A note from Malcolm Waring from Old Pulteney;
Better safe than sorry
Here at Old Pulteney, the spirit safe is something that always stands out when we are showing people around. Gleaming like a ship’s bell, with crystal-clear spirit pouring into it, perhaps it isn’t surprising.
As well as looking impressive, the spirit safe does an essential job. It ensures we get exactly the right cut of spirit, and that’s a major part of making a great whisky.
However, the time has come for our spirit safe to be replaced. If you look closely, you can see that years of constant use have left their mark. In fact, I sometimes joke that the metal is wearing so thin, we’ll soon be afraid to polish it!
Because we never take chances with Old Pulteney, we decided on a replacement that’s tried and tested. That’s why, instead of getting a new one, we’ll soon be taking delivery of a spirit safe that has only had one careful owner. Look out for more about this in the New Year.
Life begins at forty
I have been delighted at the way our oldest-ever bottling has been received, since it was launched in October. Matured in ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks, and with an unmistakable Pulteney character, our 40 Year Old has a very long finish indeed.
