Miltonduff 34 Year Old 1982 vintage Speyside single malt Scotch whisky. Single cask refill hogshead bottled June 2016 by Hunter Laing & Co. for the Old & Rare Platinum collection. 196 bottles. This golden whisky has a sweet and fruity nose of pears, green apples, butterscotch and crème caramel. The finish is long and slightly dry, with a gentle oak aftertaste. Miltonduff Distillery was established by Andrew Peary and Robert Bain in 1824 on the site of an old meal mill which once belonged to Pluscarden Abbey. In 1964 a pair of Lomond stills was installed and operated until 1981 at which time they were sliced and diced and partially incorporated into new pot stills. Whilst the whisky produced from the pot stills at Miltonduff is called Miltonduff the malt whisky produced by the Lomond stills is called Mosstowie. Miltonduff Distillery is a Speyside malt whisky distillery and a contributor to Ballantine’s blends of scotch.

The Macallan ~ The Decision to Disrupt: The Macallan Concept No. 1 – Scotch Whisky News

Macallan

Macallan

The Macallan Concept No. 1 is the first release in a new limited edition series, exclusive to travellers, which celebrates the world’s visionaries by daring to disrupt the whisky making process.

We have chosen to embrace this concept of positive disruption by creating a single malt whisky inspired by the world of surreal art and incorporating innovative production techniques. Created from whiskies matured first in sherry-seasoned oak casks and then for an equal time in ex-bourbon casks, The Macallan Concept No. 1 is crafted to explore maturation more imaginatively.

The Macallan Concept No. 1 is now available exclusively from Dubai Duty Free, and airports globally from January 2019 onwards.

Konnichiwa,

-The Party Source Liquor Department

From Eigashima comes Akashi blended whisky and Akashi Ume plum (just plumb delicious) flavored whisky.  Mars Shinshu brings us corn-heavy Iwai and Iwai Tradition. Ichiro’s Malt and Grain from Chichibu Distillery features a Japanese malt base combined with whiskies from Scotland, Ireland, Canada, and the US. The Kurayoshi Pure Malts (8 and 18 year) from Matsui Whisky blend sourced Scottish malt with Japanese malt.

AKASHI Grain Whiskey | $45.99
This whisky is blended in the Scotch tradition, with Japanese precision, the malt is lightly peated, and vatting is mostly ex-bourbon, balanced by White Oak

AKASHI Ume Plum Whisky | $35.99
This sweet whisky is born out of the Japanese tradition of Ume-Shu, which translates as Plum Alcohol. In late May and early June, hard, green, sour plums are harvested and combined with neutral spirit and rock sugar, then aged for 6 months to a year. Akashi does nearly the same with this version, allowing freshly harvested plums and rock sugar to rest in mature whisky. Here they remain for 6 months to a year, resulting in this simple twist on a Japanese classic.

MARS SHINSHU Iwai Whisky | $33.99
Kiichiro Iwai, the name sake for this Mars Whisky, was a silent pioneer of Japan whisky. This whisky is inspired by great whiskies of America. A majority of corn balanced with light malt aged in ex-bourbon barrels. Ideal for daily sipping, in a mint julep or an old fashioned.

MARS SHINSHU Iwai Tradition Mars Whisky | $54.99
This is malt driven spirit is truly a reflection of contemporary Japanese whisky. Incredibly balanced, soft and layered. A blending of sherry, bourbon and wine casks with hints, delicate hints of peat make for a harmonious whisky that would make Iwai-san proud.

ICHIROS Malt and Grain Whisky | $104.99
Distilled by the legendary king of Japanese distilling: Ichiro Akuto This blend is comprised of whiskies from distilleries in “the big 5” – Scotland, Canada, England, Ireland and the U.S., also including Ichiro Akuto’s young malt and grain whisky stock. A genuine ‘worldwide blended whisky.’

KURAYOSHI Pure Malt Whisky 8YR | $88.99
The malt aromas and sweet, refreshing fruit notes are reminiscent of pale golden and dry orange colors. The palate is sweet and stands out with fragrances of vanilla and nuts. The mouth-feel is very soft. The finish is smooth.

KURAYOSHI Pure Malt Whisky 18YR | $229.99
Released in April 2016, the Kurayoshi Pure Malt 18 Years Old Whisky is a boutique Japanese whisky produced by the Matsui distillery. Located in Tottori, a coastal prefecture on southern Honshu, the whiskies produced by the Matsui distillery are characterised by aging with the pure underground waters of Daisen Mountains.

RICE WHISKIES

Fukano rice whisky is made from 100% malted rice and is aged in new charred oak barrels.  Having the fine distinction of cracking the Whisky Advocate’s Top 20 Whiskies of 2017, it achieves a remarkable balance of confectionery sweetness and warm, toasty spice.  Ohishi Whisky is distilled from malted and unmalted rice and is rested in either brandy or sherry casks.  These unique whiskies are unlike any we’ve tried before.  The brandy cask imparts light citrus and floral notes, while the sherry cask showcases ripe dark fruits with hints of vanilla and cocoa.  We’re delighted to have two (one of each!) private single casks of these wonderfully singular whiskies, and we hope you’ll enjoy them as much as we do.  Kanpai!

FUKANO Whisky | $93.99
Founded in 1823, Fukano Distillery is located in Hitoyoshi City, of the Kumamoto Prefecture of Japan on the island of Kyushu. Hitoyoshi is surrounded by mountains and is known for its pure water and nature. Shigeruriku Fukano is the fifth generation of his family to run the distillery. They use a combination of malted and un-malted rice to make their whisky in a pot still. These releases are very limited in nature and only a few casks are bottled each year. For 2016 they have released a few single new oak casks and also one white label marriage of sherry and new oak casks.

OHISHI Whisky Sherry Cask TPS Private Barrel | $79.99
From the Kumamoto Prefecture on the island of Kyushu in Japan, the Ohishi Sherry Cask is a whisky distilled from rice and aged in first and second fill sherry casks. The Ohishi Distillery uses at least 30% gohyakumanishi rice grown on its own fields, rounded out with mochi rice Kumamoto. Founded in 1872, this is one of the oldest distilleries in Japan, located on the banks of the Kuma River, a water source that is prized for its purity.

OHISHI Single Brandy Cask | $79.99
The Brandy Cask expression of Ohishi is a blend of ex-Cognac barrels between 3 and 25 years of age. The resulting spirit is delicate, yet angular, with notes of citrus, black peppercorn, and vanilla.

TOMATIN RELEASES ITS FIRST 50 YEAR OLD DISTILLERY BOTTLING – Scotch Whisky News

Tomatin. Bottle_Only_Revised

TOMATIN RELEASES ITS FIRST 50 YEAR OLD DISTILLERY BOTTLING

Tomatin, the award-winning Highland whisky distillery, has today (Monday 17th December) announced the release of its highly anticipated single malt, the Tomatin 50 Year Old, distilled on 24th November 1967.

Following 50 years of maturation at the distillery, the deep-honey coloured expression has been bottled in its most natural form, yielding just 70 special bottles at 45.3% abv.

Stephen Bremner, Managing Director of Tomatin, said: “It is with great pleasure that we announce the release of Tomatin’s oldest expression – the Tomatin 50 Year Old. This special expression has been quietly resting for half a century,  and it is wonderful to see it presented in all its glory.”

The whisky, finished in a first fill Oloroso Sherry Butt, cask number 35817, is encased within an individually numbered, handblown Glencairn crystal decanter. The decanter is luxuriously presented within a striking Italian crafted wooden box, furnished with soft, premium Italian leather. Sealed with a wooden transit cork, an engraved, solid brass gold-plated and glass stopper is also provided. Each box comes with an individually-numbered book, hand-signed by Distillery Manager, Graham Eunson. Finally, a premium leather carry bag completes the presentation.

The Tomatin 50 Year Old delivers a myriad of rich and complex flavours. On the nose, aromas of freshly felled oak in an orchard of apples, pears and plums can be expected. Once on the palate, it releases bursts of exotic tropical fruits and dried apricots, sweetened with flavours of vanilla toffee, crème caramel and flame raisins. Spice and fruits balance perfectly, providing a luxurious and velvety finish.

Graham Eunson, Distillery Manager at Tomatin, said: “This dignified expression is elegant and flavourful – a complex whisky with layers of taste sensations to delight the senses. Those privy to a taste of this whisky can expect warming spices which are mellowed by lashings of Manuka honey.”

The Tomatin 50 Year Old is the distillery’s oldest expression and is expected to retail at £10,000 for a 70cl bottle in the UK within specialist retailers.

Notes:

Tomatin Distillery has been producing and blending malt Scotch whisky since 1897. Over the last 50 years, the distillery has borne witness to vast change. At its peak in the 1970s, Tomatin was the largest distillery in the world operating 23 stills and producing 12 million litres of alcohol every year. Over the last decade, significant time has been invested in rediscovering the distillery, people and values, and in refining the business model to move away from the formerly lucrative bulk commodity market to now focus on Tomatin’s core range of single malts, the release of Tomatin 50 year old is a testament to that dedication.

Tomatin is located in the Scottish Highlands (near Inverness) and is famous for its portfolio of soft and mellow whiskies, including a core range, a limited-edition range and a premium archive range (prices range from £35 – £2,500). Tomatin is one of the fastest growing whisky brands in the UK and recently announced that it is officially the fastest growing top ten single malt whisky in the USA. Tomatin recently reported its turnover increased by almost 25% during the company’s most recent financial year (Dec 2016 – Dec 2017). Tomatin won Distiller of the Year 2016 and Brand Innovator of the Year 2017 at the Icons of Whisky Scotland Awards.

About The Tomatin 50 Year Old:

  • Cask Type: First fill Oloroso Sherry Butt
  • Strength: 45.3% alc./vol.
  • Distilled on: 24th November 1967

Tamdhu 30 Year Old 1988 at The Whisky Barrel – Scotch Whisky News

TWB1

Tamdhu 30 Year Old 1988

Single cask sherry butt bottled November 2018 for Old & Rare Platinum. Three decades in sherry oak has resulted in all the sweet, rich and creamy flavours you’d expect from this Speyside distillery. Just 184 numbered bottles. Tamdhu Distillery was founded in Speyside in 1896 and in production the following year. Designed by Charles Doig this distillery was originally equipped with two stills that were increased to four in 1972 and then six in 1975 in order to cope with the ever increasing demand for Famous Grouse and Cutty Sark blends of scotch to which Tamdhu was a major contributor. When the nearby railway station closed in 1965 the ticket office was subsequently converted into the Tamdhu Distillery visitor. But the visitor centre closed and then the distillery itself in March 2010 and with it the last working Saladin malting boxes in Scotland. A year later and Ian Macleod Distillers purchased Tamdhu Distillery and re-opened it in 2012. Single malts include Tamdhu 10 Year Old and Batch Strength.
