Small Batch Bourbon Bundle at Hard To Find Whisky – American Whiskey News

Booker’s Batch 2021-01: Donohoe’s Batch Bourbon
New UK Limited Release | 70cl | 58% ABV

Booker’s Bourbon is one of America’s finest whiskies, and can stand toe to toe with the very best that Kentucky has to offer. The first release in the Booker’s 2021 collection is Booker’s Batch 2021-01 – Donohoe’s Batch – named in honour of retired Jim Beam employee Mike Donohoe, who was also a close friend to the eponymous Booker Noe. A bold, rich, satisfying Bourbon that will fill your mouth with warming flavours of sweet vanilla, cornbread, exotic spice, and toasted oak. Greatness in a glass!

Basil Hayden’s Kentucky Straight Bourbon
70cl | 40% ABV

Basil Hayden’s Bourbon has a high rye content (30% in the mashbill) which makes this drier and spicier than your average Bourbon. It is incredibly easy going and would be a good introduction to the delights of the other Jim Beam range and a prelude to trying straight rye. A mellow and easy drinking Bourbon and a real mint-chocolate festival in your mouth.

Knob Creek Kentucky Straight Small Batch Bourbon
9 Year Old | 70cl | 50% ABV

When it comes to making Knob Creek Bourbon, there’s a lot of waiting but hardly any sitting around. While each barrel patiently ages in white oak, Knob Creek’s distillers continue to raise the standards, fulfilling their commitment to full flavour. The result? An unflinching balance of deep, pre-Prohibition-style Bourbon with a robust oak taste, complemented with hints of smooth vanilla and layered caramel.

The Whisky Exchange ~ Whisky of the Month – Glen Moray 18 Year Old – Scotch Whisky News

Rare & Collectable Gordon & MacPhail at The Whisky Barrel – Scotch Whisky News

Glenury Royal 35 Year Old

1984 vintage 1st fill sherry butt for G&M’s 125th Anniversary. Rare lost distillery bottling. Glenury Royal 35 Year Old 1984 Highland Lowland single malt Scotch whisky. Single first fill sherry butt bottled May 2020 for the Gordon & MacPhail 125th Anniversary series. 397 bottles.

Stewed fruit aromas with notes of polish lead to cinnamon. Sweet and drying with flavours of cherry, orange peel and subtle coffee. A medium and fruity finish with lingering aniseed and sherry.

Glenury Royal Distillery was established to the north of Stonehaven in 1825. Only three distilleries in Scotland have been permitted to use ‘Royal’ in their title and it was granted to Glenury in 1835 by King William 1V. Glenury Royal was a malt whisky distillery which operated from 1825 with just two stills until they were increased to four in 1965. The distillery closed in 1985 and was demolished in 1993 but the square support base of the round brick chimney remains with a plaque attached. The site is now a private housing estate on the edge of Stonehaven. Glenury Royal Distillery is a lost Scottish Highland malt whisky distillery.

Coleburn 47 Year Old

Nose: Sweet butterscotch, ripe fruit and subtle floral aromas. Caramelised sugar develops alongside waxy citrus peel, slowly transforming into fresh guava.
Taste: Intensely sweet; fruity flavours of apricot and cooked apple with a subtle mouth-warming chilli spice edge. Subtle charred oak flavours give way to a soft undertone of mint leaves.
Finish: A medium finish with sweet and ripe autumnal fruit and a lingering dry herbal note.

A Dundee based firm of whisky blenders commissioned the architect Charles C. Diog to design Coleburn malt whisky distillery in 1897 and it duly opened in 1899 at Coleburn farm just to the south of Fogwatt in Scotland’s Speyside whisky region. Coleburn Distillery was built beside Colburn railway station which ensured a speedy connection to the southern whisky blenders. This distillery closed in 1985 and whilst many of the buildings remains most of the equipment has gone. Recent releases are few and are highly collectable, an example being Gordon & MacPhails Coleburn Rare Old.

Time for Music with Glengoyne – Scotch Whisky News

Our Glengoyne colleagues. Together, we have compiled a playlist consisting of our go to songs to accompany a dram of Glengoyne. From the psychedelic sounds of Pink Floyd to the mellow tones of Billie Holiday, we think there’s something for everyone – just like our whisky.

Gordon Dallas, Whisky Experiential Ambassador

Honey Thief by Hipsway

“This great melody is perfect with a dram of 12 Year Old. It’s lively and not for after-dark lounging on a chaise-long but for in the club, gracing the dance floor having a good time. The bourbon and sherry in the 12 Year Old come together beautifully, just like the song.”

Glengoyne 12 Year Old

Jason McCabe, Production Operator

September by Earth Wind & Fire

“This song always reminds me of our Glengoyne staff summer parties, and 10 Year Old; on its own or in the infamous Glengoyne “Kilt Lifter” cocktail. Great memories of us having a “guid auld” time, with the 10 Year Old never far away. “

Glengoyne 10 Year Old

Gordon Dundas, Senior Brand Ambassador and Advocacy Manager

You’ve got the love (radio edit) by Candi Stanton

“As well as the song being uplifting, it’s multi-layered, with this version having an orchestra coming in halfway through. It reminds me of Glengoyne Cask Strength, an array of flavours in a unique way. Great song, great whisky.”

Glengoyne Cask Strength

Robbie Hughes, Glengoyne Distillery Manager

Perfect Day by Lou Reed

One of Robbie’s many songs he recommends. “A classic tune best served with a classic malt for those perfect days.”

The Glenrothes raises £39,000 for Lead Scotland – Scotch Whisky News

One remarkable bottle,
one very special cause.

In February this year, the last drop of The Glenrothes 50 Year Old went under the hammer. This was no ordinary decanter, and this was no ordinary auction.

The bottle was embellished with gold from Scotland’s only gold mine, beautifully crafted by Hamilton & Inches, and all proceeds were to go to a charity personally selected by the winning bidder.

The one-of-a-kind decanter eventually sold for £39,000, and we can now reveal the chosen charity.

Lead Scotland help those who are eager to learn but face barriers to education. With 150 volunteers all over the country, they support the learning needs of disabled people and carers to learn in homes, online and in their communities.

The £39,000 raised from The Glenrothes 50 Year Old will specifically benefit Moray, the community in which The Glenrothes Estate is based. It will ensure that up to 100 local people are supported over a period of 18 months, helping to build their confidence and attain qualifications.

Previous learners have gone on to become writers and entrepreneurs, work in local politics and campaign for the rights of disabled people.

Community and knowledge are two very important principles of The Glenrothes, so we’re delighted and honoured to support a charity who hold both in such high regard. Ensuring local disabled people and carers in Moray will have an equal opportunity to learn, participate and achieve their potential.

And then there were none

Being able to support such a wonderful Scottish charity is the perfect ending to a memorable chapter in our history.
