Whisky Wednesday Reviews Isle of Raasay Single Malt 46.4% – Scotch Whisky News

I got to try a small sample of their Innaugral Release and was blown away by how good it was. As soon as I saw the first standard bottling available, click, bought, shipped, opened.

Utilising Bordeaux casks, Rye casks and Chinkapin Virgin Oak. Tbis first Raasay release is loaded with excitement from barrel influences and the fact it’s peated add even more depth to an already exciting new release.

Much like Ardnamurchan, this is a west coast, albeit, Island based distillery that we should all pay attention to. It reminds me of Ledaig…and that’s only a great thing. But it deserves to shine on its own merits, outside of comparison.

Whisky Wednesday Reviews Bowmore 18YO Feis Ile 51.8% – Scotch Whisky News

https://youtu.be/YPefAN7h4H0

When something of this calibre is released, I like to try my hardest to get one. Second time was a charm with this one!

Cask strength Bowmore is a truly remarkable thing. Yeah, it’s just a liquid…I get that. But for whisky drinkers, admirers, just fans as a whole, cask strength Bowmore is the highest of the high. I’ve never been disappointed by any official or independent bottlings of the stuff.

Released for Feis Ile 2021, this 18YO is packed with chocolate orange, pine, soft smoke, a huge finish and many reminders of how remarkable Bowmore can be. It’s overshadowed by other Islay distilleries who may release bigger, more powerful versions of their whiskies on a regualr basis. But when Bowmore do it, they hit all of the right notes. Exceptional.

Mark Dermul, Belgian whisky blogger, tries an undisclosed Highlander. The boys and girls from Belgian bottler Liquid Art have selected their next cask and this time it is one from the Highlands. And while they are not at liberty to divulge whence it came, Mark can tell you that the Brora Golf Club is just a 20 minute stroll away from the warehouse where this cask was laid down.
