SAZERAC RYE WHISKEY FULL PROOF JOINS THE BUFFALO TRACE DISTILLERY PORTFOLIO – American Whiskey News

SAZERAC RYE WHISKEY FULL PROOF JOINS THE BUFFALO TRACE DISTILLERY PORTFOLIO

Born from the Distillery’s newly completed $1.2 billion expansion, this release elevates Sazerac Rye’s signature spice and pepper profile to deliver a sipping whiskey of remarkable intensity

FRANKFORT, KY – Buffalo Trace Distillery is proud to introduce Sazerac Rye Whiskey Full Proof as a permanent addition to its growing Sazerac Rye portfolio. Bottled at 125 proof, this bold new release emerges from the Distillery’s recent expansion and amplifies the brand’s signature spicy, peppery, and dry profile to create a sipping whiskey with remarkable intensity.

Born out of the spirit of New Orleans, Sazerac Rye Whiskey captures the character of the city: bold, timeless, and unapologetically original. The brand has evolved from a bartender’s best-kept secret into a connoisseur’s staple, with the original 90 proof and the recently launched 100 proof expressions celebrated for their distinctive spice and dry complexity. The addition of Full Proof offers a full-bodied expression crafted for sipping and savoring, highlighting the versatility of Sazerac Rye while reflecting Buffalo Trace Distillery’s commitment to delivering exceptional whiskey experiences for enthusiasts at every stage of their rye journey.

“Rye whiskey is the perfect next step for whiskey drinkers looking for more flavor. Sazerac Rye’s unique, balanced, Kentucky-style recipe makes it the brand whiskey drinkers have trusted for years,” says Andrew Duncan, Global Brand Director at Buffalo Trace Distillery. “Sazerac Rye Full Proof amplifies the brand’s floral notes of vanilla and clove, along with fruity hints of orange, with just a touch of pepper, proving that rye whiskeys aren’t just great in cocktails—they shine on their own.”

A result of Buffalo Trace Distillery’s $1.2 billion expansion, Sazerac Rye Whiskey Full Proof continues the Distillery’s legacy of innovation and craftsmanship. The addition of new still houses and enhanced distilling capacity enables great production of its core bourbon and rye whiskeys, while also exploring bolder proofs and distinctive flavor profiles that push tradition forward.

“We’re excited to bring another full proof option to fans after they’ve expressed their love for our W.L. Weller and Benchmark full proof offerings,” remarks Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley. “Our expansion is ten years in the making, and it’s rewarding to see how it’s already allowing us to create more of these whiskeys while maintaining the quality our fans expect.”

Sazerac Rye Whiskey Full Proof opens with bold aromas of rye spice, fresh dill, and smoky oak, immediately signaling its intensity and depth. On the palate, it delivers a surprisingly smooth sweetness up front, followed by floral and herbal notes, supported by rich oak and classic rye grain character throughout. The finish is lightly peppery with a late rye spice that gently lingers, presenting warmth and complexity without being overwhelming.

Sazerac Whiskey Rye Full Proof will be available in select markets beginning November 2025 at select retailers, bars, and restaurants for a suggested retail price of $39.99 per 750ML bottle (taxes and fees vary by market) via Sazerac’s United States distributor networks.

Additionally, Buffalo Trace Distillery will celebrate the new release with a limited-time premium tasting experience from Friday, November 14, through Sunday, November 16, featuring the complete Sazerac Rye Whiskey portfolio: Sazerac Rye 90, 100, and Full Proof, as well as Sazerac Rye 18-Year-Old from the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection. A $10 ticket to the “Sazerac Rye Vertical Tasting” includes samples of all four expressions, a commemorative Sazerac Rye glass, and a small bite pairing. Tickets are available for purchase at buffalotracedistillery.com/visit-us.html on a first-come, first-served basis.

Grasmere Distillery Launches The Pioneers Club – Scotch Whisky News

Grasmere Distillery Launches The Pioneers Club

Grasmere Distillery is delighted to announce the launch of The Pioneers Club, inviting whisky enthusiasts to secure a rare opportunity: ownership of the first three releases of the distillery’s inaugural English single malt whisky.

Limited to just 1,000 bottles per year, Pioneers Club members will receive a uniquely numbered, gift-boxed bottle each Christmas, with the first in 2027, the second in 2028 and the final bottle in 2029. Every annual release will be drawn from one of only six casks being released that year. Over a third of the memberships have already gone, so interested parties should act quickly to secure their spot.

Each whisky expression produced by Grasmere Distillery showcases its dedication to flavour. By exploring varied mash bills, fermentation styles and barley varieties, and then marrying the spirit through a distinctive Solera maturation system using charred oak casks, the distillery team has achieved remarkable depth and consistency across its whiskies.

Membership of The Pioneers Club costs £335. Alongside their three-year allocation of limited-release single malt, members will also receive a complimentary bottle of the distillery’s award-winning, single-origin Rioja cask rum, set for public release in 2026 (RRP £45). Additional benefits include a lifetime 10% discount at the Grasmere Tap Room, a free distillery tour for the member plus three guests, priority access to future limited-edition whiskies, and a range of exclusive member privileges.

Over the past three years, co-founders Paul and Beth Abbott have transformed two modest barns on the shores of Grasmere into one of the UK’s smallest and most characterful distilleries. Following an intensive development process that began in 2021, the pair launched Grasmere Gin and Grasmere Vodka in 2022, reinvesting revenues from their white spirits to expand production and begin distilling their first single malt whisky.

From day one, their aim has been clear: to craft whisky defined by flavour, not scale. The team distils from full-flavoured beer rather than neutral spirit, allowing them to experiment freely with diverse grains, yeast strains, and cask seasonings rarely explored by larger producers.

Casks are sourced from Speyside Cooperage and include classics such as ex-bourbon, brandy, and red wine, alongside a series of innovative casks seasoned in-house with Grasmere Rum and cider. Oak is a balance of French, American, Scottish, and English oak.

Paul Abbott, co-founder and head distiller, commented: “We have been amazed by the positive response: hundreds of people backing us and cheering us on, joining our Pioneers Club in just the first two weeks. It is incredible. We are a tiny startup distillery without big resources, so we rely totally on the whisky-lovers out there to help us bring our single malt to the market. The Pioneers Club represents the very beginning of our whisky journey. We wanted to offer something unique to those brave few who have supported us from the start. Every bottle reflects our commitment to flavour, craftsmanship and curiosity. We’re excited to share these first releases with people who value small-batch whisky.”

GLENFIDDICH UNVEILS GLENFIDDICH XS – Scotch Whisky News

GLENFIDDICH UNVEILS GLENFIDDICH XS

Marking a bold new chapter in the Glenfiddich story, family-owned distiller, William Grant & Sons introduces Glenfiddich XS — a luxurious collection of three single malt Scotch whiskies. Crafted for moments of meaningful connection, this new expression from the world’s most awarded single malt is elevated by hand-selected sherry cask finishes to reveal extra layers of richness. Launching first in China in November 2025, Glenfiddich XS is a collection defined by depth and character revealed over time.

Created under the masterful eye of world-renowned Malt Master Brian Kinsman, Glenfiddich XS takes the exceptional Glenfiddich single malts aged 15, 18, and 21 years, each finished in carefully selected Oloroso, Moscatel and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Each expression delivers a unique flavour profile that retains the signature vibrancy of Glenfiddich whilst revealing new and surprising depths of flavours.

Designed for celebrating moments of progress, Glenfiddich XS heralds an era of elevated whisky drinking occasions that connect with purposeful enjoyment. Rooted in Glenfiddich’s signature profile, this new Glenfiddich XS collection aims to provoke the senses through enhanced maturation.

Brian Kinsman, Glenfiddich Malt Master, comments

“Glenfiddich XS is a whisky of gradual and powerful revelation.  An exciting whisky that invites exploration and is designed to mark richer experiences. The multi-layered secondary maturation has created a subtle and sophisticated taste that unveils new depths to the liquid profile.

“Glenfiddich XS is a whisky crafted with a new generation of whisky drinkers in mind, where whisky rituals and drinking moments are being reinvented to mark special moments and meaningful connection.”

The collection begins with GLENFIDDICH XS Fifteen-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky. This expression takes Glenfiddich’s signature Speyside style and enhances it with an indulgent Oloroso sherry cask finish. Matured for fifteen years in a select combination of American and European oak casks, this whisky offers a sprightly balance of soft green apple notes, with warming cinnamon. Layers of light spice and gentle oak sweetness add depth and vibrancy making this a refined and refreshing expression.

GLENFIDDICH XS Eighteen-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky builds on the richness of the collection with added complexity. A harmonious marriage of American and European oak casks is elevated by a rare Moscatel sherry cask finish, imparting bold, velvety full-bodied flavours. Fragrant, caramelised fruit, treacle toffee, raisins and dried apricot weave together for a layered, evolving and balanced character.

GLENFIDDICH XS Twenty-One-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the pinnacle of the range, defined by its exquisite depth, opulence and complexity. Matured in American oak and Oloroso sherry casks before a final flourish in rare Pedro Ximénez casks, it delivers woody spice and sun-dried dates and figs, underpinned by full-bodied layers of complex oak. This is a whisky of depth and richness to be savoured slowly, with each sip revealing further character shaped across two decades of craft.

Charlie Maclean, MBE and Master of the Quaich comments,

“All three expressions surprised me.  Finishing in different styles of sherry-seasoned casks has given each whisky a greater depth of character an added dimension and complexity, while not masking the original character of the distillate. By design, the sherry influence is subtle and understated.”

A showcase of Glenfiddich’s leadership within global luxury whisky, The Glenfiddich XS collection debuts with a design that fuses timeless heritage with modern elegance. The refreshed Glenfiddich stag and wordmark embody craft, depth and confident presence, encased within a re-designed box adorned with gold accents and ribbon detail. Together, these elements elevate Glenfiddich into a contemporary symbol of luxury with enduring global resonance.

Dave Broom, Founder of The Whisky Manual comments;

“Using a base of mature stock aged in both ex-sherry and ex-American oak casks then finished in either Oloroso, Moscatel or Pedro Ximénez, three different expressions of the distillery’s character are shown. Its base of fresh apple and grass, the chocolate note which develops over time; its ability to absorb flavour while retaining an energy that allows it to continue to evolve over decades. This is a welcome extension to the Glenfiddich range which will hopefully introduce its qualities to a new audience.”

Crafted for elevated moments of connection, Glenfiddich XS reveals a richer, deeper character that honour Glenfiddich’s celebration of lasting success.

Heaven Hill Brands Marks 90 Years with a Renewed Commitment to People, Partners, Communities, and Beloved Spirits – American Whiskey News

Heaven Hill Brands Marks 90 Years with a Renewed Commitment to People, Partners, Communities, and Beloved Spirits

BARDSTOWN, KY (December 12, 2025) — Heaven Hill Brands, the largest independent family owned and led distilled spirits company of brands in the United States, celebrates its 90th anniversary on Dec.13, 2025 with a look back at a defining legacy and a clear view of the decades ahead. On Friday the 13th in 1935, the founders opened their doors with no brands, no inventory, and no stock. From that unlikely start grew a leading global supplier shaped by generational stewardship, trusted relationships, and a portfolio of consumer-beloved spirits.

For ninety years, Heaven Hill’s story has been rooted in people and a belief that success is something built together. That spirit underpins the company’s Thriving Together platform, introduced this year as part of the organization’s refreshed corporate brand. The platform reflects the same values that carried the company from the Great Depression era to the modern spirits landscape with connection, craftsmanship, and a commitment to quality.

“What stands out after ninety years is the character of the people who built this place,” said Max L. Shapira, Executive Chairman. “Every generation brought its own strengths, but the through line has always been integrity and hard work. We’re committed to keeping that spirit alive.”

“Our new identity helps us tell that story more clearly,” said Kate Latts, Co-President. “It captures the pride our teams bring to their work and the trust our partners place in us, but it also brings forward our mission to enhance the enjoyment of life and our vision to thrive together for generations. It’s a unifying moment at a time when connection truly matters.”

As the family describes it, December 13 is “just a date on the calendar.” What matters is the trajectory ahead and the shared work that continues to define Heaven Hill’s future.

A Year Defined by Milestones

The anniversary year has been marked by a series of milestones that underscore the company’s momentum. Alongside the refreshed corporate identity, this summer, the company opened its new Louisville corporate office, a space designed to bring teams together and strengthen collaboration. The launch of the new corporate website followed, offering a unified digital presence that showcases Heaven Hill’s brands, history, and values. Spirit Week, celebrated across all sites, brought employees together under the Thriving Together banner through education, recognition, and community engagement.

Heaven Hill also celebrated the commissioning and grand opening of the new Heaven Hill Springs Distillery, a generational investment that strengthens long-term growth and production resilience.

Industry Recognition

Heaven Hill’s progress is reflected in standout recognition across whiskey, tequila, vodka, tourism, responsibility, and corporate leadership. Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Rye was named Whisky Advocate’s 2025 Whisky of the Year, the first rye to earn the publication’s top honor and a historic moment for the category. The company was also named the Most Awarded U.S. Distillery at the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition for the second consecutive year, earning more than 90 medals across its portfolio. Heaven Hill was additionally recognized by StateWays Magazine as the 2025 Spirits Supplier of the Year, celebrating exceptional growth, innovation, and resilience across the portfolio. Further distinctions included Social Achievement of the Year from the Global Drinks Intel ESG Awards and a second consecutive Best Managed Company designation.

Across the agave portfolio, Tequila Ocho continued to earn distinction as one of the most respected additive-free tequilas in the world, celebrated for its transparency, terroir leadership, and single-estate craftsmanship. Lunazul Tequila reached a major growth milestone, surpassing 2 million cases with a clear path toward 2.5 million in 2026. Both brands were also recognized by StateWays on the Fastest-Growing Growth Brands list, underscoring Heaven Hill’s accelerating strength in the agave category.

Within American Whiskey, Old Fitzgerald introduced its new 7-Year-Old Bottled-in-Bond signature expression, reintroducing the brand’s iconic “Key to Hospitality” for a new generation of drinkers. Heaven Hill’s extensive Bottled-in-Bond portfolio continued to distinguish the company as the leading steward of one of America’s most historic quality standards. The company’s visitor centers welcomed more than 300,000 guests this year, reflecting sustained interest in Heaven Hill’s heritage, hospitality, and award-winning tourism experiences. Deep Eddy Vodka sustained strong consumer momentum, including the introduction of Deep Eddy Pineapple, which expanded the brand’s approachable flavor portfolio and reinforced its position as one of the most vibrant and trusted American vodkas in the market.

A Landmark Year of Community Impact

This year also introduced 90 for 90, a companywide initiative inviting employees to donate ninety minutes of service in their communities. The response grew far beyond that starting point. More than 1,099 employees contributed over 9,098 volunteer hours across 26 charities, supporting programs ranging from youth education to food security. Teams organized technology tours for underserved students, rallied with Kroger and Dare to Care to help create 659,866 meals for families in need, and partnered with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits to raise more than $34,000 for the ALS Association Rocky Mountains in honor of Parker Beam. Employees also stepped up for Bike MS, Texas flood relief, and grassroots organizations in West Louisville, reinforcing the company’s commitment to being a spirited neighbor. Combined with employee giving and corporate contributions, Heaven Hill and its people supported more than 100 charities this year, underscoring the depth and reach of Heaven Hill’s community impact.

Louisville Business First recognized that commitment, ranking Heaven Hill No. 2 for employee volunteerism and No. 13 for corporate giving in this year’s Partners in Philanthropy awards. Spirit Week Community Day exemplified that spirit in action, as more than 400 employees generated more than $35,500 in single-day impact through food donations and back-to-school initiatives across several communities.

Looking Ahead

Heaven Hill’s long-term investments, from distillation capacity to community partnerships, reflect the company’s confidence in what lies ahead and, in the people, building its future.

“As an independent, family-led company, we have the privilege of thinking in decades, not quarters,” said Allan Latts, Co-President. “Ninety years in, we’re energized by the possibilities ahead, new consumers, new markets, new stories to tell, and guided by the values that brought us here.”

Rounding out the year, the company introduced a special 9-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon to commemorate the 90th anniversary, crafted from barrels laid down on the 80th anniversary and blended to showcase the depth, character, and tradition that define Heaven Hill. Heaven Hill will continue commemorating the 90th anniversary with employee celebrations, partner engagements, and storytelling moments that honor both the company’s past and the people shaping its next chapter.

Roaming Road Spirits Roams Into UK, European Markets With Unique Single-Cask Offerings – Whisky News

Roaming Road Spirits Roams Into UK, European Markets With Unique Single-Cask Offerings

The Roaming Road motto of “We Go Where the Spirit Takes Us” leads brand founder Mike Gilmore overseas as an American independent bottler with a global view

DUBLIN, IRELAND – It started as an idea – bring to American drinkers a unique value proposition of specialized single-cask, cask strength offerings tracked down through hard work, personal relationships and an authentic desire to offer the finest expressions chosen for singular character and provenance. It is through this filter that American independent bottler Roaming Road Spirits, the personal passion project turned international success story of founder Mike Gilmore, finds itself on a truly global trajectory in bringing its mission of “We Go Where the Spirit Takes Us” to new international markets.

The Roaming Road Spirits journey, started in the United States in 2024, found Mike developing a highly enthusiastic following for his ability to discover and bring to market the finest in single-cask and Irish Whiskeys.  Taking an approach not common to the American market, he intentionally chose to avoid domestically releasing some of the finest Bourbon and Rye Whiskey casks from Kentucky and Indiana that he found. While he had built his reputation prior to Roaming Road by tracking down these types of American Whiskeys for a liquor store he owned, the timing didn’t feel right to do this same approach when he launched his brand.

Mike Gilmore of Roaming Road Spirits

“I didn’t want to just release another Bourbon or Rye,” said Mike. “I wanted to create something that carried their American soul across the ocean and gave it an Irish voice.”

With that in mind, and having found American success with its single-cask offerings, Roaming Road Spirits made the bold decision to take its same philosophy abroad. To this end, Mike brought the brand to Whiskey Live Dublin, where its newest offerings, Kentucky and Indiana Bourbon and Rye Whiskeys finished in Single Malt Irish Whiskey casks on the coast of Ireland with age statements ranging up to 10 years, were met with great enthusiasm. This transatlantic marriage of flavor – rich, full-bodied American Bourbon and Rye with a subtle, maritime-influenced Irish character – helped set the stage for pouring these expressions at the annual July 4th celebration hosted by the U.S. Embassy in Dublin, and held at the US Ambassador’s Residence, for 2,000 people. Since then, Roaming Road has become available throughout Ireland, including a prominent placement in the Shannon Airport Duty Free Shop.

Keeping this dual “whiskey cultures” approach in mind, Roaming Road has entered into the United Kingdom market by taking a similar approach in Scotland, where it is in the early stages of introducing Kentucky and Indiana Bourbon and Rye Whiskey finished in Single Malt Scotch casks sourced from various Scotch whisky–producing regions and distilleries. Ranging from the smoky depth of Islay to the rich, sherried influence of Speyside and the elegant malt-driven notes of the Highlands, cask-strength bottlings that capture the diversity of Scotland’s whisky heritage, while preserving the bold, cask-strength foundation of American whiskey, promise to bring to new fans distinct regional characteristics.

“It was never part of the plan for Roaming Road to go beyond Ireland,” noted MIke, “but the interest from other whiskey nations—places like Scotland wanting to connect through their own cask heritage—opened a new and exciting chapter we never expected.”

Looking to further horizons, the brand is excited to be bringing its single-cask philosophy to wider European markets, including Poland, Slovenia, and future sights set on France, Germany, and the Netherlands. Mike is also exploring future collaborations in Japan, where he plans to finish American whiskey in rare Mizunara oak casks.

From America’s heartland to the Irish coast and beyond, Roaming Road has truly embraced its “We Go Where The Spirit Takes Us” mission. We invite you to join us.

About Roaming Road

Roaming Road Spirits is not just a brand; it’s a philosophy. With a unique and adventurous motto,” We Go Where The Spirit Takes Us,” Founder Mike Gilmore has built a highly-regarded brand that constantly searches for the best single-cask spirits, regardless of geographical boundaries. This passion project of Mike’s is not about highlighting every barrel selection out there but about identifying those of the highest quality that fit his mission. This distinct point of view gives Roaming Road unparalleled access to an extremely deep and ever-growing catalog of expressions, inviting you to join in the adventure.

HISTORIC CASTLETOWN MILL RESTORED AS A NEW WHISKY DISTILLERY

A new whisky venture from the founders of Dunnet Bay Distillers, producers of award-winning Rock Rose Gin, marks completion of a landmark restoration.
The Mill, which attracted the attention of King Charles, has been carefully converted into the home of Stannergill Whisky.

The long-awaited restoration of Castletown Mill, one of the most iconic historic landmarks on Scotland’s north coast, has officially been completed. To celebrate this milestone, its founders Dunnet Bay Distillers, have launched a crowdfunding campaign inviting whisky fans and enthusiasts of Scottish heritage to become part of the next chapter in the story of this northern landmark.

Castletown Mill, a former grain mill had lain unused for decades, prompting King Charles to express a desire for its preservation in 2007 as it grew increasingly derelict. Now sympathetically restored, the mill hosts the newly established Stannergill Distillery, along with a restaurant and shop, becoming a key new attraction in Caithness and on the North Coast 500 route.

With the distillery now completed, a crowdfunding campaign is being launched to encourage the local community, the Caithness diaspora and whisky enthusiasts to become part of the next step of the growth of Stannergill Distillery. It will help fund the construction of a new maturation warehouse and support the expansion of the team. In return, members will gain access to exclusive Stannergill experiences and limited-edition releases.

Crafted in the heart of the Northern Highlands, this coastal single malt is inspired by the refined elegance of a classic Speyside spirit, yet enriched by invigorating maritime influences. Each sip will deliver a vibrant orchard fruit and vanilla bouquet, layered with honeyed sweetness and subtle spice. The brisk North Sea air imparts a delicate salinity and mineral freshness, elevating the whisky’s complexity and lending a unique coastal character to its long, smooth finish. Born of pure Highland spring water and matured overlooking rugged northern shores, this spirit is both robust and approachable – a true embodiment of the Scottish Highlands’ untamed beauty and tradition.

Martin Murray, Founder of Dunnet Bay Distillers, said: “I’ve driven past the Mill for more than 25 years and always dreamed of bringing it back to life. Back in 2008, I enquired about purchasing it with a view to restoring it to a whisky distillery. It wasn’t possible at the time, but I didn’t let go of the idea and, although it’s taken nearly two decades, it’s great to see this idea finally become reality.  The setting and building couldn’t be better suited – it’s a perfect location for whisky-making and for welcoming visitors, with the main tourist road passing running right past the front gate.”
“Reaching this stage is an important step for us. The Mill is now ready to showcase the very best of Caithness. The crowdfunding campaign marks the start of an exciting new phase, as we continue to invest in local talent, expand production, and build a ideal destination for whisky tourism. We welcome others to join us on this journey.”

Co-founder Claire added: “This project represents more than whisky – it’s about bringing people together and giving new life to a place that means so much to the community. From the very beginning, we wanted Stannergill to reflect the history and character of this place. The Mill’s restoration shows what can be achieved with shared vision and care for heritage.”

The project has been designed by Organic Architects, Scottish specialists in distillery projects, who worked in consultation with Historic Environment Scotland and Highland Council to keep the site’s heritage and character. Local contractor, Norbloc Construction brought the design to life, delivering a high-quality build while supporting local employment throughout the project.

The distillery’s bar, tours and tastings are set to launch by Easter 2026, giving visitors an immersive insight into whisky-making.
