Glendronach 21 year old Parliament Highland single malt Scotch whisky. Matured in Oloroso and Pedro Ximinez sherry casks, and takes its name from the parliament of rooks that have been nesting in the trees overlooking the distillery for almost 200 years. MAXIMUM 1 BOTTLES PER CUSTOMER. International Wine and Spirits Competition 2013 – Silver Medal. Nose: A delicate mix of ripe autumnal fruits – notably blackberries and red plums. Rich Oloroso sherry and candied orange segments. Spiced oatmeal biscuits and toasted oak fragrances bring excellent weight and balance.Palate: Resolute flavours of fine Oloroso sherry and bitter chocolate sauce, which has been spread liberally over homemade plum pudding. This is all infused with fabulous spicy notes – cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg. Full bodied with smooth tannins.

Glendronach Malt Whisky Distillery was established north east of Huntley in the Highland whiskey region by James Allardice in 1826. The malting floors at Glendronach Distillery closed in 1996 and it was the last distillery in Scotland to heat its stills directly with flames from a coal-fired furnace, until it had to comply with new regulations in 2005. Glendronach Distillery is resplendent with a traditional cask iron mash tun, wooden washbacks, four stills. Famous for its well-aged and top quality sherried single malt, for example Glendronach 21 Year Old Parliament, and single cask releases. The distillery is now owned by Brown Forman of America.

Bourbon Harvest

The Bourbon Harvest will begin at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 24^th. Everyone is invited to take part in the day’s activities as we celebrate all things Bourbon. For those that weren’t selected – not to worry there will be plenty of opportunities to go home with something special. The Bourbon Harvest isn’t just for raffling off Old Rip Van Winkle (ORVW) or Buffalo Trace Antique Collection (BTAC), we will also be releasing other rare and sought after Bourbons throughout the day, in addition, we’ll have some amazing Bourbons samples on hand, and Braxton will have food to offer. Come down and make a day of it.

Bourbon Harvest

Here are a couple of reminders to those that have been selected to participate in the ORVW and BTAC raffle.

• Each raffle participant has been emailed with a specific time slot, stand-ins will not be accepted
• Failure to show up for your time slot will mean forfeiture of your opportunity, no exception
•  To enter the raffle you’ll need to have printed your email verification that was sent with your time slot. Please note, time slots are not transferable in any way
• You must have your valid ID present at check-in and that ID must match with what we have on file when you signed up

Check-in will start at the beginning of each time slot. During each time slot names will be drawn at random for an opportunity to pick one bottle and one bottle only of either ORVW or BTAC from whatever selection remains when your name is drawn.

Custom Barrel Heads and Barrel Staves

Just in time for Christmas, we’ll be taking orders for Custom Barrel Heads and Barrel Staves. These make perfect presents for birthdays, weddings and, don’t you know, Christmas. If you have Bourbon enthusiasts on your list, these are a must. There are two options for customing Barrel Staves and eight options for customizing your Barrel Head.

Private Barrel Selection

For over a decade we have scoured the rickhouses of our favorite distilleries, home and abroad, for single barrels that we think best represent those distilleries. We currently have a selection of over 30 unique expressions from all over the world that include Bourbon, Rye, Single Malt Scotch, Tequila, Brandy, and Rum. These unique expressions are hand selected with care and each selection is unique to the barrel it was selected from. Sampled next to a distillery’s selection – that uniqueness stands out. Each Private Barrel has a fitting place on your bar.

This limited edition single barrel bourbon from Maker’s Mark is one of the first of its kind and an exclusive to The Whisky Shop. Taking inspiration from the process used to create Maker’s 46, this Kentucky bourbon is crafted from a barrel made from a bespoke selection of different wooden staves, chosen by a team from The Whisky Shop.

The final stave selection used five French oak staves cooked at high temperature in a convection oven, three French oak staves seared in an infra-red oven, and two more of the same but with ridges cut into the surface.

The nose is cooling, with oak shavings and spearmint emerging with toffee and linseed oil. The palate is sweet and dry, with oak wood lingering on into the spicy finish.

The Macallan Edition No. 4

The fourth release in the Edition Series from The Macallan, this Speyside single malt is a celebration of the distillery’s whisky making heritage, combining a unique selection of oak cask styles. Edition No.4 reflects the craftsmanship and pioneering design of the new Macallan distillery.

The nose is bold and rounded with honey and sweet apples atop orange zest, ginger, nutmeg and polished oak. The palate has rich nutmeg and wood spice to the fore, with sweet vanilla emerging to coat the mouth, before a fruity oak finish.

Mortlach 25 Year Old
Platinum Old & Rare

Part of the Platinum Old & Rare Selection from independent bottler Hunter Laing & Co., this 25 year old Speyside single malt was distilled in September 1992. Left to mature in a single sherry butt for a quarter of a century, it was finally bottled in September 2017, when only 319 bottles were filled. As with all the Platinum Old & Rare releases, this single cask expression is presented at natural cask strength free from chill-filtration and tinting.

The nose has Christmas cake and old cognac with chocolate liqueurs and a touch of cigar leaf. The palate is sweet and sumptuously textured with drying aspects. The finish is long and warming.
