TD0058 comes in bursting with fresh fruits and the qualities of beautiful, old oak. Apricot nectar and coconut cream usher in round and bright notes of pine-lime ice cream, mango salsa and watermelon granita. Impeccably layered, the palate provides cocoa, malted milkshakes and syrup-soaked sponge, resting atop a base of sandalwood and incense. 16 years old, matured in a 300L second fill American oak cask, TD0058 yielded 406 bottles of 49.8% Sullivans Cove.

Singular Series is a collection of small-batch spirits crafted with natural ingredients from all over the world, created by Lost Loch Spirits. This innovative distillery, which made the first Scottish absinthe, Eenoo gin and Haroosh whisky liqueur, is now presenting a whisky finished for 24 months in an absinthe cask. This unique whisky took a lot of herbal absinthe flavours, while still holding the notes of heather, honey and toffee.

A CHICHIBU TRILOGY COMING TO THE WHISKY EXCHANGE 

Bottled exclusively for The Whisky Exchange, a new trilogy from the much-heralded Chichibu Distillery in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, celebrates the discipline and learning behind traditional Japanese martial arts and the parallels with the building of skill and knowledge required to be a master distiller, exemplified here by Chichibu’s Ichiro Akuto.

The Martial Arts Trilogy begins with the release of a 2015-vintage ex-bourbon cask, showing the classic, fruity Chichibu character, on Tuesday 23^rd August. Available via ballot at thewhiskyexchange.com.

Following this release, a monthly ballot in September and October will release the second and third bottlings (further details below). All three will be £250 each.

The celebration of the parallels between traditional Japanese martial arts and the art of whisky-making comes to life through each bottle’s label, printed on lenticular sheets to give a pronounced three-dimensional effect. Designed by Elixir Distillers creative director Raj ‘MrC’ Chavda, the labels depict martial artists breaking through the background of the labels to reveal hidden casks.

One challenge we had this year was getting a 30 Year Old Whisky Exclusive, Douglas Laing delivered this absolute beauty, the first retailer to have an exclusive in the new XOP packaging too. A stunning bottling of Invergordon, bottled exclusively for TyndrumWhisky.com. Coming in the XOP Black range by Douglas Laing. A huge thanks to Douglas Laing for making this happen, one of the first, if not THE first retailer to get the XOP BLACK . . . Our logo makes it taste even better! This Invergordon is a Vintage 1991, and aged for 30 years before being bottled in April 2022.

Nose: Polished oak floors give way to a sweet -shop style with a wonderful medley of raspberries and milk chocolate.
Palate: Pear drops / candied apples develop to a warming spiciness (baking spice and brown sugar) alongside vanilla cream.
Finish: Lingers with a tangy character – orange rind and lemon drops – balanced by creamy cereal and allspice.

Caledonian 35 Year Old 1987 vintage Lowland single grain Scotch whisky. Single cask hogshead #23484 bottled July 2022 by Signatory Vintage for the Cask Strength Collection. 232numbered bottles. In its day the Caledonian Distillery was a huge business located at the west end of Princess Street in in the heart of the city of Edinburgh. Founded by Menzies, Bernard and Craig in 1855 complete with its own huge railway yard which sat next to the Edinburgh to Glasgow railway line. At the time of opening the Caledonian’s grain whisky was in demand for the newly developed whisky blending business and was used by Andrew Usher a pioneer of the technique. Closed in 1988 the site was cleared and redeveloped for housing and business use.

The Macallan Distillery was established by Alexander Reid in 1824 as Elchies Distillery near Easter Elchies House. Easter Elchies House dates back to 1700 and the estate itself to at least the 17th century. Macallan Distillery is a malt whisky distillery situated in Speyside whisky region. The old still house was re-commissioned in 2008 and now Macallan Distillery operates with two still houses sheltering twenty-one copper stills. A brand new distillery is under construction and designed to house thirty one stills thereby retaining Macallan amongst the top producers by volume. On-site maturation is carried out in traditional dunnage warehouses and by racking in large new warehouses on the estate. Popular official releases include Macallan 18 Year Old and Macallan 30 Year Old.
