SCOTLAND’S RISING WHISKY START-UP MARKS LANDMARK YEAR WITH SECOND RELEASE – Scotch Whisky News

SCOTLAND’S RISING WHISKY START-UP MARKS LANDMARK YEAR WITH SECOND RELEASE

Edinburgh, Scotland – November 2025; Following a landmark year in which the business is on track to achieve a turnover of £2.5 million, Tailored Spirits Co., Scotland’s fastest-growing independent whisky start-up, continues to push the boundaries of Scotch whisky with the launch of the latest releases in its acclaimed The Experimental Series – a collection of bold, small-batch whiskies that celebrate creativity, craftsmanship, and curiosity.

Based in Leith, Edinburgh, Tailored Spirits Co. has quickly built a reputation for redefining how whisky enthusiasts experience single cask bottlings. The company specialises in Scotch whisky and premium spirits, working with private clients and businesses worldwide to source, mature, design, and bottle luxury whiskies and other spirits.

The Experimental Series invites drinkers to explore the diverse flavours of Scotland’s most characterful distilleries through limited-edition micro-releases, each with its own distinct story and finish. The latest line-up introduces Experiment 4 (Aultmore 15 Year Old), Experiment 5 (Echo – Benriach 13 Year Old), Experiment 6 (Fort – Dailuaine 13 Year Old), and the Special Experiment 1 Black Label (Anam – Springbank 23 Year Old).

Each release exemplifies Tailored Spirits Co.’s ethos – respecting tradition while embracing innovation – offering whisky lovers a chance to experience the unexpected in every glass: https://www.tailoredspirits.co.uk/

“This new collection marks an exciting step forward in our mission to celebrate experimentation in single cask whisky,” said Adam Harding, Co-Founder and Director of Tailored Spirits Co. “It follows a year beyond our expectations – one that’s seen us grow faster than we could have imagined.

“Each whisky in The Experimental Series tells its own story of maturation, finishing, and flavour exploration, and we’re proud to continue showcasing the depth and diversity of single cask Scotch whisky. The design is as much a part of the experience as the whisky itself. It’s about evoking curiosity – that sense of discovery and experimentation that sits at the heart of our brand.”

Inspired by vintage ski resort tickets and scientific lab bottles, the Experimental Series design has become a collector’s signature. Each bottle features a detachable ‘lab ticket’ marked with a unique code, allowing enthusiasts to track every experiment. Collectors who secure six tickets will gain exclusive access to special limited releases – including the new Black Label (Anam) bottling from Springbank.

Founded in 2024 by Edinburgh-based industry professionals Tom Costello (Brand & Creative), Carl Johnstone (Commercial & Operations), and Adam Harding (Spirits, Sales & Strategy), Tailored Spirits Co. has quickly become one of Scotland’s most exciting new whisky ventures.

With a mission to bridge the gap between large-scale production and the personal world of single cask ownership, the company creates tailored, exceptional spirits for discerning collectors and curious drinkers alike – guided by its mantra, “From the warehouse to your house.”

Scotch Malt Whisky Society ‘Finding the Perfect Tree’ – Scotch Whisky News

An early winter’s snow takes us on a walk amidst the pines with Spruce on the loose where dark chocolate was found in an old pipe tobacco box lined with crystallised spruce sap. Thick cut marmalade and nutmeg-infused orange peel lead nicely into a clearing where a lightly peated adventure awaits. Wandering Alchemy is the respite from the walk with deep and enticing notes of soft, heathery peat smoke and a decadently rich and mouthcoating, yet warming and gentle palate to see the festive season through.

SPRUCE ON THE LOOSE

Age: 17 years

Cask: First Fill Barrel & Second Fill Barrels

Sticks of calligraphy ink joined slices of dried papaya in maple syrup as autumn leaves fell upon school textbooks. Dark chocolate was found incarcerated in an old pipe tobacco box lined with crystallised spruce sap. The nose had us in a boreal forest, but the palate transported us to summer fields and fruit orchards: green apple slices mingled with dried ginger, toasted cereals and a spoonful of thick-cut marmalade in an orchardist’s tobacco pouch. Water introduced nectarines and peaches, cedarwood mothballs and honey to the nose, while the palate transformed to a minted bay leaf bouquet garni, woven with nutmeg-infused orange peel, sweet chilli fruit leather and fondant.

Looking for the perfect hauf ‘n’ hauf beer pairing with your dram of Spruce on the loose? Jack Low from Wasted Degrees suggests their Amber Rye, a malty offering with complementary notes of marmalade. It’s also officially the number three amber beer in the UK, according to The Society Of Independent Brewers and Associates. Pick up your Amber Rye here and be sure to tell us what you think about the pairing!

WANDERING ALCHEMY

Age: 10 years

Cask: Bourbon, Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez & HTMC Hogsheads

What witchcraft and molten japery is this? At least, that’s what our raised eyebrows and throaty musings queried. Surely this dram was much older and much more ‘old style’ that it had a right to be? We detected deep and enticing notes of soft, heathery peat smoke. Then encroaching medicinal charms, pine wood, camphor, cooling bonfire embers and tendrils of seaweed! Water dialled up the charm vibes to ‘Roger Moore’: elegant wood smoke, fragrant phenolics, old herbal and tar liqueurs and a kiss of cask-aged mead. The palate was decadently rich and mouthcoating, yet warming and gentle. Its rich herbal character mingled with more medicines, dried mint, mineral oils and fatty sheep wool oils. Reduction brought us wood spices, resinous hardwood extracts, smoked black olives, pure tar, hessian and a lovely medley of aniseed, salted liquorice and soy sauce – what despicable chemist brewed this sorcery!?

This exceptional single malt is an exciting rarity that we can’t wait to share with you – it’s a dedicated Laphroaig bottling created exclusively for The Whisky Shop! Crafted with our customers firmly in mind, and found nowhere else in the world, it represents a unique collaboration with one of Islay’s most iconic distilleries and stands proudly as a true collector’s piece.

Whisky Updates: B-Word Cask Strength and New Islay Cask Rye – Canadian Whisky News

First, B-Word Bourbon Style Whisky will be back in stock beginning Friday December 12th. Getting BC grown hard corn has been a challenge so this batch is quite small at 370 bottles. Batch 4 a four-grain bourbon style and is a vatting of four casks: European oak–aged corn whisky, and American oak–aged rye, wheat, and malted barley. I took a uniquely Canadian approach to this bourbon style: rather than creating a mash bill and fermenting all the grains together, we mashed, distilled, and aged each grain separately. This allowed for more versatility when blending. The final whisky is 60% corn, 30% rye, 5% wheat, and 5% malt. The standard bottle strength is 46%, but if you are looking for something a little more high proof, we bottled a limited amount (147 bottles) of cask strength B-word at 62.5%. I don’t expect either whisky to last long, and we won’t have any more for a year, so  if corn whisky is your fav, stock up while you can!

Second, we have one last new release for 2025. Islay Cask Rye Whisky is a brand new product, and was aged entirely in ex-Islay Scotch Whisky barrels from a distillery that rhymes with shmar bag. Bottled at 50% ABV, this whisky is a first as far as we can find, as we don’t think anyone in the world has been crazy enough to age 100% Rye Whisky full maturation in peated whisky barrels! Expect notes of vanilla, campfire, cloves, cinnamon, dill, and a even a bit of salty sea spray. This is a must try for any fan of rye whisky or peated whisky, and even if you don’t like peated whisky yet, this might be your gateway to the category.

It’s been a year of adventures on and off the beaten track, and in this final month of celebrating adventures together, it’s time to pour a dram and get into the good stuff!

Your next favourite whisky is waiting…

2011 Secret Speyside (M) *MACALLAN* 13 Year Old “Signatory 100 Proof Edition” 1st Fill Oloroso Sherry Butts Non Chillfiltered Speyside Single Malt ~ Scotch Whisky News

2011 Secret Speyside (M) *MACALLAN* 13 Year Old “Signatory 100 Proof Edition” 1st Fill Oloroso Sherry Butts Non Chillfiltered Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

The famous Secret Speyside (M) bottlings from Signatory have earned a loyal following for offering remarkable character at truly outstanding prices. Now Signatory is expanding the series with small batch versions of these highly regarded stocks at equally competitive levels. The concept is straightforward: capture the essence of the distillery’s character while delivering higher specifications and greater value. In this release we are well below the cost of the official 12 year old, yet it is bottled at a higher strength for more intensity and depth. Unlike the EU edition, which combines first fill and refill Oloroso sherry casks, this version is drawn entirely from first fill Oloroso butts. The result is a whisky that is dark, rich, and unctuous, brimming with the old school sherried intensity that many modern Macallan releases seem to lack. It shows layers of dried fruit, roasted nuts, leather, and cocoa balanced by a subtle spice and a long, warming finish. This is an absolutely spectacular value and yet another reminder that Signatory remains one of the industry leaders in consistently delivering the very best whisky at the very best price.

Roaming Road Spirits Roams Into UK, European Markets With Unique Single-Cask Offerings – Whisky News

Roaming Road Spirits Roams Into UK, European Markets With Unique Single-Cask Offerings

The Roaming Road motto of “We Go Where the Spirit Takes Us” leads brand founder Mike Gilmore overseas as an American independent bottler with a global view

DUBLIN, IRELAND – It started as an idea – bring to American drinkers a unique value proposition of specialized single-cask, cask strength offerings tracked down through hard work, personal relationships and an authentic desire to offer the finest expressions chosen for singular character and provenance. It is through this filter that American independent bottler Roaming Road Spirits, the personal passion project turned international success story of founder Mike Gilmore, finds itself on a truly global trajectory in bringing its mission of “We Go Where the Spirit Takes Us” to new international markets.

The Roaming Road Spirits journey, started in the United States in 2024, found Mike developing a highly enthusiastic following for his ability to discover and bring to market the finest in single-cask and Irish Whiskeys.  Taking an approach not common to the American market, he intentionally chose to avoid domestically releasing some of the finest Bourbon and Rye Whiskey casks from Kentucky and Indiana that he found. While he had built his reputation prior to Roaming Road by tracking down these types of American Whiskeys for a liquor store he owned, the timing didn’t feel right to do this same approach when he launched his brand.

Mike Gilmore of Roaming Road Spirits

“I didn’t want to just release another Bourbon or Rye,” said Mike. “I wanted to create something that carried their American soul across the ocean and gave it an Irish voice.”

With that in mind, and having found American success with its single-cask offerings, Roaming Road Spirits made the bold decision to take its same philosophy abroad. To this end, Mike brought the brand to Whiskey Live Dublin, where its newest offerings, Kentucky and Indiana Bourbon and Rye Whiskeys finished in Single Malt Irish Whiskey casks on the coast of Ireland with age statements ranging up to 10 years, were met with great enthusiasm. This transatlantic marriage of flavor – rich, full-bodied American Bourbon and Rye with a subtle, maritime-influenced Irish character – helped set the stage for pouring these expressions at the annual July 4th celebration hosted by the U.S. Embassy in Dublin, and held at the US Ambassador’s Residence, for 2,000 people. Since then, Roaming Road has become available throughout Ireland, including a prominent placement in the Shannon Airport Duty Free Shop.

Keeping this dual “whiskey cultures” approach in mind, Roaming Road has entered into the United Kingdom market by taking a similar approach in Scotland, where it is in the early stages of introducing Kentucky and Indiana Bourbon and Rye Whiskey finished in Single Malt Scotch casks sourced from various Scotch whisky–producing regions and distilleries. Ranging from the smoky depth of Islay to the rich, sherried influence of Speyside and the elegant malt-driven notes of the Highlands, cask-strength bottlings that capture the diversity of Scotland’s whisky heritage, while preserving the bold, cask-strength foundation of American whiskey, promise to bring to new fans distinct regional characteristics.

“It was never part of the plan for Roaming Road to go beyond Ireland,” noted MIke, “but the interest from other whiskey nations—places like Scotland wanting to connect through their own cask heritage—opened a new and exciting chapter we never expected.”

Looking to further horizons, the brand is excited to be bringing its single-cask philosophy to wider European markets, including Poland, Slovenia, and future sights set on France, Germany, and the Netherlands. Mike is also exploring future collaborations in Japan, where he plans to finish American whiskey in rare Mizunara oak casks.

From America’s heartland to the Irish coast and beyond, Roaming Road has truly embraced its “We Go Where The Spirit Takes Us” mission. We invite you to join us.

About Roaming Road

Roaming Road Spirits is not just a brand; it’s a philosophy. With a unique and adventurous motto,” We Go Where The Spirit Takes Us,” Founder Mike Gilmore has built a highly-regarded brand that constantly searches for the best single-cask spirits, regardless of geographical boundaries. This passion project of Mike’s is not about highlighting every barrel selection out there but about identifying those of the highest quality that fit his mission. This distinct point of view gives Roaming Road unparalleled access to an extremely deep and ever-growing catalog of expressions, inviting you to join in the adventure.
