Buffalo Trace Distillery Announces Limited Release Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel in the U.S. – American Whiskey News

Buffalo Trace Distillery Announces Limited Release

Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel in the U.S.

FRANKFORT, Franklin County, Ky (Aug. 27, 2020) For Blanton’s fans, Buffalo Trace Distillery is making Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel available in the United States this fall.  This announcement follows Buffalo Trace Distillery announcing earlier this year that Blanton’s Gold Edition will be available annually in the United States, starting in summer 2020.

Like Blanton’s Gold Edition, Straight From The Barrel will be limited, and released once every year in the U.S. This is the first time Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel has been made available in the U.S. It joins Blanton’s Original Single Barrel, bottled at 93 proof and the aforementioned Blanton’s Gold Edition, bottled at 103 proof.

As its name suggests, Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel is an uncut, unfiltered bourbon.  The recipe is the same as Blanton’s Original and Blanton’s Gold, but the proof will vary from barrel to barrel.

“Blanton’s continues to be one of our most sought after bourbons,” said Kris Comstock, senior marketing director. “Fans in the U.S. have asked us to make Straight From The Barrel available here at home, so we’re happy we’re able to accommodate that starting this fall.”

Like the other two in the Blanton’s stable, Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel showcases a horse and jockey atop its stopper, in various poses to emulate the running of a horse race. The eight different horse and jockey stoppers feature a letter that collectors save to spell out the brand name “B-L-A-N-T-O-N-S.”

Tasting notes for Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel describe it as notes of dark chocolate, caramel and butter with earthy undertones of walnut and hazelnut on the nose.  The palate delivers intrepid notes of warm vanilla, oak, toasted nuts and a rich spiciness with hints of butterscotch or honey, with a deep and resonate finish.

Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon, the world’s first single barrel bourbon, was created in 1984 by Elmer T. Lee. Named after former distillery president Colonel Albert B. Blanton, Elmer recalled how Colonel Blanton would handpick “honey barrels” from the center cut of Warehouse H for the many parties Blanton held.  Many years later, the Distillery called upon Elmer to create a new bourbon in 1984 and Blanton’s was born – the world’s first single barrel bourbon.

Today, Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon is one of the most revered and award-winning bourbons on the market.  Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel will start shipping from Buffalo Trace Distillery this fall on a very limited basis.  Suggested retail pricing is $150.  For more information on Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel visit www.blantonsbourbon.com.

Irish Distillers Launches Grow Your Own Cocktail Web Series for Bartenders – Irish Whiskey News

Irish Distillers Launches Grow Your Own Cocktail Web Series for Bartenders

Global bartender platform ‘Jameson Hosts’ brings to life their global ‘Grow Your Own Cocktail’ web series with new videos and cocktail inspiration from around the world

Bartenders are encouraged to join the global movement and combine local resources and ingredients with Jameson for the chance to win a cash prize

Jameson Irish Whiskey, produced by Irish Distillers in Midleton Distillery, has launched a Grow Your Own Cocktail web series to promote local sourcing, collaboration and discovery among bartenders and local producers around the world.

Last year, the Jameson team brought bartenders, local farmers and producers together in communities across the globe to encourage mixologists to create locally inspired cocktails. The Jameson team captured all of their adventures, which fans can now enjoy as a six-part web series. The series will feature episodes from Dubai, Tel Aviv, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, Stockholm and Cork, home to Irish Distillers’ Midleton Distillery, to educate and inspire the global bar community to use local and uniquely sourced ingredients.

Since the Grow Your Own Cocktail concept was born, Jameson has encouraged meaningful human connections between bars and their community through foraging, hosting masterclasses, and partnering with local expert craftspeople. This has inspired participants to embark on a journey of collaboration with local producers on a truly global scale.

Alongside the web series, Jameson is encouraging bartenders to proactively support their local community by joining the Grow Your Own Cocktail movement. Jameson is offering a €1,000 cash prize to be split equally between bartenders and producers who work in collaboration to create a Jameson cocktail using locally sourced ingredients. The competition will encourage bartenders to leverage their local environment by creating a signature drink with ingredients sourced from a farm, corner shop or local market and winners will be encouraged to invest their prize back into their community through further local sourcing.

Entrants simply post their cocktail on Instagram, outlining the local ingredients used, background to the collaboration, and explain why Jameson should support them, along with the hashtag #GrowYourOwnCocktail. The contest will judge each Bartender’s fresh new cocktail. How their new serve celebrates and supports both the local community and the smooth taste of Jameson –will also be rewarded.

Irish Distillers’ International Marketing Director Brendan Buckley explains, “The Grow Your Own Cocktail web series is integral in encouraging collaboration between the bar industry and their local craftspeople. The bar community has faced serious challenges in 2020, so now, more than ever the industry needs solidarity, creativity and innovation to help it through these times. It’s Jameson’s mission to support this creativity and encourage bartenders to use their own environments in truly innovative ways.

“The bartending community is at the heart of Jameson as the first advocates of our whiskey many years ago.  We can’t wait to see what bartenders and their wider communities come up with.”

Episodes of the web series are being released throughout August and September via @JamesonHosts on Instagram and the Jameson Irish Whiskey YouTube channel.

For more information on how to enter the competition, bartenders should head over to the @JamesonHosts Instagram page. All posts must tag @JamesonHosts and the deadline for entries is the September 14th 2020.

Much like Treaty Oak’s award-winning flagship offering, Ghost Hill Texas Bourbon, The Day Drinker Texas Bourbon is a 100% Texas-made grain-to-glass bourbon that’s born from Texas wheat and yellow no.1 corn from Barton Springs Mill, proofed using limestone-filtered water, and aged for one year under the hot Texas sun. 375 PARK AVENUE SPIRITS AND THE RENOWNED JOURNEYMAN DISTILLERY OF MICHIGAN FORGE PARTNERSHIP IN THE U.S. MARKET – American Whiskey News

375 PARK AVENUE SPIRITS AND THE RENOWNED JOURNEYMAN DISTILLERY OF MICHIGAN FORGE PARTNERSHIP IN THE U.S. MARKET

Louisville, KY (August 20, 2020)—Superior brand specialist, 375 Park Avenue Spirits, is pleased to announce that it has entered into a supply and distribution agreement with Journeyman Distillery effective January 1, 2021.  Under this agreement, 375 Park Avenue Spirits and Sazerac Company’s Bond and Royal craft division will assume responsibility for all sales and operational functions and will support the brand’s marketing efforts.

“When we explore potential strategic partners, it goes without saying that we evaluate the brand proposition, but we also want to ensure that we share a common vision with the owners and that they’re a good cultural fit for what we’re building.  I can honestly say unequivocally that’s the type of long-term partner we’ve found in Bill and Johanna Welter from Journeyman,” said Jason Schladenhauffen, president and CEO of 375 Park Avenue Spirits.  “From the history surrounding the building that now serves as the distillery, to the brand being 100% grain to bottle and certified organic, the unique points of difference and authenticity permeate from this brand like very few in the industry.  Couple all of that with the award-winning liquids that Bill and his team cultivate and our team feels poised to deliver big things for this portfolio in the years to come.”

Founded in 2010 by husband and wife team Bill and Johanna Welter, Journeyman Distillery opened its doors to the public in 2011. There was no great fanfare in the early days, setting the tone for business on the tail end of the Great Recession, at a time when few even recognized what craft distilling was. The Welters and three employees, bursting with entrepreneurial spirit and the American dream of creating their own startup, had high hopes and aspirations of owning and operating a multigenerational business.

“We welcome the opportunity to work with a world-class organization in 375 Park Avenue Spirits,” said Bill and Johanna Welter.  “In an effort to maintain one of our core visions of creating a multigenerational, family owned and operated business, we feel that the collaboration, with the like-minded 375 Park Avenue Spirits, will advance that mission. With the 375 Park Avenue Spirits expert sales team and guidance, we embrace the challenge for our authentic brand story, heritage, and carefully handcrafted artisan spirits, to reach a wider audience in the US. We are ready to embark on this ‘Adventure of Spirit’ together.”

About Journeyman Distillery:

Journeyman takes its place as one of the first to fire up its stills, during what would later be known as the craft distilling renaissance. Journeyman has focused on a grain to bottle process, creating award winning, certified organic and kosher spirits. We proudly reside in Three Oaks, a town of 1,000 people in the great state of Michigan. Journeyman Distillery is located in an 1800s corset and buggy whip factory once owned and operated by E.K. Warren a: visionary, philanthropist, industrialist, and prohibitionist. The distillery now attracts over 200,000 visitors a year.

Welter, having spent time living in St. Andrews Scotland, fell in love with Scotch whisky. That passion and entrepreneurial spirit would later translate into following his grandfather Bill and father, Chuck in the pursuit of a new kind of family business. Journeyman was born out of the idea of, creating hand crafted spirits, an authentic story, and a passion to take a small company and build it into much more.

With a focus on quality, locally sourced organic and kosher ingredients, and the signature inclusion of wheat across the product line, the once small startup, now boasts over 150 employees and distribution in 19 states and Europe. The family feeling and pride remains strong, as the Welter’s are still active in many facets of the business, in conjunction with building a management team that is an integral part of the evolving scene and growth.

Journeyman is now venturing into a new phase, embarking on a collaboration and partnership with the 375 Park Avenue Spirits team. Together we will work to make Journeyman a household name across America.

Tobermory, Deanston and Bunnahabhain Distilleries unveil stunning new collection of limited-editions – Scotch Whisky News

Tobermory, Deanston and Bunnahabhain Distilleries unveil stunning new collection of limited-editions

Eight exceptional new limited-edition expressions have been unveiled across Distell’s Single Malt Scotch Whisky portfolio – Tobermory, Deanston and Bunnahabhain distilleries

The new expressions promise to appeal to all whisky-lovers – with an array of cask finishes to suit every palate

Mini sample kits will also be available to purchase, for those who want to join in a Global online tasting event with the distillery team later this year

Distell’s award-winning collection of Single Malt Scotch Whisky distilleries, Tobermory, Deanston and Bunnahabhain, are proud to introduce eight exceptional new expressions to the Global market.

The limited edition expressions across the three distilleries each bring unique new colour to the iconic Distell portfolio, with a rich combination of diverse and traditional cask finishes.

The artisan Tobermory Distillery on the island of Mull, known for its ties to art in nature and colourful island influences, has revealed three vibrant new expressions. First off is the Tobermory 2007 Port Pipe Finish (ABV 55.8%), matured first in refill hogsheads before transferring to Port Pipes for its final four years, followed by two of the distilleries Ledaig peated expression; the Ledaig 1998 Marsala Finish (ABV 58.6%), matured for 21 years with four of those spent in Marsala wine casks, and the third and final Collectors Edition 2007 Pedro Xeminez Finish (ABV 55.5%).

Deanston Distillery, hailed for its industrious spirit and sustainable production processes, has also introduced three distinct new expressions. A 2002 Organic Pedro Ximenez finish cask strength (ABV 49.3%); a Deanston 1991 Muscat Finish (ABV 45%), and finally, the Deanston 2002 Pinot Noir (ABV 50%).

Finally, to round off the collection, global favourite Bunnahabhain Distillery, the most northerly of the Islay distilleries, looking over the Sound of Islay, has unveiled two stunning new expressions. First is the Bunnahabhain 2008 Manzanilla Matured (ABV 55.4%), boasting a unique marriage of coastal infused flavours after carefully maturing in former Manzanilla sherry casks for 11 years, alongside the Bunnahabhain Moine 1997 Pedro Ximenez Finish (ABV 50%), – a peppery peated cask-strength single malt.

All of the new expressions are natural in colour and non-chill filtered so their full flavours can be enjoyed as nature intended.

Julieann Fernandez, Master Blender at Distell, said: “Our annual collection of limited-editions always bring the distillery team’s talent and craft to the forefront, with unique takes on our beloved core classics. And this year’s expressions are truly special.

Having been slumbering away in their casks at our distilleries around Scotland, these stunning malts are finally ready for our loyal fans to experience them. With a combined age of nearly 150 years across the eight expressions, we’ve been waiting a very long time to hear what you think.”

The distilleries will be debuting an online tasting of a selection of limited editions exclusively with TopWhiskies on Instagram in the autumn, with a unique IGTV tasting experience with Master Blender Julieann Fernandez, Distillery Manager Andrew Brown and Visitor Centre Manager Dr Billy Sinclair. About Tobermory Distillery

Established in 1798, Tobermory is the Isle of Mull’s only whisky distillery and one of the oldest commercial distilleries in Scotland. It sits at the centre of the vibrant island community from which it takes its name. Under the Tobermory distillery name, the artisan Hebridean Distiller produces Tobermory Whisky and Ledaig Single Malts and, for the first time in its history, Tobermory Gin. Today, it is a thriving, expressive and unique distillery, true to its idyllic location on the Hebridean island of Mull.

Inspired by the expressive nature of Mull, a splash of spirit from the Tobermory whisky stills is added to Tobermory Gin to create a unique character. Distilled on the island with a rich palate of hand-selected botanicals including juniper, tea, heather, elderflower, sweet orange peel, and just a little bit of knowledge from 220 years of history. Best served in a balloon glass, with copious amounts of ice, chilled tonic water, and garnished with a sprig of thyme, a slice of fresh red blood orange, and a dash of dried hibiscus flowers.

About Deanston:

In 1785, the Adelphi Cotton Mill was established. Employing nearly 1,500 people at its peak, the mill founders saw an opportunity in the trade boom of the 1800s and seized it. With success came expansion, their own currency, and – in 1830 – a lade and one of the biggest waterwheels in Europe were installed, before being replaced by electrical turbines in 1949 – the same turbines we’ve come to rely on today.

When in 1965, the cotton mill of Deanston town closed for good, it seemed the community’s days of trading were over. Enter Brodie Hepburn and his entrepreneurial partners. Seeing potential, where others only saw challenges, the industrious consortium identified a new use for the building, lade, and weaving shed. And so, in 1966, Deanston Distillery opened for business, with the very first bottle of Deanston produced 8 years later, in 1974.

About Bunnahabhain:

Established in 1881 and situated on Islay’s most northerly point, Bunnahabhain is the island’s most remote distillery, overlooking a notorious passage of ocean known by seafarers as the sound of Islay. It has long established links to the sea, previously only accessible by boat – with ships loaded up daily before transporting their important whisky cargo back to the mainland for sale.

The word ‘Bunnahabhain’ is Gaelic for ‘mouth of the river’ referring to the Margadale River, its source of pure spring water which is distilled in the island’s tallest stills, creating the renowned malts. It’s the use of pure spring water that is piped to the distillery which gives it its unique light colouring setting it apart from other darker liquids on the Islay landscape. The distillery goes against the grain – quite literally – with a portfolio made up of broadly non-peated expressions, however, its peated Toiteach A Dhà expression recently won in the Scotch Islay: No Age Statement category at this year’s World Whiskies Awards. Bunnahabhain took home a further four titles in the 2020 awards ranging from silver to gold certificates – showcasing the calibre of its range.

LOUISVILLE, KY (Aug. 12, 2020)Paddy Irish Whiskey placed in two categories at the 2020 International Whisky Competition, earning a gold medal and was named the Best Blended Irish Whiskey. The whiskey also earned a silver medal and second place for the Best Irish Whiskey at the IWC.

Founded by Paddy Flaherty in 1779, the whiskey is triple-distilled from the finest barley and water from County Cork’s Irish countryside. Paddy’s matures in three types of oak casks. Hints of spice, honey and vanilla along with a gently fading sweet finish denotes a bottle of Paddy Irish Whiskey.

“We are very honored to receive the title of Best Blended Whiskey,” Marketing Director Tiffany Wilburn said. “Both of these awards are testaments to the efforts by our partners at Cork Distilleries.”

The International Whisky Competition launched in 2010 with a vision of creating a true competition, offering just three medals per category, like the Olympics.
