1995 Glenallachie 25 Year Old “Hart Brothers Finest Collection” K&L Exclusive Cask Strength Single Sherry Butt Speyside Single Malt ~ Scotch Whisky News

1995 Glenallachie 25 Year Old “Hart Brothers Finest Collection” K&L Exclusive Cask Strength Single Sherry Butt Speyside

Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml) (Pre-Arrival)

An incredible find by any measure, the GlenAllachie has recently become the darling of sherry loving scotch geeks worldwide. Why you ask could this random Speyside distillery go from completely unknown to widely sought-after? One name stands out, Billy Walker. We’re not so cynical (and certain he isn’t either) to believe that he’s the only reason we’re seeing great malt out of this distillery suddenly, but it’s his astute consideration and deft purchase of this special distillery, which has allowed it to flourish. Billy made waves more than two decades ago taking over the Glendronach and Benriach distilleries. He spent the subsequent decades refurbishing their images, not with sleek marketing campaigns, but by barreling and bottling exceptionally high-quality whisky and selling it to us at a fair price. Now he’s set his sights on this underappreciated Speyside gem and no one is surprised that he’s finding some exceptional juice in those warehouses. We’re grateful that our relationship with the exceptional Hart Bros has afforded us an opportunity to sell this exquisite cask of sherry matured GlenAllachie. While compared to many other heavily sherried old Speysiders, the distillery bottlings being released currently look rather affordable, this exceptional cask beats their prices by nearly half. We’re not sure how many more of these might be hiding in the Hart Bros warehouses, but we’ll buy every last one given the chance and all they sherry loving fiends should be too.

The Karuizawa Ruby Geishas – Japanese Whisky News

BALLOT NOW OPEN

We are very pleased to announce a very special pair of whiskies, the penultimate bottles in the critically acclaimed Karuizawa Geisha series – The Karuizawa Ruby Geishas.

After eight years of releases, the Geisha series is almost complete. The Ruby Geisha pair consists of a 34-year-old and a 38-year-old whisky, each matured in a sherry butt. Glenallachie Distillery is a Speyside distillery sitting on the eastern edge of Ben Rinnes mountain where it is rather exposed to the elements and is often to be see sitting within the snowline. A modern building and its architect William Delmé-Evans created a distillery which is rather pleasing on the eye. Glenallachie was commissioned in 1967 with two stills which increased to four in 1989 in order to meet blenders ever increasing demand for Glenallachie malt whisky. Whilst official releases are few independent releases are more numerous with those from Gordon & MacPhail, Signatory Vintage and Cadenheads proving popular.

There isn’t much that needs to be said about this. Mortlach meet sherry, sherry mortlach. Two and a half decades later the marriage is still a perfect one. What’s the secret? Listening and mutal respect or raw unbridled attraction? Probably both. There maybe no answer, but no one questions that these two things belong together. The Mortlach distillery, known locally as the Beast of Dufftown, is one of those great distilleries that has never been given proper attention by its owners. The distillery has quietly been a key component in the great Scotch blends since 1823, yet few outside the Single Malt afficianodos appreciate it’s prowess. Yes, the new owners have recently re-released a line of well regarded distillery bottlings, but their availability is intermitten and the excpetional pricing they original offered seems to have evaporated. It’s been a much more successful effort to transition the brand into a proper single malt property, yet this excellent property remains in the shadows of it’s “Classic Malt” bretheren. The beast, brooding down in the gully, waiting to be unleashed. Now it finally has been! This is a big boy butt from the biggest of Speysides bluechips. Robust, full of character and bottled no holds barred at full cask strength. It’s incredible we’re still able to get things like this out of Scotland and while it will be hard to argue with anyone that this one is “affordable” for what it is, the price is really quite shocking.

Compass Box “John Glaser unveils the newest whisky in our permanent collection” – Scotch Whisky News

I’d like to personally introduce you to our newest core range whisky, Orchard House.

Orchard House represents the first whisky of its type in our core range – a fruity and delicate ‘spirit-forward’ style. We’ve applied a light hand with oak to allow the distillery character of each of the component whiskies in the recipe to shine through.

It features delicate aromas of apple and pear, with light hints of Earl Grey tea, honey and vanilla shortbread – it’s very much a late afternoon/early evening style of malt whisky.

You’ll find Orchard House is vibrant when sipped neat, syrupy when enjoyed on ice. And it’s a terrific match with hard cheeses like Cheddars.

Orchard House also represents an important milestone for us – it’s the first in our core range to be produced almost entirely from whiskies we have aged ourselves since the day they were distilled. In a sense, it’s more ‘our’ whisky than anything we’ve made before!

We are really proud of this. It’s a joyful and delicious all-rounder.

Please share and enjoy!

Remus Repeal Reserve Series V Now Available at Retailers – American Whiskey News

Remus Repeal Reserve Series V now available at retailers

New varietal offers rare medley of five bourbons ranging

 from 2005 to 2008

St. LOUIS (Sept. 9, 2021) Luxco’s Remus Repeal Reserve Series V Straight Bourbon Whiskey is now available at retailers. Series V is the fifth edition of the award-winning Remus Repeal Reserve Bourbon collection. It showcases a medley of five bourbons ranging from 2005 to 2008, offering a rare taste of the finest cask bourbon selections available from one of the oldest distilleries in the country. A limited annual release, this bourbon is produced to commemorate the repeal of Prohibition in 1933.

Remus Repeal Reserve is an annual series from George Remus® Bourbon, crafted by the expert distillers and blenders at MGP’s 174-year-old distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Made in the distillery’s signature high-rye style, the medley changes each year, allowing the team to experiment with their various mash bills. Remus Repeal Reserve Series V is comprised of 9% 2005 Bourbon (21% Rye), 5% 2006 Bourbon (36% Rye), 19% 2006 Bourbon (21% Rye), 13% 2008 Bourbon (21% Rye) and 54% 2008 Bourbon (36% Rye).

Series V leads with dried fruit, rich caramel, maple syrup, roasted nuts and leather. The beginning includes rich toffee and vanilla, followed by chocolate, glazed nuts and oak. The finish offers candied fruit, caramel, baking spice and a lingering oaky rye spice.

“The Remus Repeal collection is all about showcasing the incredible range of aged reserves and medley combinations we can work with in Lawrenceburg,” said Master Blender David Whitmer. “In Series V we have created another exceptional bourbon that is sure to be a fan favorite. The limited number of bottles won’t stay on store shelves for long.”

Remus Repeal Reserve Series V retails for a suggested $89.99 per 750-ml bottle and is now available on retail shelves. Series V is bottled at 100 proof/50% ABV.

Remus Repeal Reserve was recently awarded bourbon Gold, Best in Class at the 2021 Whiskies of the World Awards.

To mark the opening, a Johnnie Walker flag was raised above the landmark building by Diageo’s Chief Executive, Ivan Menezes, and the Managing Director of Johnnie Walker Princes Street, Barbara Smith.

“This is a proud day for everyone. Last year Johnnie Walker celebrated 200 years since founder John Walker opened the doors to his small grocery store and today represents the next chapter of the incredible story. Johnnie Walker Princes Street is a landmark investment in Scotch whisky and into Scotland and it sets a new standard for immersive visitor attractions. It celebrates Scotland’s remarkable heritage, our incredible skilled whisky-makers, and looks to the future by engaging new generations of consumers from around the world in the magic of Scotch whisky.”

Johnnie Walker Princes Street is crowned by two world-class rooftop bars and a terrace with breath-taking views of the Edinburgh skyline, including the Explorers’ Bothy whisky bar stocked with 150 different whiskies, and the 1820 cocktail bar where drinks are paired with a carefully curated menu sourced from, and representing in culinary form, the four corners of Scotland.

We are committed to contributing to the local community by offering our award-winning hospitality training programme for unemployed people in our special Johnnie Walker Learning for Life academy. The building can also host events in the 200-capacity space.

“We’re thrilled to be opening the doors and helping to re-build the tourism and hospitality industry after a very difficult 18 months.
