Glenrothes ‘Why patience is paramount’ – Scotch Whisky News

This time of year can feel fairly frantic, as we hurtle towards the festive season at a hundred miles an hour. Tucked away beside a leafy gorge in Speyside, things are a little different…

Life here remains unhurried. Uncomplicated, unchanged.

Nothing in our whisky making process can ever be rushed, because when crafting The Glenrothes, patience is paramount.

Take, for example, our unusually slow distillation in our unusually tall stills. It’s not the easiest way to make whisky, it’s certainly not the quickest.

However this process helps produce a uniquely delicate fruity spirit, the base of our house style. So that’s the way we do it, and the way we always will.

Slowing down and switching off can feel almost impossible at this time of year. We invite you to take just a few minutes to dive into our hidden corner of Speyside and let our unhurried craft provide you with a moment of respite.

Doc Swinson’s & Prohibition Craft Spirits “NULU” at K&L California – American Whiskey News

Prohibition Craft Spirits “NULU Toasted Barrel” Small Batch #CA1 Indiana Straight Bourbon Whiskey (750ml) $79.99 View

Doc Swinson’s 5 Year Old “Blender’s Cut” High Proof Straight Bourbon Whiskey (750ml) $49.99 View

The wonderful Doc Swinson’s Bourbon is starting to offer a more diverse range of core products. The Blender’s Cut is the product that we’ve been asking for since we first tasted the finished Alter Ego bourbon. That whisky is a blender of 5+ year old Indiana Straight Bourbons finished in Sherry and Cognac casks. This whisky is that same blend, but bottled at higher proof without the finish. Their blend consists of two classic high rye mashbills distilled at the excellent distillery in Lawrenceburg – a 36% and 21% rye. The bourbons are aged for 5+ years before being blended and bottled at comforting 115 proof. For anyone loving cask strength bourbon, this is one of the best values on the market today, few of these high proof MGPs are available under $50 and even fewer so expertly blended. Expect bright stone fruit, creamy vanilla and rich barrel spice. An exceptional new addition to Doc’s growing family.

Restock! Glen Moray 1998 Warehouse 1 Barolo Finish 🍇 – Scotch Whisky News

Restock: Glen Moray Warehouse 1 Barolo!

When the latest Warehouse 1 series by Glen Moray was released earlier this month it flew off the shelves. For those left disappointed we have managed to secure a limited restock! Aged for 23 years and finished in ex-Barolo wine casks, expect wonderfully winey tannins with chocolate Werther’s, leathery oak, figs, dark plum fruits, and blackberries. Act quick!

Glen Moray Barolo →

Glen Moray Warehouse 1 1998 Barolo Finish Description

Following the immensely popular Tokaji Finish in June, Glen Moray are happy to expand the Warehouse 1 Collection with this, a single malt Glen Moray finished in ex-Barolo casks. This was distilled in 1998 and was aged for 23 years, the collections oldest expression. Matured in ex-bourbon casks, it was then moved to three ex-Barolo wine casks where it spent a finishing period of at least 18 months.

Only 853 bottles of this have been released. This dram is bottled at a cask strength 52.9% abv, is free from chill filtration, and is presented in natural colour. If Glen Moray’s single malt is the chart-topper, this expression is high art.

On the nose, aromas of summer flowers, caramel chocolates, and Werthers Originals sweets all arrive. The palate is one that opens with a big hit of winey tannins, with leather, and smooth oak all combining with figs, dark plum fruits, and blackberries. A gentle finish awaits, with a lingering honey smoothness. Sumptuous.

New Luxury Whisky Releases for Holiday Gifting! – Whisky News

For more than three generations, the master blenders at the House of Suntory, the Founding House of Japanese Whisky, have devoted themselves to pursuing the harmony of Japanese nature and craftsmanship to produce the legendary Yamazaki, Hakushu, Hibiki and Toki whiskies.

The House of Suntory recently unveiled a limited-time only edition of Hibiki® Japanese Harmony™ (SRP: $125). The specially-designed bottle is adorned with painted flowers and flowing ribbons of water, representative of the vital force of Japan’s everchanging twenty-four seasons. Embraced as the paragon of Japanese Whisky, the Hibiki brand is Japan’s most highly awarded blended whisky and among the most prestigious and honored whiskies in the world. Hibiki Japanese Harmony is a meticulous blend of the finest selection of malt and grain whiskies from the House of Suntory Whisky’s Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita distilleries.

Made at the first distillery on Islay since 1779, Bowmore Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is known as one of the most balanced Islay whiskies, which are often thought to be the smokiest Scotch whiskies in the world.

The latest in a series of collaborations between Bowmore and Aston Martin, the U.S. release of Bowmore Masters’ Selection (SRP: $400) marks the first time Bowmore has adopted the “Golden Ratio” principle – the mathematical ratio found in nature that creates aesthetically pleasing compositions – which sits at the heart of the design of every Aston Martin. Taking inspiration from an engineered approach, Bowmore Masters’ Selection incorporates the divine proportion of 61.8% formed from a base of 21 year old Bowmore matured in first fill Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry casks. The remaining parts are made up of exact ratios of each other, in line with the Golden Ratio theory, and include exceptionally aged Bowmore matured for over 35 years. Imagined and defined by two Masters, Bowmore Master Whisky Blender Ron Welsh and Aston Martin Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman, Bowmore Masters’ Selection bridges two distinct worlds in a powerful, yet inspiring way. Available in the U.S. as of January 2022.

Alfred GIRAUD French Malt Whiskies are produced in Cognac, France and developed by renowned Master Blender Georges Clot, who spent decades at an acclaimed cognac house. With close to 100 years of experience crafting some of the world’s most coveted cognacs, the Giraud family draws on its mastery of blending to establish a new tradition of French malt whisky.

Daring and innovative, VOYAGE by Alfred GIRAUD French Malt Whisky (SRP: $180) is the first release in the Exploratory Blends Range, a series of rare, limited whiskies that see only periodic and exclusive releases at the Giraud family’s discretion. Showcasing two of the best French single malts, one leaning on fruity notes and the other on cereal notes, each is matured in casks with bold characteristics: new French Robina casks, a powerful and rare wood found locally in France, and Sauternes wine casks sourced from nearby French wineries. The whisky then sees its final aging stage.

JOHNNIE WALKER BLUE LABEL GHOST & RARE: PITTYVAICH DESCRIPTION

We aren’t seers, mystics, or clairvoyant, but once we heard about this one, even we could predict it would be sensational. The bulk of this one arrives from a ghost distillery, that of Pittyvaich. After an 18-year-long stint, it closed in 1993. One of Scotland’s shortest-lived distilleries, it is now one of the rarest. Pairing it with seven other whiskies from Johnnie Walker’s huge reserves of whisky, this celebrates the Speyside style in this elegant, limited edition dram. Get your hands on it before it becomes immaterial!

We do enjoy an Aultmore at the Inverurie Whisky Shop with its beautiful summer flavours of peaches and lemonade, toffee and ice cream soda, fudge and milky coffee with some spice and the wonderful nose of freshly mown grass. One could be forgiven for thinking you were on a picnic in an orchard while sitting back and enjoying this dram.
