The seventh release in The Macallan Archival Series, Folio 7, celebrates a beautiful and deliciously quirky advert. It cleverly features a group of scientists called ‘The Boffins’ in their baffling quest to determine the scientific rationale behind the magic that takes place inside The Macallan casks.

After much investigation, ‘The Boffins’ were left positively baffled by this task, and so, insisted on taking a barrel of whisky back to the laboratory, all in the name of ‘research’.

This fine release exudes complex flavours of raisins, milk chocolate and orange peel that give way to vanilla and baked fruits on the palate, leaving a long, creamy finish with warm spices. Folio 7 will be available to experience as a dram from The Macallan Estate Bar via reservation only from April 2023. There will be limited product availability worldwide.

Named MacLean’s Nose due to the close relationship that Adelphi and Ardnamurchan have with Charlie ‘The Nose’ MacLean along with the beautiful landmark located on the south coast of the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, named MacLean’s Nose.

Bottled at 46% ABV, un chilled filtered and at natural colour along with an impressive label which has been printed on crushed barley paper made from a byproduct of whisky production.

THE SINGLETON OF GLEN ORD
40 YEAR OLD

The Singleton has concluded its Epicurean Odyssey series with its most decadent release yet, a 40-year-old single malt from Glen Ord distillery. Led by malt master Maureen Robinson, this series of three single malts sets out to push the boundaries of maturation, using experimental casks to add layers of complexity.

For this final instalment, a 12-year-old Glen Ord was transferred to a series of rum casks where it underwent a jaw-dropping 28 year secondary maturation, followed by a finish in specially-selected Ron Zacapa XO solera casks for a few months. It’s rich and fruity with notes of velvety dark chocolate, juicy plums and toffee covered tropical fruits. This irresistible and rare single malt makes an indulgent addition to any whisky collection.

This little find comes from an undisclosed distillery on the Isle of Islay. While the bottler is prohibited from confirming source, the whisky world seems to be pretty confident that this single malt came from the special distillery on the south side of the island. This distillery, which boasts its own malt floors, seven stills and one of the most flavorful spirits in the business is widely considered the King of Islay. The wild ocean character and deep peaty richness is the key here. Add an unbeatable price, 50% ABV, and we’ve got your newly minted “GO TO” sub $40 peater.
