a Bourbon fan, I was ashamed to say that I had never heard of Lincoln Henderson. This man is influential in Bourbon on a level that is unprecedented. This is part of his legacy, now run by his children and grandchildren, a genuine small batch (8-12 casks) with a Ruby Port cask finish, it’s a fine example of pure buttery slickness with wonderfully, gentle drying spices. A masterpiece that is relatable regarding its rarity.

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 324: Rowan’s Creek Straight Kentucky Bourbon – American Whiskey News

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 324: Rowan’s Creek Straight Kentucky Bourbon

Mark Dermul, Belgian whisky vlogger, tries an American whiskey. Rowan’s Creek is a small batch bourbon that is produced by the Kentucky Bourbon Distillers company in Bardstown, Kentucky. It has won top awards at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and is bottled at 100.1 Proof, which translates into the rather odd 50.05% ABV. Takes some time to open up, but then reveals itself to be feisty and complex.

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 323: Sazerac Rye – American Whiskey News

Mark’s Whisky Ramblings 323: Sazerac Rye

Mark Dermul, Belgian whisky vlogger, tries a rye whiskey. Sazerac has a lot of meanings. It is the name of a big spirits company, the name of America’s First cocktail and, most interesting for us, the name of a straight rye whiskey. Supposedly, the name comes from a French importer of cognacs, Sazerac du Forge et Fils. In New Orleans, in the famous French Quarter, there is still a Sazerac Coffee House. The company Sazerac owns, among others, the Buffalo Trace distillery, where this rye whiskey is produced today.
