LAGAVULIN 11 YEAR OLD OFFERMAN EDITION

Limited edition whisky from Islay, or as the man himself has described it, ‘a tiny island off the coast of Scotland, where god’s chosen elixirs are distilled, barreled, and prepared for consumption.’ This collaboration between Lagavulin and Parks & Recreation actor Nick Offerman has been finished for four months in Guinness stout casks. It promises lots of dark chocolate, roasting coffee beans and classic Lagavulin peat.

Old Pulteney 18 Year Old

2002 vintage from the coastal distillery. Matured in a bourbon barrel #18699 and bottled at 50%. Classi salty notes with sweet sponge cake and fruits with hints of aniseed and pepper. Plenty going on here. Pulteney 18 Year Old 2002 vintage Highland single malt Scotch whisky. Pulteney Distillery was established by James Henderson in 1826 in the coastal town of Wick, Caithness.

N: Apples, grapefruit, and sponge cake.
P: Salty, with notes of liquorice, herbs, and pears.
F: Long, with gentle smoke and a hint of pepper.

Pulteney is a Highland malt whisky distillery equipped with worm tubs to cool the spirit from its single pair of particularly short stills. Thomas Telford designed the lade which originally carried all the water into the distillery, and a fragment of his stone channel survives in the back yard. The Old Pulteney 12 Year Old, 17 Year Yld and 21 Year Old form the core range supported by Clipper and Navigator in the non-aged bottling series.

Many of Scotland’s most famous malts hail from Speyside, known for their approachable, fruity style and floral complexity. Our Classic Speyside Malt captures the very essence of the region, balancing subtle, honeyed fruit aromas with easy-going yet complex aromas.

LINKWOOD 2009 BERRY BRO’S SMALL BATCH NO. 1 £59.00

Linkwood Distillery, founded in 1821, is one of the Speyside’s hidden gems. The original Victorian buildings remain, despite expansion in the 1960s and ’70s. Swans and ducks swim on the distillery waters, which provides cooling water for the condensers.

Linkwood is generally archetypal of the lighter side of Speyside, and this refill hogshead is no exception. The nose is incredibly gentle, offering aromas of peach, banana and melon with a little toasted oak from the cask. This subtle theme continues on the palate; notes of fresh fruit salad and a slight citrusy tanginess create a wonderful interplay with the whisky’s delicate texture. A whiff of smoke emerges on the finish, before waves of baking spice and oak roll in.

Talisker 12 Year Old

2008 vintage bourbon barrel #18665 at 50%. Always a favourite and here we have butter tablet, chocolate, fudge and pineapple throughout with a lovely long and lingering finish with fruity notes and that subtle coastal freshness. Brothers Hugh and Keneth MacAskill Talisker Distillery was established at Carbost on the Isle of Skye off the west coast of Scotland in 1830 with construction commencing the following year. Soaking up its own reflection from Loch Harport one day yet fending off North Atlantic gales the next. Talisker is an Islands malt whisky distillery equipped with five stills and has retained its traditional five round wooden worm tubs. There is an excellent range of official bottlings, including Talisker 10 Year Old and Distillers Edition supplemented by independent bottlings in the Secret Stills and Old Malt Cask ranges.

LAWS Whisky House is quickly becoming one of the country’s most prominent new craft distillers. Not only have they been able to create an exciting array of excellent whiskies, but they’ve done so following a not altogether common motto in our industry, “there are no shortcuts.” We respect that kind of commitment to quality, and the proof is in the pudding. While their entire line of whiskies offers something special, it is the San Luis Valley Rye that offers the most distinctive and distinguished experience. The powerful flavors of the high-protein heirloom varietal paired with the dry maturation regimen that their Denver warehouses offer creates a unique and truly delicious flavor profile unparalleled by any other craft or legacy distiller. So, when we were offered this OLDER cask strength version of one of our favorite craft ryes, we absolutely had to have it. This awesome barrel was distilled on December 28th, 2015 and bottled just under 5.5 years old on April 30th, 2021. Bottled at cask strength of 58.9% ABV without chill filtration.

This delicious single barrel of San Luis Valley Rye is one of the very best craft ryes we’ve yet to try. There’s a huge influx of craft distillers offering rye of various quality and character, but LAWS has found a formula that’s as delicious as it is unique. Using the heirloom varietal of rye grown by farmers in south central Colorado, their Straight Rye is derived from an equal blend of malted and unmalted rye. This semi-wild varietal, now being cultivated exclusively to produce this particular whisky, offers character unlike the industrial ryes grown in Canada and Germany for the rest of the industry. Expect a stupendous mixture of rich salted caramel, a complex bouquet of mints and licorice bark on the nose. On the palate, a vibrant mixture of sweet, earthy oak, bold cacao, tangy green herbs, and burnt Seville orange peel. It’s truly incredible what these guys have managed to achieve in such a short time, and we couldn’t be prouder to be partnered with them.

SWEDISH SINGLE MALT WHISKY

The idea to produce a Swedish whisky was conceived by eight friends in a mountain cabin back in 1998. To ensure they stayed in touch after studying engineering together, the group had a tradition of meeting up in Sälen once a year. This time, purely by chance, everyone had brought along a bottle of whisky. During dinner, one of them wondered why there was no Swedish malt whisky, and, if it was possible, why hadn’t anyone already done it? The question remained unanswered but, before long,the vision to become pioneers and produce the first Swedish malt whisky took shape. One year later, in 1999, Mackmyra Svensk Whisky was established.

THE WHISKY

FINISH: aniseed, toffee apples and cinnamon with lingering malt and fresh oak.

WHAT IS A GRAVITY CASK?

The whisky is partly matured in casks with a body of newly emptied bourbon casks and ‘top and tailed’ with fresh Swedish oak from the island Visingsö.

The result is a beautiful blend of the vanilla notes from the bourbon casks and herbal spice from the Swedish oak.
