BIMBER DISTILLERY LAUNCHES ITS LATEST ‘SHOULDERS OF GIANTS’ RELEASES – English Whisky News

BIMBER DISTILLERY LAUNCHES ITS LATEST

‘SHOULDERS OF GIANTS’ RELEASES

London 31/07/25: Bimber has today announced the launch of its latest releases from its acclaimed ‘Shoulders of Giants’ series — the distillery’s homage to the diverse tapestry of thinkers, innovators and visionaries who have shaped our world.

Following our previous release, Pablo – The Artist, which paid tribute to artistic innovation, we were inspired to take the next step in our creative journey. This time, we continue that journey with a broader lens. UK editions draws inspiration from beyond our borders. Why? Because art knows no boundaries, and neither does greatness.

These UK-exclusive editions are inspired by and pay tribute to three legendary figures from the world of art: Vincent — The Dreamer, Claude — The Impressionist and Leonardo — The Visionary. Each release honours their creativity through remarkable single cask whisky that reflects their unique artistic vision.

By celebrating great artists from around the world, we share a passion for creativity- just like our whisky, crafted with skill and imagination. These artists show what it means to work with passion and create something truly extraordinary.

In addition to the UK releases, we’re also proud to present three exclusive editions created for Germany, inspired by some of the engineering pioneers who changed the course of history: Karl — The Inventor, Rudolf — The Engineer and Nicolaus — The Inventor. These single cask whiskies pay tribute to the spirit of invention and mechanical genius, values that echo our own commitment to precision and craftsmanship.

This latest release features six meticulously crafted single malt whiskies, each produced using Bimber’s traditional methods. From the distillery’s single farm barley and dedicated floor at Warminster Maltings, to seven day open-topped fermentation and directly fired copper pot stills – every stage of Bimber’s production process has been designed to produce a rich, fruit-forward whisky that is celebrated for its depth and complexity.

Each expression in the ‘Shoulders of Giants’ series is bottled at natural cask strength and features attention-grabbing artwork and biographical details that celebrate the accomplishments of historical figures who have dared to dream and defied status quos.

Drawn from Bimber’s growing inventory of fruit-forward single malt whiskies, each ‘Shoulders of Giants’ release offers a different story both inside and outside of the bottle.

The three new UK-Exclusive ‘Shoulders of Giants’ releases are comprised of:

Vincent — The Dreamer

Claude — The Impressionist

Leonardo — The Visionary

Single Cask Release | Palo Cortado

Cask Ref: 547/50 | 57.3% ABV | 340 Bottles

Inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s genius, this whisky offers rich notes of sherry-steeped dried fruit, dark chocolate, maraschino cherries, ground black pepper, and warm wood spice.

The three new Germany-Exclusive ‘Shoulders of Giants’ releases are comprised of:

Karl — The Inventor

Cask Ref. 462 | 58% ABV | 258 bottles

The release which celebrates Karl Benz’s revolutionary invention of the automobile and his impact on global mobility reveals notes of butterscotch, orange peel, fudge, mixed spice, and tobacco leaf.

Rudolf — The Engineer

Single Cask Release | Fino Sherry

Cask Ref. 540/39 | 57.6% ABV | 293 bottles

This release celebrates Rudolf Diesel’s pioneering development of the efficient diesel engine. It offers up notes including sherry steeped fruits, dark chocolate, vanilla, wood spice, and a whisp of smoke.

Nicolaus — The Inventor

Single Cask Release | Oloroso Sherry

Cask Ref. 446 | 57.9% ABV | 297 bottles

This release celebrates Nicolaus Otto’s groundbreaking innovation in engine technology. It delivers notes including dried fruits, caramel, honeycomb, golden syrup, and balsamic vinegar.

Commenting on the launch, Steve Rush, Head of Marketing and Communications at Bimber Distillery, said: “At Bimber, we believe that true artistry knows no bounds. Just as Vincent van Gogh poured passion into every brushstroke, Monet revolutionized our perception of light, and Leonardo da Vinci imagined the impossible, engineering pioneers Karl Benz, Rudolf Diesel, and Nicolaus Otto redefined motion through innovation. At Bimber, we craft our whisky with that same spirit of inventive precision and dedication. These latest ‘Shoulders of Giants’ releases are a testament to the craftsmanship behind our fruit-forward single malt London whisky – and to the quality and variety of the casks we use.”

The UK exclusives will be available through our online shop from 1 August 2025, at an RRP of £95.00 each.

The Germany exclusives will be available soon exclusively through our German distributor, Kirsch Import.

CLYDEBUILT WHISKY BRAND RELEASES BATCH OF SINGLE MALTS – Scotch Whisky News

CLYDEBUILT WHISKY BRAND RELEASES

BATCH OF SINGLE MALTS

Boutique Scotch whisky brand Clydebuilt expands its portfolio with tranche of Single Malts

Award-winning Scotch whisky brand Clydebuilt today expands its portfolio with six new small batch Single Malt releases, including three Single Cask bottlings.

Independent Scotch whisky distillery Ardgowan is behind the boutique label, with the first release hitting shelves in 2019.

The site, based in Inverkip, filled its first cask with its own distillate and officially opened to the public last month after eight years of planning and construction.

The range is named after the distinguished shipbuilding trade historically on the River Clyde, with the word ‘Clydebuilt’ coming to stand for craftsmanship and integrity.

Distillery Manager Laura Davies, whose 13 years of experience includes mentorship under the late industry great, Dr Jim Swan, developed the new batch of Clydebuilt Single Malts.

The six releases, which were sourced from the world-renowned Speyside region, include:

  • 12-year-old Sherry Cask Matured: aged in a combination of Sherry butts, followed by Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez hogsheads, this Single Malt is bottled at 46% ABV.
  • 12-year-old 100 Proof Sherry Cask Matured: a higher strength iteration of the aforementioned expression, this whisky underwent the same maturation before being bottled at 57.1% ABV, conforming to the traditional British 100 proof system historically defined as the point at which a spirit could ignite gunpowder.
  • 12-year-old Official Opening Day Release: bottled to commemorate the distillery’s official opening on 20th June 2025, the Speyside Single Malt was matured in three Sherry casks and bottled at a cask strength of 59.5% ABV.
  • 2012 Pedro Ximénez (PX) Hogshead Single Cask: presented at cask strength of 58.5% ABV, 352 bottles have been produced from cask number AS059 which formerly held PX: a dark, sweet style of Sherry wine.
  • 2012 Oloroso Hogshead Single Cask: matured in cask AS076 which previously hosted Oloroso – the darkest of the dry Sherry styles – this limited release consists of just 342 bottles with an ABV of 59.0%.
  • 2012 Manzanilla Hogshead Single Cask: aged in a rare Manzanilla cask, exclusively available from the Spanish coastal town of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, the lighter profile and maritime notes add a distinctive twist on the 335 bottles available at 61.1% ABV.
  • 12-year-old Sherry Cask Matured: £46.99
  • 12-year-old 100 Proof Sherry Cask Matured: £64.99
  • 12-year-old Official Opening Day Release: £85
  • 2012 PX Hogshead Single Cask: £85
  • 2012 Oloroso Hogshead Single Cask: £85
  • 2012 Manzanilla Hogshead Single Cask: £85

As is the case with all Clydebuilt whiskies, each expression is bottled without added colouring or chill filtration.

Remarking on the news, Davies shares:

“With Ardgowan situated on the Firth of Clyde, the rich history of craftsmanship local to our distillery is the inspiration for the Clydebuilt brand. Every whisky bottled under the name must be worthy of honouring the unmatched attention to detail and pride in quality of those that came before.”

“Our new Single Malts underwent maturation on-site at Ardgowan in premium European oak Sherry casks. All aged for 12 years, each delivers distinctive character owed to both the distillate profile and the maturation history. Most importantly, they are all bottled with an age statement, at a minimum of 46% ABV, without chill filtration and without artificial colouring. These are undoubtably Single Malts deserving of the Clydebuilt name.”

The distillery’s tour offering will launch imminently following the appointment of Visitor Centre Manager Barbara Campbell this month.

Clydebuilt Single Malts will be available via specialist retailers in the UK, Austria, Belgium, Sweden and Germany. Find out more here.

ABOUT CLYDEBUILT SCOTCH WHISKY:

Some of the greatest ships in the world were built on the River Clyde and so, over time, the word ‘Clydebuilt’ came to stand for craftsmanship, integrity and pride. The Clydebuilt brand was inspired by that exceptional legacy: a fitting tribute as Ardgowan Distillery, the home of the brand, is situated on the Firth of Clyde near Inverkip.

While Ardgowan Single Malt continues to slumber for many years, Whisky Maker Laura Davies applies the same meticulous approach to Clydebuilt. This is a boutique range of thoughtfully selected and masterfully matured Scotch whiskies that honour the spirit of the Clyde, emulating and upholding the attention to detail and the pride in quality of those that came before. Heaven Hill Brands Unveils Refreshed Corporate Brand and Opens New Louisville Corporate Office

Heaven Hill Brands Unveils Refreshed Corporate Brand and Opens New Louisville Corporate Office

Company earns national recognition as a U.S. Best Managed Company for second consecutive year

Heaven Hill Brands, one of the nation’s largest independent, family-owned spirits companies, today unveiled its refreshed corporate brand and marked the opening of its new Louisville corporate office with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by city and company leadership, including Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg, and employees.

The refreshed brand reflects Heaven Hill’s nearly 90-year legacy and signals a bold, unified vision for the future, centered on its people, partners, communities, and award-winning portfolio of spirits. At the core of this refreshed identity is the new company tagline, “Thriving Together,” a message that captures the company’s belief that long-term success comes through collaboration, shared values, and a deep commitment to those it serves.

“Our new corporate office is a physical expression of our refreshed brand, modern, intentional, and people-first,” said Kate Latts, Co-President of Heaven Hill Brands. “It reflects not only how we work, but who we are: a company built on connection, creativity, and a belief that we thrive together.”

Originally introduced internally earlier this year, the new brand identity brings clarity and consistency to how the company shows up across all touchpoints, from employee culture and trade partnerships to community engagement and corporate storytelling. As of today, it is fully visible across external channels, including the company’s newly relaunched website, heavenhill.com.

The new corporate office, located at 815 N. Whittington Parkway, brings Heaven Hill’s Louisville-based teams under one roof for the first time in many years. The 48,000-square-foot space includes more than 150 dedicated workspaces, a two-story café, employee art gallery wall, a New Product Development area, and flexible gathering spaces to support innovation and teamwork.

Among the standout features is Max’s Place, a tasting bar named by employees in honor of longtime company leader and current Executive Chairman Max Shapira. The space also features installations from local partners, including a hand-painted mural by OSRS and a living moss wall by Anything Groes. Full-wall brand graphics, installed by USA Image, celebrate the company’s defining attributes, authenticity, legacy, integrity, and innovation, all central to the spirit of Thriving Together.

“We built this office to foster connection, collaboration, and growth,” said Allan Latts, Co-President. “And it comes at a time when Heaven Hill is gaining momentum on every front, from new product innovation and distilling expansion, to how we invest in our people and communities. That’s what ‘Thriving Together’ looks like in action.”

“Heaven Hill is a vibrant and growing business with deep roots in Louisville,” said Louisville Mayor Greenberg.  “Its new corporate office is a testament to the economic strength and momentum we have right now in Louisville and an investment in the future success of the company and our community. The innovative design and commitment to employee well-being will attract new talent to Heaven Hill and to the city of Louisville.”

That momentum is underscored by a significant national honor: Heaven Hill has once again been named a U.S. Best Managed Company by Deloitte Private and The Wall Street Journal, an award recognizing excellence in strategy, execution, culture, and financial performance. The recognition places Heaven Hill among a distinguished group of companies across more than 40 countries.

The design and construction of the new corporate office was made possible through the collaboration of several valued partners. Heaven Hill extends its appreciation to NTS Development, ARCO, 15 Design, Miranda Construction, and Hoagland Commercial Realtors for their leadership and partnership throughout the planning and build process.

Founded in Bardstown, Kentucky in 1935, Heaven Hill remains family-owned and led. Its portfolio includes some of the most awarded and beloved spirits brands in the industry, such as Elijah Craig Bourbon, Evan Williams Bourbon, Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond, Lunazul Tequila, Ocho Tequila, and Deep Eddy Vodka.

Today’s milestone builds on the company’s ongoing investment across the Commonwealth, including the opening of the Heaven Hill Springs Distillery in Bardstown and continued operations at the historic Bernheim Distillery in West Louisville.

BUFFALO TRACE DISTILLERY CONTINUES WELLER’S EXPANSION INTO WHEAT WHISKEY BY INTRODUCING WELLER 18 YEAR OLD AND THE SECOND EDITION OF WELLER MILLENNIUM

BUFFALO TRACE DISTILLERY CONTINUES WELLER’S EXPANSION INTO WHEAT WHISKEY BY INTRODUCING WELLER 18 YEAR OLD AND THE SECOND EDITION OF WELLER MILLENNIUM

The result of The World’s Most Award-Winning Distillery’s continued exploration of wheat whiskey, both releases celebrate W. L. Weller’s legacy of experimentation and the remarkable aging potential for the category

FRANKFORT, KY – Buffalo Trace Distillery is thrilled to announce two super-premium wheat whiskey innovations from the Original Wheated Bourbon brand, including the second edition of Weller Millennium, comprising a new blend of ultra-aged wheat whiskeys; and Weller 18 Year Old, the brand’s oldest age statement to date. Meticulously crafted to push the boundaries of maturation and blending, these releases boldly demonstrate the exceptional aging potential and versatility of wheat in American whiskey production.

Produced at The World’s Most Award-Winning Distillery, both innovations celebrate the original wheated bourbon recipes pioneered by William Larue Weller in 1847. At a time when rye and corn dominated the market, Weller’s use of the more delicate wheat grain – primarily a food crop – resulted in a smoother, sweeter whiskey that set his whiskeys apart. These latest expressions honor Weller’s legacy of innovation as Buffalo Trace Distillery continues its ongoing exploration of wheat in pursuit of crafting the world’s best whiskey.

Weller Millenium #2: Following the inaugural Weller Millennium released in May 2024, this second edition presents a newly-crafted blend of vintage straight wheated bourbon and wheat whiskeys. Consistent with its predecessor, each component was distilled at Buffalo Trace Distillery in 2001, 2003 and 2006 and set aside for the sole purpose of creating this extraordinary blend in tribute of one of its forebearers, W. L. Weller. By thoughtfully blending these individually distinct whiskeys, the resulting spirit attains a depth and complexity that transcends the sum of its parts.

“Weller Millenium was crafted to feature some of the first whiskeys distilled in the new millennium amid a period of transformation at Buffalo Trace Distillery. This second edition takes last year’s release a step further, with a new blend that we humbly believe is an improvement over the well-regarded first edition,” said Andrew Duncan, Global Brand Director, Buffalo Trace Distillery. “By carefully selecting and blending barrels dating back to the early 2000’s, we have revisited a chapter in the Distillery’s history that shaped who we are today.”

The second edition of Weller Millennium offers a balance of dark cherry, rich butterscotch and warm vanilla that unfolds over layers of well-aged oak. The finish is bold and enduring, culminating in an oak-forward crescendo that leaves a lasting impression.

In keeping with the first edition, Weller Millennium #2 is held in a 750ml handcrafted crystal decanter with a custom-made crystal topper hand-etched with W.L. Weller’s original “W” stamp of quality. An illuminated display case envelopes the 99-proof bottling with exactly 99 bursts while proudly displaying the proportions and distillation years of each vintage whiskey contained within. Due to the limited nature of these exceptionally-aged barrels, each Weller Millennium blend is a unique, one-of-a-kind release that cannot be replicated.

Weller Millenium will be released in limited quantities through Sazerac’s United States and global distributor networks, which will ship to retailers, bars and restaurants as of July 2025 at a suggested retail price of $7,500 (750ml); taxes will vary by market. A limited supply will also be available for purchase at Buffalo Trace Distillery and directly via Legacy de Forge, a new Sazerac-branded global platform powered by Blockbar for purchasing some of the world’s most coveted bottles.

Weller 18 Year Old: As the oldest age stated whiskey in the Weller portfolio, Weller 18 Year Old brings exceptional grace and depth as an ultra-aged , 90-proof wheat whiskey. This new release stands as a testament to the Distillery’s dedication to innovation, demonstrating that Kentucky-aged whiskey can mature beautifully well beyond more commonly seen age statements.

“Weller 18 Year Old is the culmination of curiosity, tradition and time,” said Harlen Wheatley, Master Distiller, Buffalo Trace Distillery. “The softness of the wheat has evolved into something rich and wonderfully expressive.  We are extremely proud of the resulting whiskey, which showcases the versatility and potential of a wheat-forward mashbill.”

On the nose, this whiskey reveals gentle notes of delicately aged fruits and tobacco. The palate offers a harmonious balance of warm baking spices and crisp green pear, delivering depth without overwhelming, and leads to a lasting finish.

Weller 18 Year Old is packaged in a 700ml handcrafted crystal decanter with a custom-made crystal topper hand-etched with W.L. Weller’s original “W” stamp of quality, similar to Weller Millennium but without the accompanying presentation case.

For its inaugural release, Weller 18 Year Old will be available via Global Travel Retail at airports including Los Angeles International (LAX), John F. Kennedy International (JFK) and London Heathrow (LHR) as of July 2025 at a suggested retail price of $499 (700ml).

White Peak reveals the 3rd generation of Wire Works Necessary Evil Finish – English Whisky News

White Peak reveals the 3rd generation of Wire Works Necessary Evil Finish

A celebration of provenance, innovation, quality and friendship

from the heart of Derbyshire

Award-winning independent Derbyshire distillery White Peak is releasing its third iteration of a distillery favourite limited-edition: Wire Works Necessary Evil Finish.

This bottling is a bold expression of the distillery’s core values: provenance, heritage and flavour, brought to life through a unique collaboration with neighbouring Thornbridge Brewery.

The whisky is a dual maturation of White Peak’s lightly-peated spirit, matured initially in ex-bourbon barrels, before being finished in casks that previously held Thornbridge’s celebrated imperial stout, Necessary Evil. Since 2022, the Distillery has released two previous sell-out editions of Necessary Evil Finish. This year’s release, bottled again at 51.3%, is an evolution of the previous releases.

The STR (ex-red wine, shaved, toasted and recharred) finishing casks began life with Wire Works whisky, went on to mature Necessary Evil stout (winner of world beer awards 2024 world’s best flavoured beer), and then returned to White Peak for one final transformation. The story of Necessary Evil Finish is one of a unique Derbyshire relationship; a true journey of flavour, friendship and a shared commitment to quality.

Max Vaughan, co-founder of White Peak, explains:

“We’ve had a strong relationship with Thornbridge since we began. We use their spent brewer’s yeast in all our fermentations – collecting it weekly has become part of our distilling routine. Necessary Evil Finish brings the story full circle: whisky that starts life with Thornbridge yeast, and finishes its journey in their stout casks. It’s a reflection of our shared heritage and commitment to quality.”

Tom Lindsey, White Peak’s whisky lead and brand ambassador adds:

“We allowed this final finish to sit for around eight months, leaving some headspace in the cask to encourage subtle oxidation. The result is a wonderfully complex whisky with mellow, fruit-forward and savoury notes.”

This third release of Necessary Finish follows two previous sibling successes – the inaugural 2022 edition receiving Gold at the Global World Whisky Masters.

This year’s bottling will be available from 25th July at the Distillery (and selected UK retail partners including Master of Malt and The Whisky Exchange) RRP: £69.

TASTING NOTES

Overview: Sweet & savoury, with hazelnuts, freshly roasted coffee and dark chocolate, dates, cranberry, and a gentle wisp of smoke.

Nose: Vanilla fudge, milk chocolate digestive biscuits, freshly roasted coffee, hazelnuts, flaked almonds, crème brûlée, baked apple pie, cassia, marzipan, sage, strawberry laces.

Palate: Cacao nibs, Black Forest gateaux, cracked black peppercorns, salted caramel, marmite on toast, butter pastry, Medjool dates, Seville orange marmalade, hint of spearmint, fresh espresso, soft white candy.

Bladnoch Distillery partners with Maison Villevert in French distribution deal – Scotch Whisky News

Bladnoch Distillery partners with Maison Villevert in French distribution deal

Bladnoch, Scotland’s oldest privately-owned Scotch whisky distillery, has partnered with premium spirits distributor Maison Villevert to accelerate growth of the single malt whisky brand in France.

As part of a three-year deal, Bladnoch will work with Cognac-based Maison Villevert to expand the Lowland distillery’s core portfolio into new markets and accounts across France.

Dating back to 1817, Bladnoch Distillery is one of the oldest single malt Scotch whisky producers in the world and is enjoying a bold and powerful revival. The legacy brand has been revived in recent years by David Prior, who purchased Bladnoch Distillery in 2015 and is the first Australian businessman to own a Scotch whisky distillery.

Bladnoch whiskies are now available in more than 45 markets worldwide, including the UK, the US, Australia, France and Taiwan.

Maison Villevert’s entrepreneurial spirit can be traced back to 1487 with Jehan Robicquet, an ancestor of the artisan distributor’s current founding chairman Jean-Sébastien Robicquet, playing a pioneering role in the cognac business during the 16th century.

Dr Nick Savage, master distiller at Bladnoch, said:

“Our proposition to create a bold Galloway spirit with a proud heritage is unique to our distillery. As a result, demand for Bladnoch has grown at pace in recent years, not only in the UK but increasingly in France.

“Our partnership with Maison Villevert marks the next step in our vision for growth in this important market, helping us to reach more whisky enthusiasts in France with our signature Lowland Scotch whisky style and ‘taste-first’ approach to whisky making.”

Yannick Perezzan, commercial director at Maison Villevert, said:

“Maison Villevert and Bladnoch share strong common values rooted in independence, authenticity, and a deep respect for heritage and craftsmanship.

“Maison Villevert will develop the Bladnoch brand in France by leveraging our tailored distribution model across premium retail network and on-trade. Thanks to its strong market expertise, premium positioning and storytelling-driven approach, we aim to elevate Bladnoch’s visibility, build emotional connections with consumers, and establish it as a key reference in the single malt whisky category in France.”

Bladnoch’s partnership with Maison Villevert, established in March, follows the appointment of London-based Enotria&Coe as the brand’s UK distributor in February 2024 and an ongoing partnership with US distributor Twenty20 Beverages, established in the same month.

This legacy brand has been revived in recent years by Master Distiller, Dr Nick Savage, formerly of The Macallan, and owner David Prior, who purchased Bladnoch Distillery in 2015 and is the first Australian businessman to own a Scotch whisky distillery.

Bladnoch has been commended with several high-profile award wins in recent years, most recently at the World Whiskies Awards 2025, where Bladnoch 16 Year Old was awarded gold in the ‘Single Malt – 13 to 20 Years’ category and Bladnoch 13 Year Old taking silver in the same division. In the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2025 Bladnoch was awarded a trio of prestigious awards, receiving double gold medals for each of its Vinaya, Samsara and 13 Year Old Lowland single malt whiskies.

The team at Bladnoch is truly passionate about the preservation of the environment and the local community’s generational involvement in this iconic distillery.

The Elgin-based distillery will be bringing its whisky bar back to the event’s Championship Village, serving up a selection of award-winning drams and cocktails for the 35,000 spectators expected at the iconic Sunningdale Golf Club in Berkshire for this year’s event (24th – 27th July).

Glen Moray signed a three-year partnership with the prestigious event – Europe’s only senior major – in 2024.

This summer they will repeat the success of the partnership’s first year, bringing a taste of Glen Moray’s famously smooth and fruity Speyside single malt whisky – and some great Scottish hospitality – to golf fans at Sunningdale, as 144 golfing legends take to the fairways with their eye on the Senior Open trophy.

Proceedings over the four-day event will include:

  • An extended menu of single malts, including drams from Glen Moray’s Explorer, Heritage, Xperience and Warehouse 1 ranges;
  • The launch of a refreshing new highball menu, featuring three recipes that explore the different flavours and characteristics of Glen Moray’s whiskies;
  • A Sunningdale exclusive in the shape of Glen Moray Forbidden Fruit, giving spectators a preview of the third edition of the distillery’s Xperience Series, before it lands on shelves in the UK later this year;
  • Daily tastings and masterclasses with Global Brand Ambassador Iain Allan, inviting guests to sample and learn more about Speyside, Scotch whisky and the secrets of Glen Moray Distillery;
  • A 5pm daily Championship cocktail hour, serving up specially commissioned Glen Moray ‘Oak Fashioneds’ in honour of Sunningdale’s famous oak tree;
  • Limited edition branded hip flasks on sale in the Glen Moray shop, plus a personalised branded leather bottle tag which is complimentary with select purchases;
  • The new Glen Moray Chipping Challenge – the ultimate ‘golf meets whisky’ skill test at Sunningdale’s 13th hole, where avid amateurs can attempt to chip balls into three barrels from the distillery.

Iain Allan and Rorrie Brown

Iain Allan has also been on a quest to hear stories from some of the people behind the scenes of the golf world, whose skill, passion and dedication are a match for the distillery team in Elgin.

The result is the first of a new Glen Moray film series, ‘A Classic Round with…’ which sees Iain chat all things golf and whisky with Sunningdale’s Rorrie Brown: a lifelong caddie who shares stories of his dedication to the game, the players and getting it right in the big moments.

Crafted in the historic town of Elgin since 1897 and now one of the UK’s top selling single malt whiskies, Glen Moray is also investing in a busy programme of marketing to bring its ‘Classic Round’ golf campaign to consumers, with activity in UK supermarkets, travel retail and across PR and social media throughout the summer.

Speaking ahead of the Championship, Iain Allan said: ‘Our first year of partnership with the Senior Open exceeded all expectations and our bar was a very popular addition to the event experience for golf fans. So we’re thrilled to be back for another round of drams, cocktails and great whisky conversations at Sunningdale this year. The common threads whisky shares with golf – heritage, an appreciation of quality and celebrating good times with friends – really come together throughout this event. We’re very proud to be at the heart of those moments, and to have so many new drams and experiences to share with people as they enjoy some world class golf.’

Edward Kitson, Championship Director at the European Tour Group, added: ‘Partners such as Glen Moray play such an important part in the success of our tournaments and we are delighted that they are returning as the Official Whiskey of the ISPS HANDA Senior Open for this year and next. We are excited for our guests and spectators to sample the range of activities planned by Glen Moray during the week at Sunningdale, alongside the worldclass golf on show from some of the game’s biggest names.’

The ISPS Handa Senior Open is jointly owned by the European Tour Group and The R&A and is staged each July at one of the UK’s most iconic golf courses.

About the ISPS HANDA Senior Open

The ISPS HANDA Senior Open will take place at Sunningdale for the fourth time as the iconic Berkshire venue hosts Europe’s only Senior Major Championship from July 24-27, 2025.

Sunningdale previously hosted the Championship in 2009, 2015 and 2021, with Loren Roberts, Marco Dawson and Stephen Dodd winning the Senior Open trophy on those occasions.

The 2024 Senior Open saw K.J. Choi make history as the first South Korean to win a men’s Senior Major Championship, finishing two strokes ahead of Australia’s Richard Green.

Bernhard Langer became the first golfer in history to win The Senior Open four times with his victory in 2019 at Royal Lytham & St Annes – moving ahead of Gary Player and Tom Watson with whom he previously shared three wins. The German also broke his own record of Senior Major Championship victories – securing his 11th at Royal Lytham & St Annes and since adding a 12th at the 2023 U.S. Senior Open.

The Senior Open was introduced in 1987 at Turnberry in Ayrshire when Neil Coles, the former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the European Tour group, won the inaugural title. This led, two years later, to the formal inception of what is now the Legends Tour. It has since been held at some of the United Kingdom’s most historic and renowned venues, including the Old Course at St Andrews, Royal County Down, Carnoustie, Royal Birkdale, Royal Portrush and Royal Lytham & St Annes.

GORDON & MACPHAIL INTRODUCES THE WORLD’S OLDEST SINGLE MALT SCOTCH WHISKY ~ GORDON & MACPHAIL 85 YEARS OLD FROM GLENLIVET DISTILLERY PRESENTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH JEANNE GANG – Scotch Whisky News

GORDON & MACPHAIL INTRODUCES
THE WORLD’S OLDEST SINGLE MALT SCOTCH WHISKY

GORDON & MACPHAIL 85 YEARS OLD FROM GLENLIVET DISTILLERY
PRESENTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH JEANNE GANG

ELGIN, SCOTLAND, 22 July 2025: Whisky specialist Gordon & MacPhail is set to release the world’s oldest single malt Scotch whisky this October – an 85-Years-Old from Glenlivet Distillery – in partnership with American architect and designer, Jeanne Gang.

On 3rd February 1940 in a quiet corner of the north-east of Scotland, George Urquhart and his father, John, had the extraordinary foresight and vision to lay down spirit from Glenlivet Distillery in a Gordon & MacPhail American oak cask to be enjoyed after his lifetime by future generations.

George Urquhart, or ‘Mr George’ as he was fondly known by those who knew him best, knew he would never taste it. Only when the whisky was deemed ready would it be shared. Leaning on the family’s unique skills and experience, the time for Cask 336 came to be 85 years – longer than any other single malt Scotch whisky in history.

On 5th February 2025, the decision was taken to finally empty the cask. A total of 125 decanters of the 85 years old whisky were bottled in line with Gordon & MacPhail’s family expertise to produce liquid of the highest quality.

“This whisky is truly exceptional due to its remarkable history and unique maturation process. The influence of the cask, combined with the rarity and scarcity of the liquid, creates a whisky with a strength of 43.7% ABV that is not only extraordinary in its taste but also a living piece of history,” explains Stephen Rankin Director of Prestige at Gordon & MacPhail, and member of the fourth generation of the family that owns the company.

For 130 years, Gordon & MacPhail has been driven by a simple mission: to create single malt Scotch whisky of exceptional quality. Through four generations of family ownership, the company has matched its own casks with spirit from over 100 Scottish distilleries. It is this unique experience of cask curation that allows Gordon & MacPhail to consistently deliver a range of quality whiskies, nurtured from cask to bottle, found nowhere else in the world.

Timing is everything. Gordon & MacPhail will only release a whisky when over a century of experience determines it is appropriate to do so. Leaving each cask to mature, undeterred by commercial necessity, is a long-held, unnegotiable mantra, a fitting way to honour the integrity of each release. As a result, Gordon & MacPhail’s whiskies are often the oldest expression ever to be released from a particular distillery.

To celebrate John and George Urquhart’s vision, one embraced by generations of the family that owns the business, Gordon & MacPhail has collaborated with internationally acclaimed American architect Jeanne
Gang, to create a unique decanter to house the world’s most precious whisky to date. The product design – themed around ‘Artistry in Oak’ – will be revealed later this year. Known for a distinctive design approach that expands beyond architecture’s conventional boundaries, Gang was a natural choice as a creative partner, sharing the company’s commitment to leave a legacy for future generations.

“I was excited to learn about everything involved in whisky’s creation. Each careful step lends something to a whisky’s unique flavor. Then, there are years of protecting the casks so they can age. In architecture, these elements of materiality and time also play a critical role in the design process. Both are about creating something enduring, so this is what I found inspiring about this opportunity to design a decanter for Gordon & MacPhail’s 85-year-old single malt whisky” expresses Gang.

Jeanne Gang’s stunning decanter will be revealed in October 2025, with decanter #1 auctioned by Christie’s New York in November 2025. To continue the legacy theme, auction proceeds (minus costs) will be donated to the oldest national non-profit conservation organisation in the United States, American Forests, a leader in forest restoration.

“Given the importance of oak in our craft, this partnership was a natural fit, aligning with our mission to leave a meaningful legacy for ongoing generations, via fundraising for the sustainable future of American oak trees,” comments Stephen Rankin.

Those who would like to learn more about the whisky ahead of its release are encouraged to register their interest at the brand’s official website at gordonandmacphail.com.

About Gordon & MacPhail’s Unique Relationship With Over 100 Scottish Distilleries

Uniquely, Gordon & MacPhail is the only whisky company to have matched its casks to spirit from over 100 distilleries from all over Scotland. We then nurture it, often for many decades, then lean on experience handed down through four generations to know when to bottle it. Over its 130 history, Gordon & MacPhail built a strong bond of trust and mutual respect with these distilleries to allow the company to fill casks. These relationships were founded on the commitment that Gordon & MacPhail’s releases would complement not compete against those from the proprietary distillery, providing drinkers with interesting nuances in flavour. No other company has the depth and breadth of whisky in terms of variety of source distillery of the original spirit and age up to 80 years.
